Since i was born, i've lived with ducks, chickens, peacocks, turkeys, quals?, rabbits, and pegeons. lots of others but, I used to have a baby duck and i slept with her. I dont live on a farm so i kept them outside of my house lol! their soo cute!

Thank you! hehe I tend to be very gentle with animals. I had to give Spaz to a loving ranch who could care for her better than I but I also adopted a cat a few years ago and he's since gone from a 7-pound lump of fear and paranoia to a happy and joyful 11-pound cutie pie. ^_^

I'm glad you donated it to a ranch, rather than dumping it into a local pond. A duck dumped into a pond faces certain death. People need to realize that having a duck as a pet is like having a 2 year old child. It takes a lot of commitment, and clean up :) Most especially if it is imprinted to humans.

Way too cute! I'm glad she's living happily on a ranch now! When I was little my grandmother gave my brother and sister a baby duck. I was holding it and they tried to take it away from me and I wouldn't let go. They say that I strangled the poor thing! :~( I was too little to remember any of it, but I wish I hadn't gotten ahold of it in the first place!

hey everyone, thankx for the kind words. i'm sure spaz would appreciate them if she spoke english. hehe :) just wanna say once again, though, that taking care of a duck is *extremely* time-consuming and *incredibly* messy. ducks need lots of space to run, flap, swim, eat, and poop. and poop. and poop! i'd recommend checking out the ducklings at your local pet store, petting zoo, or zoo. many places let you play with them without having to take care of them! that's win-win. :)

i used to have three. they all grew up to be adults. but i had to give them away since i had to go on vacation. i had no one to take care of them for me. i had one pekin, peken ( im not sure how its spelled) just like that, a baby turky. the weird part is that i live in the county not in a rural area.Close to the cty. They lived in a pen i made in my backyard.

hehe! His name was originally Lieutenant Dan, like the "Forrest Gump" character, but since he peeps and runs around all day when he's supposed to be sleeping, Aaron renamed him Spaz. xP

Ducklings themselves are very inexpensive -- Spaz and a month's supply of food only set my roommate back $10. But they require A LOT to maintain -- a lot of money (for food, housing, toys, etc.) and tons of patience (they will literally poop any- and everywhere and half of their food winds up on the floor). If you don't have your own house (not an apartment, townhome, etc.) with a large backyard and kiddie pool, you really should let the duckling go somewhere more equipped to handle 'em! :o)

@xetbxoxo // lol that was the setting i had to make it read the time aloud in a certain voice every hour. you can change the setting to make it read every fifteen minutes, every half hour, or never, and you can change the voice to something less creepy too. lol i don't have a mac anymore so i can't say where but it's a mac. . . it shouldn't be hard to find. :b

My roommate actually bought Spaz from a private breeder in the LA area, so I'm not sure where to get one in general; sorry! Spaz eats pretty much everything. He loves grains and seafood, fruits and veggies -- and paper products! lol Birds cannot eat avocados and chocolate for sure. Also be warned that they grow VERY fast and poop EVERYWHERE. In one month, Spaz tripled in size, and I have not been able to potty train him. They need wide, open spaces, swimming water, and lots of love! :o)
