Thank you so much for putting this up - I've been waiting for it! Apparently Shafran and Zecchi just met at the studio, and recorded this without rehearsal (or so I've heard). It's wonderful that you're sharing so many treasures! Somewhere I have a video (I think - or maybe it was just audio) of Shafran's very last concert, at the Huntington Festival in Australia. Not good quality recording, but still a historic document. I'd be happy to share it with you if I can find it...

Dear Steven Isserlis, I don't have that recording that is indeed a historical document. I will be happy to have a copy. I will be posting more materials. Thanks for your enthusiasm

They play Beethoven as Polycarp and Ignatius, the very pupil of St. John, read the Gospel according to St. John. Other recordings are like really good Theologians interpreting the Gospel but Shafran and Zecchi are like "Beethoven knows us."

you are publishing pearls of a wonderful cellist every day. thank you very much for what you are doing. Could you advise me if there is a biography of Shafran and where can I find it?
