With 1200 subscribers on my chanel, somewhere I never thought I would get. I wanted to just say thank you Dan for helping me stay on track and make some sense of the business side of things and how I can keep growing. I just purchased the 2 hour writer and already I can feel its value. As someone who is dyslexic and living in a caravan without any utilities whatsoever- So no heating, lighting, running water, WiFi or signal and regularly falls to -5 ar night. I was really really struggling to see what i actually had to offer. But now, I realise that to build a monetised youtube in the environment I'm living in, is actually pretty hard-core. Heard a wonderful quote a few years ago. I don't know who it was but it went a little something like this: The middle class is evaporating and the line is narrowing between high and low income. You're either going to become an entrepreneur or you're going to work for one. I'm 60 years young. Technically a Jones Boomer but applicably a GenXer. I worked for other people my entire life, bar business mostly, right up until 2018 when I heard that quote and something about it hit hard and I vowed I would never, ever work for anyone else again. I shifted focus on becoming an entrepreneur for my Second Act. The pandemic was a lifesaver though. I discovered doordash which sucks but it's kept me from having to work for anyone else and I can focus my entire existence on building and learning and now for 2024 I'm about to launch not one but six ventures because why go small?

I agree 100% about the importance of synthesizing information and being creative to educate, entertain, and inspire for future success. And I'd say that imo these are probably going to be defining factors of success moving forward. And while AI's developing role in content creation sparks controversy re: copyright, originality, etc, I find it invaluable as a brainstorming aid and idea generator. And for a decentralized creator economy it provides a means of levelling the playing field somewhat. Ultimately though, human insight (new and old knowledge assimilation and combining) and emotional intelligence (our unique way of viewing the world and our localised, both geographically and field of focus, environment) are essential to authentic and audience focused content (personal brand) 🧑‍🎨

Dan, I would sincerely love your take on what artists should be doing (besides educating about art). Music is an example of something that's lost most of its inherent monetary value in the past 20 years. As of now it's basically down to film/TV licensing, constant touring or Patreon. But I feel that your way of looking at things is a much needed alternate perspective in that space.
