Worked in a Friends Shop in the 80's ...Ultimate Spearguns ..He had an over under "double barrel" and my favorite ...the "light gun" with a custom made light built in to the nose of the gun ..A magnetic switch just where your thumb could turn on the momentary switch...and rechargeable ..closest thing to a laser sight I ever saw ... He also had "bullpup" guns with the sears made way back allowing a 60 inch shaft gun to be much shorter ... We also made "disposable" powerheads by the 1000's .. @daveobsoleteammo4547 Жыл бұрын
You get better with practice but most Free divers do not concentrate on killing the fish outright because of the line attached . Dan has to either kill the fish outright or damage it enough so that it will not get away with your spear . Having a line attached is troublesome when you are spearing around wreckage because of wires and doors that a fish can go thru , and you have to untangle that to get your spear free to get the fish .

This is the best spear-fisherman in the world no doubt about it! Wouldn’t be surprised if he was a military diver… never misses a shot, always comes up with at least 7 fish at crazy depths, and is super religious about his air times. Dan was definitely born to to do this and for anyone trying to be remotely close to this good has to follow the same steps and procedures he does as he sets the professional limitations that one could just never exceed. Sick videos Dan, love the set up on the gun super smart and efficient would be cool to dive down and watch personally but i could just keep watching it on the box while i eat dinner. Great content but honestly don’t like to see that many grouper taken off of 1 reef especially after you said it was a high pressured spot (even within daily bag limit). That was kind of like a slot machine…Lol Really enjoyed the video! If you don’t mind, could you explain the commercial values of the fish you shoot. Which is most valuable and such? Thanks!
@daveobsoleteammo4547 Жыл бұрын
Since Dan is fishing under a Commercial License what he chooses to take is mostly determined by his supplier . HE takes Gags first because they will scoot off and leave quickly when the shooting starts . Many other types will stick around , and so he can get some of those if time still allows . The Gags pay around $5 - $6 a pound , and he can take as many as he can find because the Commercial guidelines are done on a total weight for the season . The AJ's are required to be at least 3 feet long to be legal for Commercial fishing , and so they are between 40 - 70 pounds each mostly ( he normally lets the bigger ones go for breeders ) and only sell for $1.50 a pound or so . The AJ's have a 1,000 pound limit for the trip on the water , and they try to get close to that 1,000 before they go back in .
