"Die With A Smile" credited songwriters: Bruno, Gaga, James Fauntleroy, Dernst "D'Mile" Emile, and Andrew Watt. Producers: Bruno, Gaga, D'Mile, and Watt Guitars: Bruno and Watt Piano: Gaga Drums and Bass: D'Mile Music video directors/editors: Bruno and his current photographer/videographer Daniel Ramos Gaga said Bruno called her while she was at her studio in Malibu where she was working on her album. Bruno told her he had a song he wanted her to hear. Gaga arrived at Bruno's studio with her producer Andrew Watt at midnight, Bruno played the song, and she loved it. They then recorded the song and it was basically done by morning. Since producers nowadays also receive songwriting credit I would assume Gaga's and Watt's contributions to the song was working on the vocal production (e.g. who would sing what portions, working out harmonies, etc) with Bruno and D'Mile. Bruno and D'Mile first began working together in 2019 and produced the "An Evening With Silk Sonic" album together. James Fauntleroy and Bruno go way back to when Bruno was a songwriter for other artists before he released his first studio album. In the music video you can see D'Miile on drums and Watt on guitar. On bass is songwriter/producer Brody Brown another long-time Bruno collaborator.

I'm glad you pointed out that harmony that feels "wrong." It's my favorite part of the song. An unexpected major chord. There's a lot of subtle sophisticated things in this song, but that moment stands out for me.

This song was written by Bruno, Lady Gaga, Andrew Watt, James Fauntleroy, and Dernst Emile. The latter three are all very successful songwriters. Almost every pop song has to have a committee of songwriters these days for some reason.

Lol, its funny and ignorant how you exempt Bruno Mars in the category of 'very successful songwriter', when Bruno wrote and produced almost all of his songs. Not only that, songs that were cowritten by him for other artists achieved massive success too, like All I Ask, One Day, FU, Right Round, Love Me, etc.

Bruno Mars is an amazing songwriter, producer, and MV director. He produces songs for himself and other artists like Adele, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, Ceelo Green, Flo rida, Charlie Wilson, Lucky Daye, and the lists goes on.

Well, the simple answer is, when it comes to Bruno Mars, he writes more in a band setting starting with jam sessions. The core team of most Bruno songs typically involve 3 people, Bruno, Philip Lawrence, and Ari Levine (called The Smeezingtons, one of the big songwriting/production teams in the first half of the 2010s contacted by other artists regularly even when Bruno isn't a feature, in competition with the Max Martin team), the latter was replaced by Brody Brown post 2014 (renamed to Shampoo, Press, & Curl, focused more on Bruno this time around), but with a break for Silk Sonic where the core songwriting team is Bruno on guitar/piano, Anderson .Paak on drums, and D'mile (Dernst Emile) on bass. James Fauntleroy is a longtime friend of Bruno with whom Bruno throws around ideas for comments especially on topline melody and lyrics, most significantly on his 3rd album but on some Silk Sonic songs as well. 2/3 with 1 for comments is a pretty tight group if you ask me. Lady Gaga was invited, and because the song was turned into a duet she would of course have some of her own modifications to the song as she sees fit being a recording artist in her own right. Andrew Watt is Lady Gaga's current producer and even he admits that his role there when it comes to artists like Bruno and Gaga is mostly to referee and give comments. So in this particular song, the 3 main composers would be Bruno, Gaga, and D'mile, with James Fauntleroy and Andrew Watt giving just additional comments and suggestions. Bruno especially is known for ensuring that even those with minor contributions to the songwriting process get a small share of the royalties because he knows that he'll be able to make it back with the large recording artist share of song earnings. That's directly from James Fauntleroy, and he explains that that philosophy comes from the fact that he is a professional songwriter and producer himself so he knows what it's like to get f'ed up by share negotiations. To note though, most songwriting and production credits on Bruno's songs are almost exclusively from his circle of friends, a lot of whom he built up when he was still just a songwriter for hire. To emphasize this point, in Silk Sonic's Put on a Smile, the song was already fleshed out by Bruno, Andy, and D'mile in a jam session, then Bruno contacted his mentor Babyface, who suggested the key change in the bridge. Babyface got songwriting credits. Btw, 4 of the 5 songwriters are there playing instruments on the music video, D'mile on drums and Andrew Watt on lead guitar. Brody Brown is on bass in that video, but in the audio recording, D'mile played both drums and bass, Brody didn't participate in the songwriting here. Why complain for this song when multiple composers is common in traditional band settings? This isn't any different.

Can you be a btch somewhere else. No her version is not "better". Honestly, disparaging other singers to compliment another is disgusting. Fans are a reflection of their artists, and you come off as an attention-seeking rat.

No, don't be delusional, the live performance of this is much better, just say you prefer Morissette's vocals, this version by the original artists is very addicting for most,Mori's version is only better for her die hard fans
