Brødrister yes they did. But the Jizyya is not just for not being Muslim. Who told you that ? The Jizzya is a very small tax percentage non Muslims pay. Which non Muslims don’t have to pay ? The women and children didn’t have to pay, elderly people didn’t have to pay. The only ones who payed that tax were men of military age. What was that tax for? It was used to protect the non Muslims from persecution and also the non Muslims didn’t have to go to war with the Muslims and fight with them. Non Muslims were excempt from war under this Muslim rule. And this tax being paid was very very little. Muslims pay 2.5 percent of there wealth every single year to the poor which is one of the 5 pillars of Islam. So in other words the non Muslims christians and Jews were lucky living under Muslim rule since they payed much less than the Muslims. They should be happy. Once the Muslims after 800 years got pushed away by military force, the Muslims said we cannot protect you Jews anymore and they gave the jizzya back to them. The Jews said let us come with you. This is history my friend and no escaping. Even Jewish historians testify to this. Just understand one thing though. Let’s be consistent. Just because they are non Muslims doesn’t mean they don’t pay any taxes at all. Of course some tax has to be payed so the Muslims could put that money to good use to protect them and give them there rights to practice there religion which is what the Jews did and that’s why they resurrected there history and flourished. For example, if the United States welcomes refugees into the country right. And these refugees end up getting jobs. Doesn’t mean just because there refugees they don’t have to pay taxes. There is one fundamental point being missed during that discussion on the sofa - you *cannot be forced* into the religion. So if you full heartedly disbelieve, then that's up to you! Nothing can be done abt it and his dream cannot be fulfilled. Basically It's like this - if you see something that values like gold, you want to share it and let the whole world have it. If someone doesn't want it, then I can't force you in - but still wish you have that gold.

What gets me is that non believers lived amongst the prophet, they ridiculed him, called him bad names, threw litter at him, and when the Prophet was in power he forgave them all. As a born Muslim, I do not agree with what this Muslim fellow said. I do not support enforced Islam, Sharia Law and the Caliphate, around the world or in any country. Not at all. In fact, Western civilisation affords us SO many freedoms - that we can easily practice our religions within those appropriate boundaries. Let me pray, let me fast, let me give charity, let me have couture meat and perhaps allow my dress code to be integrated into your norm (although I think that's more climate-based than anything else). That's about it. I disagree with the Muslim fellow, despite his pleasant manner. The Danish fellow stands correct.

Taqiyyah, you need to understand the history its mostly practised by the Shia, in history they were prosecuted by the Sunnis, so as not be prosecuted they behaved like Sunnis.. they enacted Taqiyyah. From wikipedia "In Sunni jurisprudence protecting one's belief during extreme or exigent circumstances is called idtirar (إضطرار), which translates to "being forced" or "being coerced", and this word is not specific to concealing the faith; for example, under the jurisprudence of idtirar one is allowed to consume prohibited food to avoid starving to death."

Well as a Shia Muslim I can easily refute the idea of this video by giving the Ayatollah Sistani issues and Friday sermons in Iraq as examples; where he completely emphasizes on diversity between faiths and races in one country. If he wanted he would turn Iraq as an Iran-like regime he would. He had and still has the power for that, yet he did the opposite. And yes of course, you can practice Christianity in Iraq where the Shia live. I even know Iraqi Christians who have love and sympathy towards Muslim holy people like Imam Hussain and Abbas. Not only Christians, even non abrahamic faiths like Yazidi live with us Shias in peace. That's why when the Kurdistan referendum happened the Yazidis stood beside Iraq, they saw help and shelter from the Iraqi Shias during ISIS occupation while the secular Barzani peshmerga left them alone.
