I know you didn’t want to mention the addresses to the two houses in Hoquiam due to privacy reasons… but neither of them was that small yellow house that was like directly behind Kurt’s moms house on the same piece of land, and There’s a picture of the house in the booklet of the With The Lights Out Boxset, which is on the second page of the booklet it’s a one bedroom house and in the booklet it says “Kurt’s home in Aberdeen, Washington. Birthplace of Nirvana. The band first rehearsed here. It’s hard to see the address but it looks like it says 1000 (and I think I remember reading along time ago it was something like 1000 (half), or something, I can’t remember… it was in Kurt’s Teenage years when he was kicked out of Wendy’s house, she helped put down a payment for Kurt to move into the small house behind her house I think it was like $100 a month the Rent, I know the house is knocked down now a days… (so Kurt lived in a lot of places there’s the 2 houses in Hoquiam, Aberdeen house, then when Kurt lived with his Dad in Hoquiam in the house that supposed to look like a boat, when Kurt lived with his dad from 1978-1982, then Kurt lived in the “Pink Apartment” with his friend Jesse Reed in Summer 1986, then Kurt lived in the small yellow house where the band first practice which is where they probably recorded the Summer 1987 Skid Row Rehearsal Tape, then Kurt Cobain moves into an apartment on Pear Street in April 1987, which he lived until 1991, then, he lived at Fairfax Apartment, Los Angeles, CA the Spaulding Apartment, Los Angeles, CA then The Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, CA, the Inn At The Market, Seattle, WA (Motel), January 1993 the Cobains (Kurt, Courtney and Frances) rented a house in Matthews Beach, Seattle, WA where they lived for a year then on January 24, 1994 they moved into 171 Lake Washington Blvd, Denny-Blaine, Seattle, WA. So If I am not forgetting any Kurt lived in 12 Different Houses.. (13 if you include the Motel the Cobains were living at from November 92-January 1993, Inn At The Market, Seattle, WA) And then to include all the houses of Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, when in Kurt’s young Teenage years he was being passed back and fourth Thru several different family members that has to be at least 18-20 places Cobain had lived the Most!!!! That’s a lot of places to have lived in just 27 years.

Yeah, I found it… the house Kurt rented was directly behind his Childhood/Wendy’s house 1210 E. First Street, and the house he rented and first recorded his music with two-thirds of the band that eventually became Nirvana. Located at 1000-1/2 E. Second Street, the home was the last place Kurt lived before moving to Olympia in April 1987 and forming the band Nirvana. (Which they played under the “Nirvana” Moniker for the first time on March 19, 1988 at the Community World Theater, Tacoma, WA) with Dave Foster on Drums. He only lasted in the band for a little less then 2 months as the first show with Dave Foster on Drums (or the First show that has surfaced with Dave Foster on drums) as we know January 23, 1988 “Ted Ed Fred” recorded a 9 and a half song demo at Reciprocal Recording, Seattle, WA which was their first Studio Demo, then after finishing up recording in the Studio they packed up their gear and then drove from Seattle to Tacoma and unpacked the van again to play a show at The Community World Theater, Tacoma, WA and the following day January 24, 1988 Kurt, Chris and Dale was at RadioShack in Aberdeen, WA and mimic to the songs “If You Must” and “Paper Cuts” as they tried to record “Music Videos” for those 2 songs which they recorded in Seattle the day before, and then the next time they played I think was March 19, 1988 which would be the first show under the name Nirvana, first show with Dave Foster (and played “Big Cheese” and “Blew” live for the first time), and if you’ve read Kurt’s Journals their is an entry of a 4 page note addressed to Dave Foster and it’s dated “May 24, 1988” and sometime in May 1988 Chad Channing joins the band….

Daniel Johnston's mom said a similar thing about Dan that Aunt Mari said about Kurt being very bright even as a baby. Communicative. Aware. And funny. I love driving into Aberdeen and seeing "Come As You Are " on the welcome sign. It's such a great phrase. Like, a perfectly peaceful thing to say to somebody. I also like the phrase, "I love you too" from the end of "Big City" by Spacemen 3. My two favorite phrases in all of rock'n'roll.

From a local (I live in aberdeen, Was taught by some of the same teachers that taught Kurt) Pretty neat video. There were a few more spots I hope you stopped and checked out. (I literally sat in the spot where he wrote Nothing on the top but a bucket and a mop And an illustrated book about birds You see a lot up there but don't be scared Who needs action when you got words. It was the top floor of the weatherwax building. Cool little hang out on top of one of the stairwells. (3rd floor I believe)

That’s a lyric from Plateau, which is a Meat Puppets song that Nirvana covered during their Unplugged show. Are you suggesting that Kurt authored those lyrics?
@dancando63913 жыл бұрын
@@TestMeatDollSteak that’s how I interpreted it. Guess I’m wrong.
@TestMeatDollSteak3 жыл бұрын
@@dancando6391 Yeah, Plateau was 100% written by the Meat Puppets. Lake of Fire and Oh, Me were the other two Meat Puppets songs that Nirvana played for Unplugged. Nirvana did a lot of covers during their career.

@@TestMeatDollSteak all I know is if you walked passed the “no admittance” sign and up to the top floor where some type of greenhouse/ aviary was there was a spot where they stored janitor supplies. That’s why I had those lyrics pop in my head because it was pretty accurate.

hoquiam is connected to aberdeen. both areas are small and connected. to say you are from one is to say you are from the other. the aberdeen ymca is in hoquiam three blocks from what he says is their first house and behind the house my family just bought. in this video it sounds so much like a different city but the locations of that house and the y where he once worked are a few blocks inside hoquiam from aberdeen and really a part of the same place.

Love your videos man. Even as long as I've been a fan of Nirvana, I never bothered to check where Olympia was on a map. BTW there's a Rancid song called Olympia, WA. I always thought Olympia was very close and like a satellite town/suburb to Seattle. Did not expect it to be that far off.
@DanielSarkissian4 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot man! Ya it's a bit of a distance from Seattle, but not far, only about an hour, less if there's no traffic. I have heard of that Rancid song actually, it'd be cool to learn the backstory to it
