I love Kentucky! I think she will place high at MU 🤍 In terms of production, I would have changed the music & crowning moment. I was confused with them starting out at 4th place, 3rd place..etc. Then no final moment with the two girls holding hands 🥺 Felt more like a Miss World crowning than Miss USA.
@benpogi4ever

Agree. 4th place is equivalent to 3rd runner up, 2nd place = 1st runner-up, etc.... Looks more like a "Miss Earth" placement because there are only three runners-up and a winner. I wonder why such placements were called as such this year???

Other than Miss Maryland, none of the walks were exciting. Since that was the same for all of the candidates, I felt the generic walks were a planned or requested thing. What I’m HOPING is that Miss USA will BRING the walk at Miss Universe because the other Miss Universe candidates most certainly will. Our Miss Universe will be a mystery as we’ve not seen much of her prior to the Miss USA pageant. I hope she’ll be far more prepared and visible than our previous Miss USA. There is already soooo much more press and hype surrounding the other Miss Universe candidates. I want to see a fabulous wardrobe, presence on performance from Elle. Being that she’ll be late to Israel, she could parlay that late arrival into moments that can highlight her. She has all it takes to be fierce. She just needs to unpack it and bring it.

Hi Dani. The production is surprisingly better, short and precise. 2 hours are perfect for a live show. Zuri Hall was amazing and she can handle hosting the whole show by herself. Group discussion is a great addition. Would love to have the final 4 instead of the final 8 when announcing the winner (remind me of Miss World). I totally agree with you regarding the video info of all delegates. I've refrained from watching any bio/information for the girls to avoid any bias. My personal judgement is based on 3 categories; first impression (delegates introduction) and presentations for Swim/Athletic and Evening wear. My scores for each category would be Yes (4 points), Maybe (2 points) and No (1point). The maximum score of 12 points and a minimum score of 3.

I liked how Miss Kentucky started off her final answer with strong words like macro and micro, but then at the end I thought “so how do you suggest businesses to be environmentally conscious?” Because when you think of her answer it was just another “we can make changes in our daily lives” while it’s absolutely true, we’re past that point and need stronger ways to make a change.

Like i can see Illinois, North Carolina, Florida or Kentucky winning it. 2 things that have to be improved: 1) generic swimsuit / evening gown competition walk; everyone using the same template and personality & energy r apparently lacking 2) winner announcement is sooo rushed!

They only ones I felt that deserved the crown were Texas, Kentucky, and Maryland. These were the only three who felt ready for the competition coming up in two weeks. However, I think Maryland would’ve been the best candidate. Kentucky gives me Kara McCullough vibes and I think she’ll place just like how Kara did (Top 10). Good enough to advance to evening gown, but not good enough to break into that Top 5/6 USA has been struggling to achieve lately. Meanwhile, Maryland’s walk has a lot of movement and spice. It can come off as over-performing at times but it’s generally fun to watch. Plus, she’s an excellent speaker too. She would’ve been USA’s best shot at entering the final round :/

I do agree that MUSA2021 production can be improved. But it's understandable given its the 1st venture of the new director. As to the winner, Kentucky really sealed the deal in the Q&A. I like the format of the casual interview there we can really gauge who will shine in a group setting. But I also wish there is still a final question if they trim down the ladies to top 3. Elle's gown is fine with me as to the shoulder strap I think it's OK it gives an illusion of a broader shoulder which will also highlight that she has a thin waistline. Thanks Dani for sharing your experience and observation in MUSA202. Have a great week ahead.

It may be because of his close door interview and attitude towards the people in the Organization, pageant sisters, and each of the the assigned person that look for them. I also find his answers or the way he answers interview question very sarcastic and rude way specially in that boy abunda interview. Do you think it’s a bit unfair to have 2 groups in the roundtable discussion? The second group has more time to relax and calm their nerves down. Plus, this time, since it’s the first time they’ve done this, they got to hear/see how the first group did. I think that’s partly why the second group had better overall answers in general. 🤷‍♀️

Despite the slew of new restrictions, Israel will still host the Miss Universe beauty pageant on December 12. Tourism Minister Yoel Razvozov said on Sunday that participants will be granted waivers from the curbs while possibly being subjected to regular PCR testing among other health measures. "This is an event that will be broadcast in 174 countries, a very important event, an event that Eilat, too, is very much in need of," Razvozov told reporters.

I had so many thoughts watching! I agree with almost everything you said! I do hope in this era, they will bring the pageant back to either being televised or just streamed through something more accessible! I really didn't like crowning. It was RUSHED and I like when they do a traditional top 5! Also you could see the pageant joy radiating off you in this video and it was contagious! :) I did miss getting to know the contestants. I obviously had done my research but for my fiance watching with me, I know he would have appreciated the bios. I don't miss video packages! Get rid of those!!! I commented on a past video how one of the years in the past, they each had a day on snapchat to take us around and we got to know them. I reallllllly liked that and hope they use social media to their advantage in this era as well! Lastly, I totally agree with someone below that said have them do state costume in the opening to the show. YES YES YES!

I would’ve done it in a red carpet sort of set up (instead of the round table) so the girls still can wear their gowns. And agree with you regarding the winner announcement too. Even if they want to do what they did with top 8, they still could build suspense. They can actually copy Miss World, because that’s basically what they’re doing with the winner announcement and still have the suspense

The crowning was rushed and it did lose the suspense by not having the last two. But I was glad the runner up got her moment although they could have slowed it down. I prefer they say runner up as opposed to 3rd place 2nd place. Hate the fan vote making it to semis. I prefer final 5 and perhaps announce 2nd and 1st RU which would then leave 3 for suspense. Last 5 standing was too many women and camera could have looked at each one left slowly but no just like that winner was announced.

Woah, the pageant had a sensual flair, from the opening dance movements in all black form fitting tops and high heels accentuating toned legs, to the contestants seductively posing with wind swept hair, to the provocative gyrating around and on chairs, reminiscent of Beyonce’s sexy“Partition” chair dance, to the, thank goodness, cape-less and, even sashless , swimsuit walk, to Miss USA 2020 commanding center stage in thigh high leg warmers, giving flirtatious glances at the camera. I do wish the pageant would not cut off abruptly after the crowing, and bring back the bios of the finalists talking about their careers, aspirations and family. Further, I miss the side commentary as given by Lu Sierra and Carson Kressley. Would probably need to expand to three hours to include the preceding. Did not care for Ja Rule serenading serenading the contestants. Rather than rap, prefer more of R&B/dance music ala Ne-Yo. I was hoping Miss North Dakota would win. To me her facial beauty is up there with Halle Berry and Natalie Wood in their prime, and she came across so approachable and articulate in interview clips. Also has a Dani Walker smile! She came close! Young at 21. Comments given before listening to your video. Now going to press play to hear your review!

1. Opening attire should have been different for the final. 2. Contestants intros should include more info other than them saying their names and states. 3. Swimsuits for the swimsuit competition should've been different for the final. Same sponsor but different style for the Top 16. 4. Delighted that Top 16 competed in swimsuit and gown ... yay!! 5. Delighted to see gowns from a variety of designers ... yay!! 6. Delighted the Top 8 had an informal interview to relax them before them answering their selected judges questions. (KENTUCKY cemented her victory the moment she said - "From a macro and micro". And the way she formatted her response with a solution. Yes, she understood the assignment 👏🏾. 7. Another change I would've added was a Top 4 and have them answer the same question. That's added pressure for sure and it adds more suspense. Also gives a perspective on how each women views a very specific topic differently or similarly. 8. Delighted that there weren't video packages. I've worked in production for a long time and when it comes to pageantry, I've often said how these packages influence the judges scores. So it was refreshing to have that component eliminated. 9. Choreography/production format for Miss USA should be different from Miss Teen USA for a multitude of reasons, especially since both events are on the same stage. 10. I Loved the Host - she was on point. The co-host seemed a bit nervous. 11. Delighted that men are back on the judging committee - yay! Although there should always be a former Miss USA on the judging panel. just a thought. 12. North Dakota, Florida, and Illinois placing as runner-ups was not too surprising... I mean their faces were all stunning. Kentucky's face, energy, and overall presence was very well rounded. Overall the Top 8 was amazing an no surprises there. I was only saddened the Michigan didn't advance to Top 16. 13. I believe the Crowns should be bigger and more elaborate than the newer tiaras for TEEN, USA, and UNIVERSE. 14. The Miss USA and MISS UNIVERSE competitions should be held at least 3 to 4 months apart. Gives time to media and visibility in various capacities to promote delegates and build up anticipation for the excitement/interest of competitions. 15. I'd like to see the judges scores be seen for the television audience - just for transparency during the Top 16. I know that's easier said than done though for a multitude of reasons. 16. Dani - great post as always... keep them coming. Because #PageantMania is in full swing with so many competitions taking place within an 8 week span. Cheers 😘

Very disappointed in show. No top 5 no first runner up. Terrible male Co host.very rushed. Poor Cable Network broadcast FYI. 16 semis no top 10 and left girls standing on stage with nothing in final 8. Miss Kentucky rushed to go to Miss Universe no preparation or anything. Poor schedule of pageant Move it mid late Summer.

I think poor pageant schedule is an unfair criticism. Miss USA announced this date in January, way before MU announced their 2020 edition. The assumption was that because the 2020 edition was in May, the next MU edition would also be in May 2022 or somewhere there. They learnt late, after agreements with Tulsa city that MU was planning a December edition. They couldn’t back out or change dates.

Agree with so much of what you said. However, I really really disliked the Black Leotards as the first presentation of the ladies to the audience. I found it jarring and overall a cheap cop-out. I too, loved the Host but would of preferred a more polished co-host. Why Not YOU Dani?? You’re so well spoken, experienced and gorgeously camera ready!!! JMHO….lastly leaving 4 Contestants standing there is just plain weird! Reduce the number from 8 to 4 or 5 depending on how you count USA, 1st and so on. I think Ms Stewart has a lot of work to do and I applaud her. As for the former Miss USA’s, they should’ve been introduced. To have them standing there on stage not knowing who was who was sad. I recognized SIX of them. Elle IS gorgeous and I was routing for her, North Dakota, Texas, Illinois and Florida. Florida reminded me of Miss Venezuela and South Africa of a couple of years ago. But when Elle wins a Miss Universe, North Dakota will take over!! LOVE your Channel Dani ❤️

Overall I loved the show. I loved the female host but the guy host was terrible. He shouldn't have been there. I didn't like the way they did the placements, bring back the traditional placement announcements. I totally agreed with Kentucky, North Dakota and Florida in that order. North Dakota was my personal favourite but Elle really deserved the win after her final answer. Poor North Dakota always the bridesmaid. Loved the gowns this year. All in all Crystal Steward did a fantastic job.

I agree on the contestant bios and video packages. Those were not a part of the NBC/Trump era when I completed and not only do the “frame” contestants, it dragged out the top 16 announcements and took away from the actual competition. I felt like this was one of the best judged Miss USAs in a long time with that omission.

In my opinion North dakota or N.carolina has morre appeal for top 5 at M.Universe... Kentucky as compared to Miss Colombia, Paraguay India and Brazil ..nope..maybe top 10 because of the sash factor... The 4 I mentioned screamed Miss universe..

Since it was the 70th anniversary, i was expecting a better tribute. They could have done it right if they just mentioned the formers' names and years that they won. It wouldnt take more than two mins from the handful that were onstage. I understand that every second on primetime TV is precious but hey it's an anniversary show and Crystle's debut as MUSA main maven

1. the, “girl chat” moment was awesome! i hope they continue that, and i hope that future contestants use it as an opportunity to BE THEMSELVES (relatively speaking). ky, md & nd were good at threading that needle. 2. ky putting her hair up for finals also contributed to the straps of her dress not looking so heavy. 3. what does one call the other 4 girls who didn’t place? are they just top 8? final 5? that format will take some getting used to. 4. you went competition professor on the vid packages… it makes PERFECT sense, and makes me give a lil’ low key side eye to a couple recent miss usa’s & universe’s 👀 lol.

in other pageant systems that have a similar format for announcing winners (miss world, miss international), the girls who aren't runners-up are just known as the top 6, top 8, etc.

24:17 -- I agree. They played the 2015 MU prelim evening gown instrumental music during the final question round and that truly sounds relaxing both to the audience and, more importantly, the candidates.

The hostess was fantastic!!!! The guy I could give or take. Lots of ads which I get. I was a huge fan of Louisiana and was sad she didn’t final. I thought the show was A HUGE IMPROVEMENT but it’s not there the show still needs a little work lol listen to me, but music, the final 8 thing, and the hosts “best view” segments were weak. I also miss final look, and the music for top 16. If they would bring that music back from the trump era I would be happy with that. Specially for miss universe. Kentucky was a good choice this year, she wasn’t my favorite but hey improvement!

AGREED!! I really disliked how they handled the crowning! The first runner up and 4th runner up had the same experience, there should be building suspense! For us it was like “shoot okay what 5 are left? Okay so they all either won or got nothing??” Super strange! I think Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina and Texas actually handled the round table discussion and questions the best. They shared the most personal examples that allowed us to get to know them so I was SHOOK with the final placements (other than Kentucky of course!) But I have to remind myself that it’s cumulative and the final decision isn’t based on the answers alone.

The last 5 minutes was everything. I saw that producer magic at american idol where i watched the lady cut the camera guy off then dramatically act out how she wanted the girl to answer... As for budget , Kansas had no problems😂 girl friend had LED lights in her costume hand painted by a professional designer and a gown from the same collection as miss peru 2020.

North Dakota has only placed five times at Miss USA but in those times it always finished at least top 6. And their 2014 candidate was also 1st runner-up in both Miss USA and Miss Teen USA!

To be honest, I m little disappointed with few changes in the competition like they remove last two standing girls, the host announcing the runner ups and finally the winner etc. And sorry, I didn’t like the male host...too plain! Steve is better. I am guessing this year’s Miss Universe will have the same format like Miss USA. Anyways good luck, Elle.

Kentucky, Maryland, South Carolina & Florida were my choices for the crown. I’m glad they went all the way to Top 8 & one of them actually won! I said it before & I will say it again. If one of them wins Miss USA, then prepare to put USA in the Top 5 Miss Universe! I’m surprised NY didn’t make it. Not actually surprised Nevada didn’t make it though.. His presence is more than enough to represent whatever he wants to convey.. At least the Org still chose a natural-born woman. Kuddos to the judges.. How I wished they still have the video packages for each contestant just to know them a little better.. I also don’t like the manner of announcement. I was hoping the Top 8 would still be cut to a Top 3 & have a common final question.. And then have a 2nd ru, 1ru & then the winner.. Congratulations Kentucky and USA for having a strong contender to Miss Universe this year!

Quite to be honest, I was a little bit dissapointed about the show at the end. I was expecting that they can reveal 2 finalists who have better scores at question round. I agree with you that I miss the holding hand moment with 2 finalists. I was surpised when Texas was not in any places because i do think Texas had a good answer as well. Definitely no surprise after listening Miss Usa 2021's answer. It was like Boomed, there we go, that's Miss Usa 2021 we will have. But the show has gone great, just a little MEH....at the end. Lets see what Miss Usa 2021 will bring to the Miss Universe 2021 over to other candidates. Much love to new Miss Usa 2021 Kentucky Elle Smith from VietNam

I only have one thing to point out here Dani... Why did the Miss USA org. held the competition this late though.. Like Miss Universe 2021 is already starting and some of the representatives had already arrived in Israel. I feel like the crowning Miss USA 2021 won’t have much experienced being Miss USA, won’t have enough training, she didn’t do much on her reign prior coming to Israel to compete, etc etc etc... So how can she answer questions in Miss Universe later... I mean its like, u just learned a topic on a specific subject and then tomorrow is examination day, so how are u going to have enough practice to ace... hahha I just feel that Elle Smith won’t have that Miss USA experienced before competing in Miss Universe..😄
