Very well done, and I must say, the level of detail, colour and texture has only continued to improve since the last video 2 months ago! It feels like you're _really_ there, when Diocletian entered the city in 303 for the first, last, and only time - considering that the emperors rarely visited Rome by this time, Diocletian's visit must have been a truly once-in-a-generation event!

This is really impressive! Wow! I wonder what people at the time thought of that who didn't have any other comparison and no world view as we have today. My Latin teacher told us that behind the Emperor in the chariot, a man stood whispering in his ear, "Memento mori" - "Remember you are mortal" as a reminder against hybris. I don't remember which period had this custom or if it was always done throughout time.

WOW! That is amazing work! Like a spectacular epic movie of the 1960s! I am humbled by your great work on this monumental effort of CGI effects work. I was thinking Ottorino Respighi's classical work "The Pines and Fountains of Rome" or even Dimitri Tiomkin's excellent soundtrack music for THE FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE (1964) would be appropriate here as source music. Ave Caesar! This view from circa 303 A.D. is the last glimpse we will have of ancient pagan Rome in all its glory before it was conquered from within by the brand of Christianity imposed by Constantine I in 314 A.D. with the Edict of Milan and the Council of Nicea in 325 A.D. in which the Bible was adopted as the Sola Scriptura for the new version of the faith of Christ established by Christ and His Apostles in Jerusalem in 30 A.D.
@fredgarv7914 күн бұрын
Yes, everything is better with classical music. Respighi's music would be perfect but perhaps not grand enough. Good of you to point this out. I was thinking this as I watched it, that Christianity changed the world, that this pagan festival would be no more ,forever. Such as the animal sacrifices. Imaging walking through all this with the smells and the noise, the dirt and the grime of then

This is very close to how it looks in the classic epic movie THE FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE (Samuel Bronston, Paramount, 1964) which was an amazing fait accompli in filmmaking by building a large nearly complete movie set of the ancient Roman Forum as it may have looked during the reign of Commodus (180-200 A.D.) Because they didn't have digital CGI effects then, they built the entire complex outside of Madrid, Spain out of cast concrete and for many years it was a tourist attraction. I don't know if it is still standing and open to the public. Thank you for all your wonderful work. Unfortunately, the classic 1964 movie bombed at the box office due to its high expense at nearly $20 Million, and did not make back its negative cost for several years, like CLEOPATRA (Fox, 1963). The movie is excellent except for the fictitious ending which shows Commodus going down in a spear fight, when in reality he was strangled to death by a wrestler he knew and trusted.

@tj2745Күн бұрын
The international style of modern architecture began in the 1920s but did not gain worldwide acceptance till after WW2. The style of architecture the Nazi regime built was a continuation of the Greek & Roman style popular worldwide at the close of the 19th century & continuing into the 20th century. The Nazi use of the eagle was a continuation of it's adoption by Germany during the holy Roman empire though the party changed the direction the eagle looked to differentiate itself from the state.
