Aaron, with my Red Wings, whenever I get a new pair I apply and apply and apply again Bick's 4 to that pressure point which is killing you. It really softens the leather in that area and Bick's does NOT darken leather.

Sizing for Nick's is very similar to Red Wing Heritage. So you're probably a size 10. At least for that 79 Last that isn't very steep. You could always mail them tracings of your feet. Truman can be the same or might run a bit smaller. They have a sizing form and you can also send them tracings of your feet. If you have a wider foot, like me, you might just enjoy the stich-down style specifically. Other boots with the goodyear welt will have lifted ridges around the inside edge, so you're never really standing flat and/or your feet never get ALL the room they could have. With stich-down, you get a slightly 'wider' base all around because there's no extra strip of leather under there for the welt. As for the top of the boot hurting.. I've always had that same problem too. With all shoes, not just boots. We have thick hobbit feet, my friend. I would take out your inserts and if you have a sanding wheel, set it to low speed and take a couple mm from the bottom. If it's already a thin insert and you cant shave much down, you might have to just take them out and wear thicker socks to compensate but still relieve pressure from the top of your foot. I'm glad to hear these have been good for you! I assume I will also experience the pain at the top of the boot.. I have these boots arriving this week. Thank you for the review! I have worn Danner boots for a long time.. but only their Mil. Spec/AR670-1 Army reg. boots when I served. They were the lightest and most comfortable, in my opinion.

Se las recomiendo a cualquiera. Nunca he comprado Truman pero son botas de altísima calidad. Las Botas Nicks que yo tengo son el mismo size que mi Red Wings 11.5 pero E wide y son comodas pero no las uso mucho por que son bien pesadas. Yo uso mis Grant Stones casualmente y Red Wing 875 & Iron Ranger para trabajar. Se me cuida Aaron 🤝👏👍

The laces on Danner Bull Run bothered me until I replaced them with leather laces. I also replaced the insole. They're very comfortable now.

Las Nicks boots me parecen buenísimas, también las Jim Green. Mi experiencia con las cartthart es buena, hasta me compré otro par, me resultan muy cómodos, no pesan nada y mis pies descansan bien. I wear an 8D to 8.5D in red wing heritage and work and I briefly had a pair of nicks travelers in 8D on the HNW last and they fit identical to the heritage models. The slightly sprung toe most nicks lasts have will feel very different at first to you if you never wore anything like that.

Nicks boots are worth the wait time. Their boots a 100% leather, except for the sole. I wear the same size in a Nicks Moc Toe as my Red Wing Moc Toe. All Nicks boots tend to run snug in the toe box. You want to increase the width by one size. I recommend going through their fitting process. I used their fit sheet to trace my foot. I’ve got a perfect fit. You do not have to order a moc toe to get the Vibram wedge sole, either.

Frank's and JK are very close to the same boot as well. Unfortunately many believe White's (who also make similar boots although their high end is hand stitched) quality has slipped. Of course that's to be expected when the "Original Nick" was a shop manager for Otto White, Frank's family owned Nick's (and later he was a co-owner) and JK was a pattern maker at Nick's. I guess all roads lead to Otto White in the PNW in one way or another.

I found the same issue with the width on the Bull Run boots except for the Chelsea. I wish they had a leather mid sole and less synthetic materials.

Have you ever considered turning the cemented construction keen boots into welted boots when they wear out? It wouldn't be worth the money but it could be an interesting project. I've seen a few Japanese cobblers do it and it changes the look of them but makes them resole-able. One guy called Radian has done it a few times.

i shove a tumbler in my boot and leave it overnight to stretch it out. also run a thinner insole until your boot stretches out

I have a boot stretching machine, but is better to break them in with normal wearing, as long as we get the right size😅 It’s actually only the right boot, I’d say it’s my foot🦶 Cheers!

Everything is going up in price! I like an 8inch Moc toe. I have Thorogood 8inch Moc. It’s good. I love my Redwing 8in Moc toe. I’ve looked at the Danner 8in bull run Moc toe. May try it next. I just hate how the sizes differ. Redwing I can wear a 10 D or a 9.5 EE. Thorogood 10.5 D. lol. And I wear an 11 in tennis shoes. And my Rocky Bearclaw 3ds are size 11. Boot sizing is crazy! lol. When mine get ready for re soles I know who I will be e mailing!

I used to wear wolverines, the part you said hurts was fake leather and ripped right away. I have the Danners. They are comfortable and the leather is pretty thick. I got a pair of irish setters and realized theyre not made in the U.S. so im sticking with Thorogood.

The Red Wing USA built boots are designated by the "Heritage" moniker. Only an occasional limited edition Irish Setter branded boot is produced in the USA by them. Most "USA Boots" are just assembled imported parts these days unless it's Origin or a NWP maker.

Hay controversia en la talla que debes pedir en Truman, yo uso 7.5Us D en Redwing Iron Rangers, y mis 3 pares de Truman son 8US D, y de lo largo se sienten igual que las redwing, solo que son mas anchas, las truman solo las puedo usar con calcetines gruesos (que compre en target). Tengo la duda si las truman 7.5 me quedarian, pero no creo porque de lo largo las 8 se sienten bien.

It’s funny you would mention that part at the base of the tongue pushing on your foot. I tried on some of these in a store, and they did the same thing to my foot, haha. I’d be interested in knowing if that pain/pressure/pushing has gone away now. Great video!

Thanks for asking, actually they kept on bothering me, also the shank started squeaking 4 days later, I was forced to get them Resole, and also I had to change the inserts, probably this was a defective pair , now they are part of my Sunday church collection 😅😅 Cheers!

They’ll get darker anyway, cuse of the type of leather, it catches everything. I use Cadillac leather conditioner.

No es por eso me duelen con las plantillas originales también, pero de que se quita cuando aflojen se quita, solo es en ratos y el lado derecho nadamas. Yo soy muy delicado o muy corriente una de 2 😂😂 solo es con las botas de trabajo debido a que estoy parado 10 a 12 horas Saludos!
