villegas24, Nikki was never a GREAT bass player in anyone’s eyes. However, I can definitely say (as a bass player myself), he always played the right notes for the song. His brand of bass playing was influenced by Seventies rock, and one can hear how Tom Hamilton, Gene Simmons, and Arthur “Killer” Kane influenced the bass lines Nikki would later add to Mötley Crüe songs.

@@VerbilKint If you mean that the rest of the songs on "Theatre of Pain" sucks I would strongly disagree. "Louder than Hell" is one of my favourite songs with Mötley Crüe. Also there are a few other great songs there besides "Home Sweet Home" that is pretty good for instance "Tonight (We Need a Lover)" and "Fight for your rights".

What made Mick Mars unique was that he was a blues guy...and you can hear that influence in his playing. He's one of my fave players.....phenomenal.

Yes he is, most people have no idea. '94 album was his best work and it's gone mostly unnoticed because Vince wasn't singing. Also, check out the song "Rodeo", Mick's arrangement of acoustic with electric and his understated bluesy solo on that song are just perfect.

*nikki sixx. Nikki is the lyrics and guitar writer and you can pick that up pretty easily from writing credit, his books, and even mars saying he didnt write most of the first 4 albums guitar parts. Nikki wrote about 80% of all the guitars till feel good. Then it was 70% mars and 30 nikki.

Agreed ! without Mick .. Nikki would of have been lost and had nothing . He couldn't even play the bass right in time in the studio , for their second album . It's documented . All he can really do is write crude lyrics , and that's about it . If you listen to their riffs on their biggest hits ! Dr. Feelgood as an example .. the riff has a chord often used by Hendrix . That's Mick ! coming up with this stuff . And adapting his influences into it . He is the true hero of the band

When I was 12 and brought home a $1 album from the bargain bin, a band I'd never heard of, but going by the cover, it wasn't going to be pop, and put it in my Radiogram (yes!), I was blown away! The raw guitar sound was what really caught me, and it was different on every song! I'd bought the original release of Too Fast for Love before it was re-worked, I still crave that sound, the re-release just doesn't quite do it for me.
