How to Fix a Flashing Check Engine Light

Thank you so much. My Honda turned to limp mode recently and i barely made it home. Installed a new set of spark plugs… nothing. Next day, installed a new set of coils. Started right up. This is the only video on KZbin that I could find with for my Honda with similar symptoms. Peace man!

Very similar. Put in new spark plugs - cheap try and didn’t fix but good to swap them out anyway. Put in new coil packs (cheap Amazon ones) fixed the entire issue.

Thank you!!! I changed my spark plugs about 3 years ago, but not my coils. Had the blinking engine light and gas smell this morning when I started my car. My anxiety went through the roof. Luckily I already knew how to change these out because of the spark plugs, but this was VERY helpful in knowing that it most likely is the coils. I'll replace those first to see if that's my fix. this man is spot on , i did not have time to fix my car (work) so i took it to a local shop, i had a code PO175 rich on bank 2 so it turned out to be a faulty coil pack on the #4 cylinder, it cost me 152.00

I just took my car to Autozone and they said it was a misfire in Cylinder 2 of my car so they suggested I get a ignition coil and a spark plug and that’s what I did so I called my mechanic and he said he can fix it tomorrow Thank god so I’ll be able to go to work and stuff once it’s fixed. The car that I drive is a 2011 Ford Flex SEL AWD

if you have a high mileage honda accord get a scan tool, i agree i checked my car and it said misfire on the#4 cylinder, it was a faulty coil pack

I unplugged each coil while the engine was running and all dropped in RMP but one. I then switched that coil(the one that didn’t react)with another one(that reacted) and did the same thing, unplugged the coil to identify if it was the coil or not. Both coils dropped in RPM when I unplugged when switched. Does this mean that the coils are fine as they both dropped in RPM when switched? At this point what could be the issue? Could it be the spark plug??

Had the same problem with my Mazda protégé 2000 had to replace the Two coils Now it runs better. It quit throwing the 420 Vehicle emissions code too

I own the same vehicle with the same V6 engine. Already changed the plugs, coils, and timing belt kit (needed all these already). That check engine light still will not turn off. The weird thing is that the light comes on (not flashing thou) when driving around with the AC unit off. Engine runs smooth and great even with that check engine light on (with AC unit off thou). As soon as I turn the AC unit on, the engine bogs down and begins to run rough. After about a minute of driving with AC unit on, the check engine light begins to flash in a on/off sequence. I then turn the AC unit off, and a minute later the flashing stops while check engine light remains on/steady. Engine will resume running smoothly. I have no idea what is going on. Any experts out there care to share your knowledge? Thanks.

🤔 hmm... I literally just left my mechanic with the same issue. Flashing ck engine light & car lagged when driving. Didn't have to change all the coils🤔. So $57.00 part & $40.00 labor Total $97.00 BOOM! Do some homework before throwing out your money. 🤘

We change all coils because once one goes bad the other will soon follow it. So when you replace them all you’ll get another 60-100k miles out of them rather than a month later another misfire then a week after that another misfire do all so it doesn’t happen again

Sadly, cars are expensive to repair. Parts, “GOOD parts”are expensive also. I always find it humorous when someone comes to shop after using aftermarket coils and the car doesn’t run correctly. I enjoy repairing cars, there is a cost to resolve problems correctly.
