Heard a wonderful quote a few years ago. I don't know who it was but it went a little something like this: The middle class is evaporating and the line is narrowing between high and low income. You're either going to become an entrepreneur or you're going to work for one. I'm 60 years young. Technically a Jones Boomer but applicably a GenXer. I worked for other people my entire life, bar business mostly, right up until 2018 when I heard that quote and something about it hit hard and I vowed I would never, ever work for anyone else again. I shifted focus on becoming an entrepreneur for my Second Act. The pandemic was a lifesaver though. I discovered doordash which sucks but it's kept me from having to work for anyone else and I can focus my entire existence on building and learning and now for 2024 I'm about to launch not one but six ventures because why go small?

With 1200 subscribers on my chanel, somewhere I never thought I would get. I wanted to just say thank you Dan for helping me stay on track and make some sense of the business side of things and how I can keep growing. I just purchased the 2 hour writer and already I can feel its value. As someone who is dyslexic and living in a caravan without any utilities whatsoever- So no heating, lighting, running water, WiFi or signal and regularly falls to -5 ar night. I was really really struggling to see what i actually had to offer. But now, I realise that to build a monetised youtube in the environment I'm living in, is actually pretty hard-core. Dan, I would sincerely love your take on what artists should be doing (besides educating about art). Music is an example of something that's lost most of its inherent monetary value in the past 20 years. As of now it's basically down to film/TV licensing, constant touring or Patreon.
