Before finally blocking them, I would see those random text messages as a way of saying, trust me, I'm harmless. I'm just like everybody else. They would do this to me, in between ordering me around, virtue-signaling, infantilizing me, guilt-tripping and sulking. Three favorites: 1) "Now I'm going to do laundry and get lost in a book for a couple of hours ... can't wait." 2) "Now that I have my two hits of coffee and serving of bacon eggs and deep fried potatoes I'm ready to tackle two kitchen drawers and do a load of wash." 3) Best one: "Are you still mad?"
