Blonding and toning is intense. 9P, 9V, 9T, 9N, 9G, 9AA, 9NA, 9GN, 9B, needs a swatch on it's own to see the difference within the blonde tones.

I love that quote! I’ve struggled with balancing money with gratification through making people feel good. And I came to the same conclusion as well that as long as I’m making people happy and making them feel better and making their life better through my work then the money will come because they will continue to come back. This allowed me to focus on my clients and not my dollar. It is absolutely paid off.

Hi girls, I’ve essentially grown up in my mom’s hair salon and although I’ve observed her cutting, coloring, and styling hair all my life, there are just too many critical lessons and processes that must be taught and understood when applying any of those skills. And because it always looked so effortless to watch, and I thought I could do anything I put my mind too, (lol) I convinced myself that I wanted to do my own from now on...lol. That was 15 years ago and I’m still making huge mistakes, and most are related to color! Most of my knowledge pertaining hair have come from “how-to” tutorials and through trial and error. There are amazing videos that provide clear step by step demonstrations, the products used, and tips along the way. What’s hardly ever mentioned in any of the hair coloring tutorials is color theory, and what you must know personally about your own hair first. You guys explore this topic beautifully and in depth.. The info and content in this video is absolutely priceless and I wanted to thank you so much! I love your videos, Danielle Benita!!! I’ve watched and learned from you for a long time! You have by far the most knowledgeable, down to earth, quality color-based information, out there!

Thank u !!!! I always seem to pull orange and copper and my hair lightens really well but anytime somebody slaps a toner on my hair or any permanent color near my roots that isn't lightener it always pulls orangey red so thank you. You have no idea how hard it's been to find products to get somebody to get me that lived in ombre beachy blonde look with a deep root... So far two stylists can't achieve it and I keep pulling orangey red.. wish you guys lived in Canada because my God ..

Is it possible to neutralize a red tinge only with the EQ shades, without blonde strands in advance, to get a ashesy brown tone again? If so, which EQ Shades are suitable for this?

Taking the time to explain is powerful and positive. Much love to you. I want you to be my teacher now at school. I want to be an expert at color like you two. Can the next tutorial be Showing how to mix, apply, time, with all the levels and end result with blow dried. What would you recommend for someone who has a level 9-10 on their top half, then naturally a level 8-9 from the ears down and wants to do a two tone cool silver. They want to enhance what they've got going on with their grey grow out....10 or 9t on the top, and 7 or 8 t for the bottom half? Or mix the two and apply throughout?

Just saw this video. I am brunette with quite a bit of gray. I had my hair highlighted a few years ago and loved it. Lots of depth. Unfortunately since then I've been over highlighted or when I try to start over I've been getting hot roots. These are all attempts at a salon. I always ask for ash dark blonde highlights, but I'm now sorta an odd shade of blonde/orange with not much depth. I'm going to see a stylist soon to get it glossed and go back towards brown. I'm thinking 6na redkin eq but after your video I should mention adding 6n. I'm a bit worried since I pull red so much. Once my gray starts to come in, what would your suggestion be for the root tap? Any advice would be great. I just want to know what I should be asking for so I don't end up with hot roots again. Eventually I'd like to get back to a natural medium brown. Thanks so much!!! ❤

@DaniellaBenita
@DaniellaBenita 7 ай бұрын
Hi! Yep I apply onto dry hair if I want it to be more impactful. Be careful though because it can get spotty so make sure you have plenty of color to completely saturate your hair. Toning on your level is the best way to get rid of brass and what’s great about shades eq is it looks intense for 2-3 washes but then the color softens. So don’t panic when you shampoo the first time! It will gently release the color and look super natural by wash 3!

Lola Siebert hello! So I would only use it if you’re trying to dilute the color you want to use. For example: if I’m a 9 level blonde but want to keep the blonde as bright as possible while toning I would clear it out to make sure the color doesn’t deposit fully to the 9 level. So I would add 1 ounce clear 1 ounce 9T + 2 ounces of processing solution. That way the color is less strong and won’t deposit fully. Does that make sense? I’m making a video all about clear soon!

Hello, after I bleached my hair, I put on a blond irisee ash color and my hair looks a bit greenish now. It's probably due to the ash. How do I neutralize the green, without becoming too warm (I know red neutralizes green), since I don't like warm tones, but I would really like to get rid of the green/grey tone I have right now. I also don't want to darken the hair. What would you suggest? Thank you.

This video is amazing and just what I was looking for. Do you know if this can be applied to all colour lines? For example is the NA rule the same for Joico?

I have totally white/gray hair--I have been using Shades EQ for a few months--love the violets--Was playing with 9 and 7 then went to 5V I tried it--it came out of bottle brown--with violet --turns out this 5V was a discontinued color. I think for some reason this color had a brown background--which I don't understand--but the color has lasted over three months--this never happened with any other of the V colors--and the new 5V is totally different. I have asked other experts here and all they say is that the old 5V was discontinues--How do I get back to my normal color so I can once again use the nice light violets--Thank you!!

I have a client who is a natural dark brown with subtle balayage throughout. She wants the blonde a neutral blonde with hint of ash, right now its a warm blonde. Would you recommend 09p? Can i put it throughout?

Please explain when your talking about these toners you are saying to put all over the hair! I’m new to this and have had a client exactly I like you explained she has highlights and lowlights and she wanted me to just put a few more highlights in. So I weave out some of the brown with the blonde but the brown didn’t lift as much as the blonde leaving them orange only around in some areas. Would i put the formula that you said can’t remember what it was all over the hair or just find the orange highlights and neutralise them! I gave her matrix brass off blue shampoo and conditioner to wash her hair in the next couple of days. So that will hopefully do it but I was t sure on the toner to use! I really hope you are able to reply to this could really go with the help! Thank you Louise xx

Hey louise! What I like to do is cover them completely with shades eq that matches their root color and then re highlight them and make sure each highlight is perfectly blonde. That way you aren't re lifting any of the brown and leaving their hair brassy. You might need to fill them first so the blonde doesn't look green and then go over it one more time with a 6N or a 5N depending on their root color. I also like to fill my clients with gold to help keep their base from looking red!

Daniella Benita thank you so much for the reply, I really appreciate it! In college my tutor would really go on about how bad bleach is for the hair - which I get - and but she kind of scared me with leaving it on for too long! I know exactly what I did wrong and that is I didn’t leave the bleach on long enough so the brown pieces didn’t lift enough. If I’d left it another five or ten minutes they would have been a nice pale blonde! I guess it’s a learning curve so early on in doing this but your videos are Godsend. I just can’t wait to be as confident as you are and know my colours better! Really love your videos they are so informative and really help me loads thank you for sharing! Do you have a favourite formula of the shades eq for a root smudge? Xx

If I had level 9 hair but a hairdresser added 8a and 9a but I have brassy orange what would u do to remove it? I also had a root smudge that I was doing 6n eq but she added 5n and didnt bring it down further enough so theres alot of brass uh under my roots.

Hi ladies!!! Help me please. I’m naturally a strawberry blonde however I’ve been getting highlights for years so I was blonde blonde. Yesterday I got my hair done and asked to match my roots and she made me so dark and so red. She used a level 8 with warmth....I’m going to strip my hair with the Color our system and hopefully try to tone it. I was thinking 9n with a splash of 9rb (for dimension) or should I do Equal parts 9n 9nb and a cap of 9rb?? Your advice is much appreciated

Hi Daniella, could you please give me an advise. I have got Asian hair, when I bleach it I see red pigment, what redken eq numbers should I use to tone my hair and neutralize red to have kind of honey shades?
@jimbearone
@jimbearone 6 ай бұрын
The hair must be lifted to Orange or better still, Orange - Yellow and neutralized with a Gn one level lighter than the target shade.

Is it possible to brighten up a level 8? What would you put on a root that's 5n and brassy if it's too dark? Can I do 10 eq? I tried doing 09p and 09v it helped some but it didn't lighten much.
