I get the 4...Nf6 5...Bg4 idea you mention at the beginning of the game. But why not go with the natural 4...Nc6 and then 5.c3 Nf6 and 6...Bg4? Is there a wrench White can throw into this plan?

It's not true Danya! You make it look so easy, but I kid you not; it's not. Ughh! This has always been the biggest chess trap I always fall for-thinking this thing is easy. This ish is hard!

I play the london and caro mostly, but I also play the catalan sometimes. I'm only 1200 and I know it's ideas are complex and there is a ton of theory in the catalan. But my opponents at 1200 don't know the ideas either, and just generally it's a super solid positional opening, it does well for me. I wish there was a good video course for it, I would buy it instantly.

1. e4 e5 "Okay, so he goes e5. Now a lot of people here would just lazily develop the knight to f3, but we actually have a move here that poses a lot of practical problems for black and is borderline winning for white. The move is Ke2, and do not worry I will explain this more thoroughly after the game. Now you might look at this position and say, "isn't this weakening our king and blocking in our pieces?" And while that may be true, you guys need to start thinking long term. In the endgame, it will be a huge advantage to have our king activated in the center. Furthermore, black has no threats here. he is not going to checkmate us any time soon, the king is perfectly well defended on e2. Now he does have a nasty little defensive resource he can try here, let's see if he finds it. Wow, Ke7 he finds it. Now guys, I don't wanna hear any baseless accusations, we will check with an engine after the game. It's not unthinkable that a 1500 finds this move and no, black has not equalized, we just need to play clinically to secure.

danya i improved my games by watching how you deal with each games. what i think most important in chess is controlling your temper and looking into the game with pure logic and analysis. my problem now is i calculate opponents best moves in my opinion and decide my move but opponent makes a better move or my calculation based on visualising goes slightly wrong in board afterwards thereby weakening my position. pls give some advice. i want to be like you danya

I'm trying to relearn chess after playing seriously 35-40 years ago. I've watched a lot of these videos and they have opened my eyes to how chess can be played. I have a modest objective of learning some opening theory so that I'm not hopelessly lost after six moves! My starting point is that the French is a forced win for Black. I'm just trying to figure out why that is not the case. Thanks for all your videos.
