All artisanal indies are potential purchases at first but if you don't stop it becomes crazy. Not everything can be a masterpiece, that's clear. I passed from buying Manly, I had an intuition and I think I got it right. It is crazy to buy without being able to try and against you is always the thought that it can be sold out and all that history. I'm tired of all this. Thank you for being honest

I bought a full bottle of Lao Oud I absolutely love it! That barnyardy funk and cocoa gourmand like notes is just so Mesmerising to me! What a fantastic fragrance. It settles down so beautifully and that funk becomes very subdued in the drydown. All the floral and sweeter notes come out while still remaining dry and smoothe. It's amazing how well blended it is too.

I have War and Peace, Atlantic Ambergris 2, Agar De Noir, Chinese Oud, Civet Du Nuit, Ottoman Empire 3, Oud Zhen and Aquilaria Blossom.. I first bought a 10ml of Manly and loved it. Just bought a full bottle.. It's not so popular seemingly but for me it's great and very wearable. And contains beaver tail.. ))

I sprayed it on my wife when it first arrived. As soon as she smelled it, she said "Manly." I said, "Your joking right?" She was like "What?" I said that's the name of the fragrance because I honestly thought she was joking. I guess they nailed the name.

Lao Oud samples are, as per usual, out of stock from Luckyscent. I watch few fragrance guys, but Dan and Jo- you are THE only guys I trust implicitly with your tastes; that are pretty much to my own, and would consider blind buys based on your reactions. I do have a question though: why don't so many brands not do 30ml? Is it marketing? Just curious..

I agree, I have also purchased all of the last releases from ALD, in the hope to be wowed like I was from collections 1-3, I have sold all of them, just feel that he has changed direction somewhat and these just feel lighter/restrained and can’t help feeling he is going for quantity over quality. I love Santal Galore and musk lave which are the last ones I brought and kept. I hope we get some winners in the next offerings.

To me Lao Oud wasn’t as Animalic is I thought it would be!! It’s still beautiful nevertheless and it rides on the same waves as Mysterious Oud which I absolutely Love!!

Gotta try that new Bortnikoff and also get some Feel Oud oud! Poor Aton is getting a hard time, its a 21 years old version of the concept of manly, remember he wasn't born when Quorum came out ;) in some ways he might have been better off launching his line then doing a colab. I quiet like Manly (not the name), its a nice contemporary leather, I know its not as wow as some Areej, but its not really Russian Adams work this time. ps I got Quorum recently and Aramis lovely stuff :)

It’s certainly not a bad fragrance, but I don’t think it’s wow, and I don’t think it justifies the price tag. We’ve spent a lot of time raving about Areej, so I think it’s reasonable to share our honest impressions. I did end up selling Manly, so I suppose that sums up how I feel! I’ll always be interested to try Russian Adam’s creations.

Not sure what’s wrong with the name Manly, but the fragrance is just a simple, nice, easy to wear fragrance. The opening is pretty good, but dries down to a soft leathery, nutmeg fragrance. Nothing extraordinary. Especially from Areej.

I'm really surprised you didn't get that medicinal bandage/paper glue thing from Lao Oud. It was the first thing I perceived. I think Manly (agreed, silly name) was meant to be a more approachable, entry level, youth focused "masculine. It's obviously not comparable to the other Areej releases, but it really isn't Russian Adam's creation exclusively (as it is a colab with his younger brother who is very new to this craft). That said, it's a thousand times nicer than most all of the offerings out there that are being targeted/marketed to young men. I think your criticism is a bit harsh, but each to their own nose.

Im just watching your faces. C'mon, it's what Cammi said from Stink. Manly is bar-b-que sauce. None of the men in my life will touch it. I keep saying they're not Manly enough for it as a challenge. They'd rather die than wear it. 🤭Assumed you waited so as to not affect sales. Nice to not to punch down to a lovely Indie house, but this one I just cannot.

@@WaftsfromTheLoft There are some masterpiece sauces out there. They take their sauces seriously in the south. I've had some funky sauces in Louisiana and South Carolina. Slightly sweet, smokey, boozy oaky almost meaty. Thick. They nailed the name as far as I'm concerned. This one will take a brute to pull off. Ten gallon hat kinda guy. 😉

marshcrew - Some people man 😂 the perfume is nowhere near bbq. It is earthy, leathery, Tobacco and a tad sweet. She names some masterpiece sauces in the South, i bet they smell like manly, as in perfume and thats gross 😂
