It’s.A.Sarah knitting podcaster lives in Denmark. I don’t have any friends or know anyone that knits so I understand what your saying. I do like the variety of knitting podcasts from all over the world and find them inspiring. I’m surprised by how many young people knit, I’ve always associated knitting with grandmothers because they were the only ones who knitted when I was young.

Hello Helle, I love your two knitting episodes. We have very similar stories. I am an academic, soon to be retired (August this year). I also was a knitter some 30 years ago before taking a long hiatus because of a busy career and family life. I rediscovered knitting this time last year and I have not put down my needles since. I have watched every podcast and learned new techniques and thrown myself into the joy of this hobby. It allows me to relax, and concentrate on something challenging outside of my research and work life. Knitting has changed so much since I first started in the 1980's. I have learned so much from the online community. I live in Ireland - I have two knitting friends but they are beginners - I persuaded them to start knitting because I wanted to have a knitting circle! But I spend most of my time teaching them. We still have fun, but I would love to be part of a larger and more experienced knitting group! I really love all of your projects. You are a very accomplished knitter! I look forward to another episode soon! Thank you so much for sharing. Caterina.

@@danishmusings I'm a bit like you, too. Though I am entering knitting for the first time, I'm retiring from many years of teaching English as a Foreign Language in the US. Instead of putting down knitting while raising my 5 kids, I put down reading. So now I've begun trying to catch up on reading, and learning to knit, which I've always wanted to do. And after having 10 years of danish au pairs, my whole family has learned to love the culture. I am totally enjoying your podcasts.

What a lovely, engaging, and sophisticated channel you have created! Like you, I do not have a knitting community (other than my sister who lives two hours away), and I rely on KZbin knitters to keep me company while I knit. I enjoy the new ideas for patterns, yarns, techniques, and oftentimes small peeks into their lives. You have a such a beautiful speaking voice I could listen to you all day and, combined with the background music and your gorgeous knits, your videos are exactly what I want during my knitting time. So thank you, and please keep 'em coming (pardon the grammar)!

Hi ! I'm Swedish, knitting in Northern Ireland. Found sweaters with Linka Neumann, wilderness sweater, so nice as a first project. Wwll like yourself I knitted when I was younger and then family came along, having had time ....still hardly have time, but ...managed to make above mentioned sweaters (hoodie versions ) in time between Christmas and a late February holiday, so that we could bering them with us. For our 15 year old daughter and myself. Now I'm making one for our 8 year ,same type of pattern ,only children's version, and instead of wool, she requested it "not so fluffy " so it's in cotton .

Hello Helle, I enjoyed your podcast very much. It is interesting to find out about yarns and designers from other parts of the world. I live in South Florida, U.S.A. were it is always summer. Ok we do have maybe five days that we consider freezing the rest of the world is thinking fall. Today it was cold in the morning it was 67°F/ 19.4°C now at 4:42 pm it is 76°F/ 24.4°C. The coldest we had it was around 58°F/ 14.4°C. So there are not many knitters or crocheters here. I learned to knit and crochet when I was five years old from my mom. Crochet is easier for me and the fabric it makes a little less warm because it has more holes. Make mostly shawls, blankets, and beanies. Air conditioning sometimes makes shawls necessary. I love your work I have not tried to knit a sweater yet. Maybe someday I will.

I found you by….I don’t know, lucky chance?, but, I love your choices for colours, and yarns. Most important sweaters. I knit for my daughters, and I like the one your wearing today particularly. Well, I have a list of designers you’ve mention. I have knitted a few of Kaffee Faccet sweaters, and Alice Starmore’s, I think her daughter is managing the wools now. But modern times call for modern designs. I now have knitted 3 of Andrea Māori sweaters. And definitely going to knit the one you have from Anne weltzen. You know I send her a mail asking about yarn….she responded asap….so. Nice. Love your videos. Thank you.

I'm doing a palate cleanser knit at the moment a simple cardigan, bottom up the old fashioned way with a 50% wool 50% bamboo yarn that I'm trying for the first time. Nearly didn't start it when I realised the structure, but I wanted to test the yarn and I just needed uncomplicated and predictable right now. The yarn is pleasantly soft and springy with shine and some drape. I can't wait to wash it when done to see how it feels. I hear you with the need for a knitting community that is like minded. It would be so nice to have those people closer for the mental and physical experience. I to desire this. Not so easy, recently retired and I moved to a new town just a few months ago. We will see what the future brings once I lean in. That's why I watch videos like yours, you are my community for now.

Hello Helle, I had to check out your channel after it was mentioed on the Knit Together with Kim and Jonna podcast, and I am so glad I did! You ooze calm and kindness, you have a beautiful voice and an interesting story! Your knitting is gorgeous - you are very accomplished and I am in awe at how many beautiful sweaters you have created in just over a year. What you said about "needing" yarn was so wise, and really resonated with me. I love knitting but I realise I get a bit anxious when I think about all the beautiful projects I see and would like to make... because really I don't need so much. I also have a very intellectual job, and knitting deifinitely feeds my creative desires, and gives me joy and focus, especially at the end of a busy day. But I do my best to make conscious choces about the materials and the designs I choose. I just finished the April cardigan by Petite Knit, and I am right now swatching for the Maeron sweater. I have knitted a few designs by Midori Hirose and they are gorgeous. Like you, I don't have knitting friends nearby, so I am very grateful to all the lovely podcasters who create great content and a sense of community. Thank you! I'll definitley watch your other knitting episodes, but I am very curious about the other videos you create, too. Warm greetings from an Italian knitter in Scotland 🤍

Hello dear Helle, it was so lovely to see and hear your podcast. I am definitely a knitter and it was so good to hear such a polished and professional video. We appreciate that so much. I love the sweaters you have been making, and in your country, you can make thick and warm garments but here in Australia, it is so tropical and warm in my state, Queensland, that we are more inclined to make 4ply garment and lighter garments. some of the large shawls just don't work here and it's rather expensive to be purchasing 7 skeins of yarn just for the experience so we are choosy about what we make. I usually create my ceramics and listen to podcasts but oh gosh, I had so much trouble hearing you - I had my laptop on the loudest it could be and the podcast sound as loud as it could be and it was hard to hear unless I was very close to the screen. on another note, I totally understand how knitting can take over :-) I think we all have the bug and it's so wonderful. Thanks again, and hope to see you again soon. Linda x

What a joy your videos are! While pondering the Danish tendency toward neutrals, I’m thinking of many others who really prefer neutrals. I know many Americans (even Stephen West who lives in Amersterdam, I believe) who prefer wild and bold colors. But there are many who prefer soft and neutral colors and consider them much more sophisticated. I don’t think there is a wrong answer. Knit what makes you happy! I personally find myself sometimes going one direction, and years later I cycle in the other. Currently, I’m more into neutrals and softer colors. I loved the soft pink held with the cream mohair you showed us that will become the test knit sweater! I was intrigued by the lavender and green combination which translates to a soft blue when viewed from afar. I can’t wait to see how that looks once you get going. Your sweaters are works of art and I hope to follow you and see what you knit this year. I am working on an Andrea Mowry sweater called Throwover and has a color work yoke, knit in the round, top down. I also love her knitting videos. May you knit on with peace and joy, and I will try to do the same. Knitting cheers from Texas!

Hello again Helle - like others here, I'm a virtual knitting buddy! I do not have local knitting buddies as well. I too tried to join a knitting group back in 2019 - not the same wavelength as you described. I'm on part 2 of my knitting life after giving it up with careers and young children filling my time. I picked it back up with a passion in 2019. And now a weaver as well as of last year! As an American - I am so drawn to the quiet of Scandinavian designs and yarn! Isn't it funny how we need a rest from what is around us. I have wanted to knit your FO you're wearing (stunning by the way) - but felt intimidated. Learning that you translated the pattern to English - well, that tipped me over the edge - I must knit it now! Plus what a lovely connection. I am not one to comment - but this is my third time commenting on your videos. You have such a warm and welcoming presence - soothing music, visuals, ... all of it. I also love all the topics you share! We are all looking for ways to calm our nervous systems and find joy. I find this space nurturing and inspiring. Calming yet energizing. I knitted a Foxthoughts! I made a cardigan, and sadly, I always knit a size too big. This resulted in the neckline being huge. I have to sit down sometime and see if doing a crochet chain around the neckline will help draw it in or something. Such a waste otherwise. I absolutely love your Obba sweater! And the Snow crocus -- I didn't need to be reminded of that one. lol! I love the colors you use and have ambitions to choose some yarn next time that is more your color palette. (I'm drawn to brighter colors in general.). I'm slowly catching up and watching various of your podcasts. My husband and I are building a small cottage right now and I'm taking inspiration not only from your knitted sweaters but also the interior of your hous!

I happened upon your podcast (episode 1) and I just loved the array of sweaters. I’m presently finishing the “The Easy Baby Blanket” from Purl Soho as I just welcomed my second granddaughter. I’m very inspired and my next project will be a sweater. By the way your background music is so soothing.

Always grateful to hear about your knitting projects❣️ I thought I had put my wool away for the year (have new projects on the needles at the moment in cotton and another in linen) but already am going crazy and ordered more wool to sneak in a little lightweight top when I need a break from wrestling with my linen. 😬 PS I love the upcoming test knit. So lovely.

I found your podcast by happy accident and SO enjoy listening to you talk about your knitting!! I live in the southern part of the USA so there is not much use for wool sweaters, but I absolutely LOVE seeing your beautiful sweaters!!

Thank you for another lovely episode. Your aesthetics, your choice of yarn and patterns are so inspiring and are so much up my alley, that i can´t wait to see more. I also don´t have a knitting community at the moment and your and other knitting creators´ videos are definitely filling this gap for me. I hope we both will find our knitting pals eventually.

I’m sorry to hear you’re a solitary knitter, too; at least we have KZbin (I tried looking up your channel, but nothing showed up 🤷🏼♀️). Nice to know that there’s someone out there who shared your/my aesthetics. Happy knitting to you 🤍

I’ve watched your two first episodes and I’m obsessed! Your yarn and color choices as well as the patterns you make are stunning and you knit so beautifully! I’ve already added 4 sweaters to my “to knit” list😂 I also wish I had more knitting friends. After watching so many Americans have this amazing knitting communities it made me want something similar, but I have not been able to find that for myself, it’s sad but podcasts like yours are now places I go to for inspiration and even “companionship“

You must be a fast knitter! Your first video blew my mind! So many gorgeous finished sweaters. I love Andrea Mowry. I have made a few of her patterns. I am pasting on a Putney pullover sweater by Ami Lowden for my adorable granddaughter who will turn 16 next month. She will be so surprised and happy. I will not be surprised if you find superwash easier to tolerate next to skin. Your hot pink colorwork is wonderful! And both finished projects are exquisite!!! Happy Knitting!

Thanks so much, I’m not a fast knitter, it’s just hours and hours om the sofa really. Your projects sound lovely 💗

Hello, I am a new subscriber, from Nova Scotia Canada. I would call myself a passionate knitter too and I have been knitting for 53 years now. I like two projects on my needles too. But sometimes - like now - the projects are not varied enough to just have two. I am making a top down sweater and a cabled scarf, both of which are repetitive. I think I am going to add a colourwork cowl, just to make the knitting more varied. I find it amusing that at 60, for some odd reason this year, I need scarves, hat, mitts, and cowls.

I love the colours you have chosen for your Spots sweater, beautiful. I’m an ex teacher too. I belong to a knitting group, we have been meeting for many years. I’m on a low spend year this year so trying to use yarn in my stash. I’ve just ordered a yarn advent though, oops!

Dear Helle, I am a long time knitter but had recently done less and less. But your last knitting vlog and your Instagram posts inspired me to pull out a sweater quantity of yarn from my old stash and give it a go. And I must say I am loving it again! I am knitting the Sandy Neck Pullover by Moira Engel in a taupe colored yarn for one of my sons (whoever wants it). There are cables down the front and back and it has been so fun to watch the twists and knots develop. So thank you for giving me a friendly little push. I'm happy to be knitting again. I think your current project is stunning and will bring a smile to everyone who sees you wear it. We all need more color, especially during the winter months. And I'm glad you have a cake winder and swift. They are marvelous. AND, YES, you do need more yarn. You are making such lovely pieces of fiber art, relaxing yourself and bringing beauty to your world (and our world because you share!) Thanks for another beautiful video!

Karen, what a thoughtful and encouraging comment, thank you. So happy to know you’ve picked up your knitting again; I checked out the sweater design on Instagram - gorgeous cables! I’ve always liked cables, too hthere will be plenty in my next project) ☺️ Lovely to know you’re following my little knitting journey here; thanks for sharing yours a little ❤️

Agree swatching is important if you want your sweater to fit! The sweater you are wearing is lovely and WIP with bright fuscia colourwork is beautiful! The podcasts you mentioned are my Favourites, as well. Other great podcasts you should check out in which the knitters knit mostly sweaters are 1) Knit Together with Kim and Jonna 2) Wool and Wine and 3) The Knitty Stew. Thanks for another inspiring podcast!

It’s a pleasure to see your yarn combinations and pattern choices! I have knitted Andrea Mowry’s Velvet Mirror Cowl using the same yarns as she did in her pattern. It was so much fun to knit the color work and I love wearing the cowl! I also have the pink velvet sweater pattern, but I have not yet knit it. I think I prefer cardigans. I’m not experienced enough to experiment with turning a sweater into a cardigan. Please continue to share your knitting!

Thank you - and I kind of agree with you re cardigans; it’s the steaking that I’m wary of (and the too many purls my wrist is weary of 😌)

Hello from Texas! What a joy to find your knitting episodes! Your sweaters are so lovely. It’s nice to share a “chat” about projects and yarns. I mostly knit cardigan s..recently..The Whitmoor..and a PetitKnit pattern Anker . Both enjoyable knits as well as extremely wearable. In Texas ..near Houston winters are usually brief and temperatures not too extreme. It seems you have many friends following now..😊. Anytime you want to jump on and share your loveliness we will be waiting!

Hello Helle...I am so glad I found you! I absolutely love your choice in colors and your classic designs in your knitting. I too am a new returning knitter, that started in her 20's, and who has recently ventured out from hats, hats, and more hats to gloves and now my first sweater. My simple first choice for a sweater has been the Flax Sweater by tincanknits. I am so enjoying your knitting musings, and having checked out your other content, enjoy it as well! I am a recently retired 1-3rd grade teacher, mother of 2 grown men, and grandma to 6 beautiful boys & girls. I especially liked your video about your choice to leave San Diego (I live north in the San Francisco Bay Area), and your return to the country in which you were born, what a courageous move for an 18 year old. I was born, raised, and now continue to live 20 minutes from where I was born, in Clayton, California. We are getting ready to sell our home & move to another part of the country, mostly for economic reasons, as the Bay Area is becoming so expensive we can't afford to retire here. It will take all the courage I have to make such a drastic change in my older years. However, I think I am ready to do so. Anyway, thank you for your decision to share your knitting content, none of us are just into "one thing" that defines us, we are so multifaceted beings. I also love to spin yarn, crochet, embroider, paint with watercolors, teach anything I am passionate about, and I adore horses, dogs, cats, chickens, birds, and really any of God's creation...nature being at the top of my list! I hope you are having a lovely weekend, and I can't wait to watch more of your wonderful content! You can find some of my creations on Instagram as, ssolnok (showing my love for making soap, knitting, and crochet. Off to get started on the Flax Sweater...bye for now. Sue

Thanks for your thoughtful comment. I agree that we are multifaceted, and so often we forget and limit both ourselves and others. Best of luck to your on your move; I know that can’t be easy. But then life is full of phases, isn’t it? ❤️ All the best.
