I shout a move at the video. Danya: That would be a disaster. I shout another move Danya: Again, you'd be biting on granite. Me: Obvious it was named after Mr Dorf, well Naj Dorf, he was probablyRussian or Indian. I wonder if he was an ancester of Stephen Dorff who played the vampire in Blade 2. Danya: proves this incorrect. I think I've been watching these since Pogchamps 1. Pure quality.

Its the middle game attacking or winning ideas associated with all of the openings and defenses that Im lacking. Well that and talent and so much else. But I know the ideas behind say the kings indian, and after this video, I know the ideas in the Niejdorf, which I have tried, like I knew it was supposed to be opposite sides castling but this was so concrete, so I learned so much here. Daniel is the GOAT in my eyes, definitely as far as teaching

Can someone explain what happens if Alex doesn't leave his rook undefended and instead plays a different move instead of Queen c3? Is Daniel threatening a quick checkmate because I don't see it.
@DonFreeq
@DonFreeq 3 жыл бұрын
White is dead lost anyway. There is no quick mate, but there are unavoidable big material loses, partially also because of Bish on g5 and bad Queen on d2. Just a quick line - Rc1 Qa2+ Kf3 Nc5 and white is without defense. Qb4 and Qc3 run into Nxd5 with tempo and double attack losing Bish on g5. Kd1 evacuation runs at least into Nfe4 fxe4 Nxe4 Qxg5 Qb3+ Ke2 Qd3+ Kf2 Qxh1. And Be3 trying to remove hanging piece runs into Nb3 fork Qd3 lets say Qa1+ Kf2 Rc8+ Kd1 Nxf1 Bxf1 Nxd5 and black is already pawn up with viscious ongoing attack against white with zero coordination. There will be more material loses for white to follow. Edit. There are 2 more issues, not only terribly weak king. Undeveloped bish on f1 which cuts connection between rooks and abysmal piece configuration on c1-d2-g5 which allows forks from every single direction. If white would have only 2 issues there is still defensive setup possible and white is kinda fine, but with 3 issues it's slaughter time. One too many weakness.

Man I played the accelerated dragon for a while and I love it, but once I played a 1900 and got crushed with yugoslav attack, it's not fun
@kerim8769
@kerim8769 3 жыл бұрын
The whole idea of the accelerated dragon is that you can avoid the yugoslav because you can play d5 without losing a tempo. So unless you're transposing back to the regular dragon by playing an early d6 the yugoslav shouldn't be a problem. The real problem with the accelerated dragon is the maroczy bind.

@user-fg5fs5ym6q
@user-fg5fs5ym6q 3 жыл бұрын
I don't know what he would say, but probably something traditional and straightforward like the Giuoco Piano.
@unknownalsounknown4238
@unknownalsounknown4238 3 жыл бұрын
@@user-fg5fs5ym6q no NO NO , the guici piano can get very complex with the bishops on c5 and c4 respectively and has lots of theory(evans gambit being an example where you have to decline or lose due to lack of development and whites huge centre , meaning you have to play one of the refutations like andderssen variation , stone ware variation etc) some good openings to learn at the intermediate level would be the accelerated dragon sicillian for black , french defense(one I personally play) and for white either the london system or queens gambit
@Andrewhein1
@Andrewhein1 3 жыл бұрын
I dont know what he exactly recommends, but personally I’d say just play and learn italian game and its variations ( fried liver, evans gambit, etc). As black just go with standard e4 e5, and if your opponent go with italian game just reply with giuoco piano. I mean you can learn accelerated dragon but personally i only delved into that once i got to 1450+ rating. Dont be too concerned with opening theories, you just need to know general opening principles and what are the basics of each opening. Just learn by experience, try those sacrifices you’re afraid to go into and see what happens.
@redzoneitg2689
@redzoneitg2689 3 жыл бұрын
From what I recall, his general repertoire in the 1200 range of his last speedrun was: As White, 1. e4, Giuoco Piano against ...e5, Alapin against the Sicilian, Nc3 against the French, otherwise just follow opening principles; As Black, an even mix of Italian and Accelerated Dragon against e4 and Queen's Gambit Declined against d4. I would say that openings do matter at that rating range, but not in the sense of "you have to know these lines 10 moves deep against these moves", since very few people at that level are going to be playing out theoretical lines. Rather, the openings you play dictate what kinds of positions you find yourself in and what plans you will use to develop your pieces and pressure your opponent.
