A lot of you guys are asking for a Deep Purple Top 10... why not!! Let me know under this comment what's the riff that I cannot miss! 🤘🏻

Here's a list of really good Deep Purple riffs: Stormbringer, Into the Fire, Bloodsucker, Space Truckin, Deamon's Eye, Mistreated, Burn, Speed King, Black Night, Picture of Home, Smoke on the Water, Wring that Neck, Highway Star and Lazy. There are many more superb riffs from this band, but you definitely need to check out the ones from above !

@Heroin Bob The fuck? People learn Paranoid and Iron Man usually before War Pigs and either way an overplayed song isn't a bad song. I would agree if anyone were to have said that War Pigs, like Hallowed Be Thy Name, doesn't really have a signature riff. Either way, to compare War Pigs to Stairway is like comparing Bone Cancer to Influenza. Sorry for the dark comparison but seriously?

A non musician friend of mine once asked me why I love Sabbath so much. I told her that their rhythm section was unmatched. Geezer Butler and Bill Ward were the heart and soul of Sabbath. Toni Iommi is a phenomenal guitarist, and Ozzy's vocals were fantastic. But, the rhythm section just grooved underneath the guitar and vocals.
@z23xc52 жыл бұрын
Exactly that. Riffs are just melody, you need a good rhythm section to provide that wallop. I still think that Black Sabbath are still hugely underrated.
@KennelGuyTries2 жыл бұрын
@@z23xc5 This is true. I've played in bands where the bassist or drummer weren't that good and it throws the whole band out of sync.
@hesselvanderkooij4825 Жыл бұрын
@@KennelGuyTries true. We tried out a drummer in the band I was in. It sounded promising. He had graduated from conservatory, and when he came, he told alot about places he had played and so on. And he did some grooves and licks and stuff, and it all was looking good....... until we started playing the song we had sent him..... I Mean..... he had chops for sure BUT! He just didnt play WITH us. It was like he didnt listen to the song, didnt understand It, and he was just basically at being in tune with a band. It threw me off so much, that I messed up a really easy chugging bit of the song (sort of a pre chorus) that I otherwise had down to a T (I wrote It, so obviously I could play It!). Really showed me, that its not enough to have the chops and know all the theory. You need to listen as well
@KennelGuyTries Жыл бұрын
@hesselvanderkooij4825 agree. It's easy to play. When you add other musicians to the mix you have to be able to feel the groove and stay in the pocket. Especially as a drummer. If the drummer goes off the rails the entire song falls apart.

The riffs that come at the end of both Into The Void and Under The Sun are probably my favorite Sabbath riffs. That and the middle section of Hand of Doom. And the heavy ass pre-chorus in Wheels of Confusion. Or the fast riff at the end of Black Sabbath. Or the heavy riff at the end of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Or the arpeggio in the chorus of Snowblind. Or the groovy middle part of Killing Yourself To Live. Or the riff right before the vocals in The Thrill of It All. Or the middle part of Cornucopia. Or pretty much every second of War Pigs, if we’re being honest.
