Easier way - if you go import media, next to all the options to import it will say ‘buy studio version’. This way you don’t need to constantly keep closing the app

Hi There, I’m having trouble with the loudness meter on iPad M2 and resolve 18.5 - after 10 seconds or so, the meters freeze and I can’t edit the audio loudness correctly. Any idea how to solve this issue?

I Have a M1 Mac mini and a M2 iPad Pro - my thought is - to use the iPad only for rendering my video's on and then at first to set it up on the Mac M1 with the Davinci Resolve - add the FX's and get the 'previews' with the reminder to get the Studio Version and then export to the iPad where I have (will have if this works)" the paid version and then get rid of the 'Get the full version' effects when rendering the projects on an iPad with the paid version ? hence the lower price on the iPad and more horsepower also

Hi, i got some crash aswell. But not all the time. Sometimes just restart was okay. BUT… the effects you can’t use are still aplied to the Clip. Go to the inspector and delete the DaVinci Resolve Studio Effect.

I did find one limitation on the Studio Version for iPad. I got the Studio Version for my iPad Pro 12.9 M1. I also have an iPad Pro 11 M1 running the free version. Both downloaded under the same Apple ID. Now - when I tried to apply an Effect that required the studio version - (color stabilizer) it put up the studio version overlay. If I applied it to the clip, it kept the overlay on that clip only until I removed it. It appears that unlike the regular DR Studio Version license that the iPad version is locked into one iPad only and does not give you a license to run on multiple iPads. I will keep the studio license on my 12.9 iPad and the 11" keeps the free version only. I use the 11' iPad Pro for Affinity Photo and Designer for media used in DR. So not a big deal, but I was hopping that maybe it was. The one thing I got lefty to test out - is what happens when I create a DR project that used Studio functions and try to run it on the free version. - Hmmmm. Just trying to flush out this new beast. Thanks for helping unlock these mysteries. Update - If you have the Studio version and create a project using the studio effects on some clips and then export it and then you import it to another iPad with just the free version - you get the Studio overlays on those clips. I wonder if this would also be true for the Blackmagic Cloud. I imagine so. Most people will only have one iPad, so this is not a big issue, but if you have multiple people working on a project or needing to use multiple iPads running DR - then you best all upgrade. Not a huge expense figuring you just get another lic for the other iPad. But just need to be aware of it. The licenses seemed to be locked to the hardware and not user.

Yes - I got it the studio upgrade first day it came out. Most people will never touch those Studio effects with the free version since there is so much power Blackmagic has given us for free. That is what makes it great - it is not a neutered version at all and is fine as is for 90% of all users. Thanks for all your recent videos which has opened up everything on the iPad Version for everyone. Great Stuff. It started a tidal wave of interest (also KZbin videos - the word has been spread far and wide - I am halfway around the world from you) and underscores where DR for the iPad is going. It will be a powerful tool for us.

Update: in the free Version only 4k UHD possible and you have to change the timeline. While older ipads dont have that option.

Being picky here but 3840x2160 is UHD and technically not 4k - 160 horizontal pixels short of 4000… The limitation on the free version is, for both the iPad and computer version, that they cannot render 4k or above so that is why you can render UHD.

Update: Now i’m a bit picky aswell. Actually 3840x2160 is considered 4k UHD and is one Standard Format for 4K - This is what Wikipedia writes: In television and consumer media, 3840 × 2160 (4K UHD) is the dominant 4K standard, whereas the movie projection industry uses 4096 × 2160 (DCI 4K).

@@DanielKovacs yes the almost 4k UHD is “considered” 4k but, as I point out, it is technically not 4k as 160 horizontal pixels are missing. BMD, who is an important actor in the movie industry, has set actual 4k as the limit between free and Studio. And UHD, almost 4k, is good enough for most of us (personally I timeline and render in 1080…)

Simple… because the other Pages are not official released yet. You don’t need the Studio Version to open all the other Pages with the Hack i found. However the Studio Version gives you more features and Effects in all Pages. For example Voice Isolation AI is only available in Studio. Or doing Slow Motion with 120 Frames and more is also only available in the Studio Version.

Daniel! Your videos are a great help, thank you. But I'm having trouble uploading 4K videos to my KZbin account. I followed your instructions for setting and exporting, and I confirmed that the file information shows 3840x2160 resolution. However, when I upload it to KZbin, I can only select up to 1080p resolution. (I tried directly uploading to KZbin from DaVinci Resolve and it was registered as 4K once successfully, but after that, I keep getting upload fail.) What could be the problem?

Hi Daniel , every time I left the app , all the shortcuts disappeared, after opening the menu , options commented k , I need to organize shortcuts again, this what happens on your ipad?

All Tabs are hidden after restart. Same here. But with my Magic Keyboard i don’t have to rebind the shortcuts again. With no Keyboard you first have to open the Shortcuts menu and rebind just ONE key. Can be any KEY… Somehow it works after. Don’t ask me why. They will probably fix this, when the pages become public.

You don’t beed the Studio Version. The only way on an older iPad is to change Timeline and Render Settings via: ADD ALL PAGES. So you can have a workaround

Daniel Keep up the good work. Since you are the fixer for DaVinci Resolve I have a question. I’m running an ipad pro but not the M1 or M2 but everything seems to run fine except I can’t get to the mixer on the fairy/sound page. When selected it opens like a quarter inch an I can’t expand it to change mic imput for a voice over. Maybe you know a better way to get voiceover.
