I think it's refreshing to hear Scriabin not played as if the pianist was off to a fire. Yes, this is a fast and hard piece, but he manages to let us hear more to all of the notes. Wonderful! Thanks and best
@marksmith3947 Жыл бұрын
Too many of the notes. It's as if he doesn't feel the melody is important enough. It's good playing, sure, but not convincing to me

If you think this performance is good, check your standards. They’ve fallen very very low
@LukeFaulkner5 жыл бұрын
This is how I always imagined this piece. The left-hand semi-q's are more a brooding atmosphere underpinning the haunting melody than filigree virtuosity for its own sake. Enjoyed this immensely.

Finally an intepretation that is not played too quickly! And the clean sound in the 2nd part of the beginning is marvellous.
@andreasbeschorner12157 ай бұрын
I think it is too fast. Only the beginning is an exception. In general, Scriabin is played too fast too often, thereby bluring a lot of his compositions' intrinsic polyphony. And the from 0:30 to at least 0:45 it is supposed to be "ppp".....
@DailyBach4 ай бұрын
Scriabin’s written tempo marking is dotted quarter = 84. Trifonov plays closer to 70 here. I think only Richter comes close to Scriabin’s tempo. 84 does not seem humanly possible.

This interpretation is special to say the least. This etude is a complex one with many moving parts and laters passing through eachother. Kissin's interpretation for example is very coherent, moving as one, and Horowitz's is transparent and crisp, opening up the layers of rhythm and harmony... This guy has something beyond anything ive heard. There is a depth here that is genuinely unreal, the push and pull in styles and control over the various textures. I have no idea how its humanly possible, but its the most human thing someone could conceive of.

totally the best interpretation ever of the 2 measures starting at 1:52. It's not what Scriabin wrote, since the section should be linked to the next one in diminuendo, but who cares if the effect he delivers is so powerful, and of great inspiration!

Great interpretation. A bit faster than I’m used to, but I love how he brought out the melody in the central section. Was really shocked by the length of his nails though, but then noticed he seem to play with the bottom/pads of his fingers which is a bit unusual. Interesting how many of the great pianists have unusual styles of playing that might be considered “wrong” by the traditional school of thought, but it works for them.
