He is a defently a great player. I remember the one of the first game I watched with dubov was against svane and he won some brilliant game and I watched it on agadmator channel. I thougth this guy was really good, he even won the rapid wc👏🏻

Many people here are mad about the way Dubov talks about the new indian school of chess, however it’s very obvious he’s lamenting about something that’s beyond the individual players lol. Dubov is talking about the issue of how computers have revolutionised the game of chess, particularly sucking out the creative and brilliant aspects of it, making it instead a game of memory and study. He talks about young indian players a lot because they are the best representatives of this newer approach to chess. Sure, the way he express himself is very blunt, but that’s the russian style. He’s not wrong in saying that the new chess meta is vomiting as many top engine moves in every line you decide to play as you can remember.

These russian players have such weird takes on Gukesh. Nepo/Grischuk barely insinuating that Gukesh might be cheating with all that "mystery "comment and Dubov saying that he has to prove himself while Gukesh has already passed Dubov's prime rating. Usually big fan of them but such weird takes sometimes, like they can't accept that a kid surpass them.

As russian can say, that in our chess medias everyone was amazed by new indian generation for years, but i think more people were betting on Prag because of his deep understanding, and there was an opinion for a very long time that Gukesh doesn’t have this one and he is going up on his calculations only. So maybe this is the reason for lot of russians for such takes

On that note, I am an amateur football player with great talent. Although others are not really as talented as me, they get picked up because they work hard 10 hrs every day. I do play 4 hours or 7/8 hours, but training everyday is a pain, i dont enjoy it. But they always train, I am saying this because they play better than me, only because they train harder, and they have no life, or how else can you explain this? I play for a small club, because I trained really hard and came this far, But if someone else is playing better than me, thats because they are training harder(according to me) , which is even unfair

As he said "In my personal opinion" - so no one cares literally. Every top player still wants to win the WC and fights tooth and nail to get into the candidates (remember Firouzja and his tournament, even tho he is a fashion model now). Fabi, Ian and Hikaru all looked super sad and disappointed on not winning the Candidates. Dubov talks like this coz he is a chad and also copium coz he most likely won't make / try to make the Candiates even.
