This is a Great Video Mr MBE. It's also a piece of History & I personally find it Incredibly Moving. I'm not a Dane, but I've done a lot of Research in to the History of Royalty in Denmark & HM Queen Margrethe ll & the Royal Family are as familiar to me as my own Queen, the late Queen Elizabeth ll of the United Kingdom. I will miss Queen Margrethe ll just as much as my own Queen, but at least I have the Possibility of seeing Queen Margrethe ll in future times. I have no point of Reference to this Ceremony, except the British Royalty, so I apologise to any Danes, I don't mean to cause Offence. It seems to me that the 2 lots of Cavalry Guards, the one ahead of the Carriage & the one behind, are the Equivalent of the 2 Regiments of the Household Cavalry, the Life Guards & the Blues & Royals, who provide a Ceremonial Escort to The Monarch & other Senior Royals on occasion. I don't know however if this Danish Cavalry, are also Serving Soldiers who spend 6 months on Ceremonial Duty & 6 months on active Service as the British HH Cavalry do, they are a Mechanised Reconnaissance Regiment. The Royal Trumpeters mounted on Greys are impressive, not easy to Blow a Fanfare on Horseback I would think. There are quite large Crowds of the Public lining the Procession Route from Amalienborg Palace to Christiansborg Palace, it looks like it's Snowing lightly & very Cold as you can see breathe clouds from People. I don't know if the Crowds are larger as this is the Queens last time or if this size of Crowd is Normal, I'd be interested to know, if any Danes read this. I wonder what's going through Her Majesty's Mind, as she processes through what I would think is a very well known Route. I think Copenhagen is one of the most Beautiful Cities in Europe, especially the Old Copenhagen Part. Well it's an end of an Era & the start of a New one, I wish Queen Margrethe ll, a happy & healthy life & All the very best wishes as She starts her new Adventure. I also wish CP Frederik & CP Mary & their Family the very best Wishes, Good Luck, Good Health, Much Love & Happiness as they embark on their new exciting Life.

Thank you! I can understand that fully, being British and not from Denmark but you do get a real sense of pride from this occasion seeing the people out waving to their Queen for the final time! The members of the Guards Hussar Regiment Trumpet Corps in Denmark are conscripts who serve an extended conscription to those in the Royal Life Guards (12 months) and those in the cavalry serve 16 due to the extra training required. Very few get selected each year to join this unit! The city really is beautiful and the added snow really made for this to be a magical procession.

@@MilitaryBandsEverywhere Hi MBE! thank you for the extra info. Yes, you can see Her Majesty is well loved by the People of Denmark. On reflection, this may not be the Grand Pomp & Ceremony Production of the British Royalty, but I think this quiet, dignified, Intimate Ceremony has Far more Meaning & is an example of the Real Relationship between The Queen & her People. You certainly managed to catch that sense of Pride & Reality between them. I can't help but compare that to the British Occasions such as this, where the people are kept at quite a Distance. I much prefer the Danish way!

The 5 bodyguards of The Queen that walk along with the carriage should dress in ''formal uniform or ceremony uniform'' because it is not a disguise mission but it is a ceremony mission, and beside everyone know they are the bodyguard, they just ruin the ceremony by dressing like that because they are in the eyes focus of the ceremony [ The Queen and the Carriage ].

They don't have a formal uniform. They are not royal lifeguards, they are PET (Police Intelligence Service) bodyguards.

I disagree! They are there as a Deterrent, not as part of the Ceremony. Anyone who wishes the Queen ill, will think twice seeing obvious Well Trained, Armed Protection Personnel pacing the Vehicle carrying the Sovereign. It's a sad indictment of the Times we live in that such a Force or Deterrent is Necessary.

@@vickyRoyalHistory Agree, sad times indeed. But the reason for them is actually that the royal guards technically have no jurisdiction on the road. (Wouldn't stop then from protecting the queen anyways of course). Therefore the police is needed. The royal guards are soldiers and only have jurisdiction on military areas. The royal residences are military areas for that exact reason.

@@mgordon1713 Hi mgordon! Thanks for that info. Things are a bit Different in the UK. When the Monarch & the Royal Family is taking part in a Procession, they have the 2 Regiments of the Household Cavalry as Escorts & Protection. When they are Travelling by Car, there are 2 Chase Cars of the Royal Protection Squad Officers of the Metropolitan Police guarding them. The Household Division (Infantry) is made up of 5 Regiments of Guardsmen, who are the ones that Guard the Royal Palaces in London & at Windsor Castle, they are the ones who put on a Show for Tourists, Changing the Guards. They are armed with SA80 Assault Rifles & Sidearms, including an 11 inch long, razor Sharp Bayonet. The HH Cavalry are armed with Cavalry Swords or Sabres when on Ceremonial Duties. They are Taught to use them & they must be kept Razor Sharp. They also have the advantage of sitting atop a 1/4 Ton of Horse, who are trained to Charge on Demand. All members of the Household Division are Permitted to use their Weapons anywhere they are Responsible for Guarding the Monarch & Royal Family, if there is a threat. As an example of how Good they are, in 1981 a person fired 6 Blank Cartridges at the Queen, as she was Riding to the Trooping the Colour Parade. She Quickly got her Horse under Control, the Crowd ran from where the Gunman stood, 4 Troopers from the Blues & Royals Regiment, charged the area & 2 of them put their Chargers over the Crowd Control Fence, with Swords Levelled. The only thing that saved the Gunman's life, was a Large Guardsman from the Scots Guard who was Street Lining the Route, reached over the fence, grabbed the Gunman's Shirt front & lifted him over it to the fence & put him on the Ground, then Stood over him with his Bayonet about 4" from his Nose, until backup arrived. If that Guardsman hadn't got him, the Cavalry Men would've skewered him. No, you don't want to Mess with the Household Guards.
