For the people saying “ Maybe she does have a little black in her” I’m pretty sure when she’s around her parents ( who doesn’t have a ounce of black in them) she’s isn’t black. She wants to be black but she’s definitely not black. She wants to be black for convince to justify her song which was a dig towards the baby mama.( even if she was a light skin black women the song is still wrong and the song is terrible). The fact that Da baby has a dark skin daughter and he’s allowing this says a lot. Just because your Dominican doesn’t mean you automatically black.

As an Afro-Latina, I see how women whenever they’re facing backlash regarding their anti-blackness they jump into the I’m black and I’m Puerto Rican, I’m black and I’m Dominican to explain that they are mixed when all of them come to Latin America and have NO IDEA how is our culture as black people here or they think because they’re not white white that they’re black when yes, they can have some in their ancestry but the DaniLeigh’s and the Evelyn Lozada’s are Mestizas (white mixed with natives). And no, being Dominican or Puerto Rican or Colombian does not make you mixed with black or that that’s a race.. you can come from two Dominicans and both of them can still be white. Also, you’re right, they don’t know what is like to hear you’re too pretty for a light skinned girl, or you’re the only black girl that I can be with or even worst, in Latin America they tell you if you’re black that you need to improve your race, that you’re race needs to progress and do so by getting with a white person. If you Rodney move to Colombia you can’t hide that you’re black and that you’re an American, the same way whenever I visit my sister in the states I can’t hide the fact that I’m a black Latina and those girls can pretend that they’re a part of every community and get away with it. I hope a lot of people can learn from this post. love you Rodney, all the way from Panama❤️❤️

@mandy43693 жыл бұрын
I'm sure someone has already said this, but colorism plays such a big part in the entertainment industry that it's ridiculous. There are so many ridiculously talented darker skinned people (specifically women) who had the potential to go so much further than they have, or who should be so much further along in their careers than they are. Kelly Rowland comes to mind, so does someone like Normani. Which is why it's so cringeworthy when Dani-whatever asked why she can't make a song celebrating beautiful light skinned women. What we're not going to do is pretend like 90% of rap/hip-hop and black culture itself doesn't glorify and fetishize lighter skinned people to an astronomical and disgusting degree.

Dark skin men are more accepted in society than dark skinned women. I think it reminds people of the mamies and racist examples of black women from back in the Jim Crow days. It’s very rare that I see a white woman with a black man that is light skinned. They’re always dark. Very dark. Idk what that’s about but it’s definitely something I’ve noticed. everybody want to be black til it’s time to be black. When I think of someone black I think of the black experience, the culture, the food, the dialect. The racism comes to mind as well. Nothing against Afro-Latinos but they don’t know that struggle. Some people use it as a vanity title such as La La Anthony and Evelyn Lozada. Both of their parents are full born Puerto Rican’s and they claim to be black too.
