Thank you - today you expanded my options of using MultiCam. I knew the first way but not the 2nd way. That is why I follow you - I keep learning Gems of knowledge every time I watch one of your videos. I use multi cam a lot in my videos and now to try new things to make it quicker and easier now. 😊 You are the master of speed editing on the iPad w/o a Speed Editor but using only shortcuts. But keep in mind, for large multicam project. They are still more convinced to edit on desktop. But for smaller Multicam Sessions the trick from the video works.

@@DanielKovacs Uhhh no, it didn't make me want to purchase an iPAD Pro. I had already made a decision several months back to get an iPAD Pro as soon as I had discovered Davinci was planning a release specifically to run on an iPAD Pro. For many of my projects, being able to edit precisely on the go and later transfer the project to my main editing setup for mastering is a no brainer.

Thanks. Probably was just what I was looking for . Would there be a way ( on the last method) to colour code the angles in the timeline that would automatically jump either it so you can spot the angles in the timeline 🤔

I use the Studio Version (and i highly recommend the upgrade) but most features exist in the FREE Version. All the Multicam Stuff should work in the FREE Version. Cheers Daniel

i have recently started using davinci on my ipad and im loving it! But i have a question thought. How do you overwrite if you need to go back? Lets say you have made a mistake and you wanna recut that part? With Premier you go back you press space and when you change camera angle it just overwrites on the old edit, but here i still see the cuts that i have made. Any help?

Hey Daniel! This is super helpful, and it USED to work for me, but for some reason now, any time I open the viewer simultaneously, playback freezes and wont work in the timeline. While the source viewer is open the “cut to angle” shortcut works great. But then if I close source viewer, playback resumes just fine but that shortcut also stops working? (strangely the “switch angle” shortcut still works when source viewer is closed) Any ideas???

Undortunately, not everything is so simple. When I need precise sync, there’s no way to fix multicam clip sync. All methods, even those not mentioned, do not allow to sync manually to achieve precision. I can sync clips on edit page, but then switching without multicam clip will not be available.

What happens if you manually sync the clips and you want to change that sync position? Will davinci resolve update the timing of all the cuts downstream?

@@DanielKovacs For example, I tend to have 1 or 2 hour long recordings from my audio recorder and I need to sync that with a dozen or so clips from my camera. I won't always be able to use the audio waveforms to sync so I have to listen to the audio and drag around the clips to get them in sync. If then I notice something is wrong with that initial syncing, but I've already finished editing much of the video, can I go back and change the sync a little without having to redo all of that editing work?

@@kurtnelle I am like Daniel trying to figure out exactly what your process is. I use an audio recorder also now for good back up or primary sound and not rely primarily on a camera's audio track which is iffy at times. So that leads to questions - do you use timecode? Do you have sound tracks from the cameras that you can have Resolve sync to? Just trying to figure out why you feel obligated to manual sync clips - but that does not put them in the Sync Bin or allows you to use them that way - so that leads to the issues you have experienced. When I an extended audio clip - it will sync to multiple shorter video clips that have audio. Resolve will do that. Then I can simply cut out the not needed audio portions from the longer audio clip. Then you can edit true synced clips in Resolve and keep them synced with no need to readjust.

My first video used the 1st method for multicam, and was thinking about using the 2nd methed this time. But after building the multicam clip I cannot get the source viewer side by side. And I tried to look it up on the internet, some old post suggesting that people using old monitors with smaller resolution will result in davinci resolve think that there’s not enought screen realestate so will not work.

very nice Daniel ,but all this is for small projects,I’m shooting weddings big projects 3 cameras ,3 hours movie unfortunately not working,because camera don’t shoot ,one shoot splits (canon or Sony to 4gb) the movie ,therefore DaVinci doesn’t synchronize,I believe only on desktop version.iPad is not for weddings 3 hours movie and 3 different cameras and audio,from tascam or zoom recorders

Sometimes it takes some time to get both windows side by side. I have most success when i go to multicam view. After its there i can change the settings to source etc.

Multi-cam cut shortcuts are not working for me in July 2023, and the app bugs out when I try to open both Multicam and Timeline viewer. Have you tried this again recently, Daniel?

This maybe works for small videos. Synced 4K video with 2.7K video and separate audio track and the whole iPad stopped responding. Could not chew the multicam compound. Davinci on iPad is not full editor and should not be used or advertised as such. :)

Have fun with FCP for iPad. 😂 i think 💭 only after you see what else there is. Then you realise how powerful DaVinci on iPad is. Even with all the kids problems. And i said it many times in my videos. It’s not even BlackMagic fault… Apple disabled many key libraries for programmers on the iPad. So considering that this is the early stages… yes this software is so much better then most other options… I get that in your specific point, the Multicam edit is not what you want. But dude in a case like that, the iPad isn’t really the go to device. But to disgrace all the features that work should not be the ultimate statement.

Everything you mention is correct but nobody places a disclaimer to people before showing all these examples that these will not substitute a proper laptop with dedicated graphics when it comes to video editing. Prices are similar so some of them could rush and buy iPads and not get their value out because they think they can do edits on an ipad and use them fully. Rather invest in proofed technology and have this as a nice thing to observe but it is still not at the usability level. Maybe when m3 gets out or things get further developed. 😊

You are correct on that too. But nobody says you only will need an ipad. So nobody is going to replace the desktop/laptop… but your point of view also neglect that i build my complete bsuiness on the M1 iPad Pro and over 600 Videos for KZbin and the MasterClass…. So it is possible to replace a Laptop for my workflow.

Just stating that it will not edit 4K video the best, definitely not in multicam, and that people should not expect it to be full version. Tested it extensively on M2 iPad pro so I am not talking about theory. It is still great and works nicely. :) Especialy if someone is making 1080 videos. Great for that. :)
