Team Meander for sure. Uk 9 (though my AR8s are a 8.5 and pretty loose so maybe an 8) Love the boots, just waiting on a restock to get a pair of razorbacks and barefoot rangers. Break-in was rough though, maybe consider a heel liner in the AR8s? The seam cut my heels for weeks till it wore a bit and broke in. Now they have broken in though, wow they are so good.

I personally have a pair of Russells, the Zephyr. To be completely honest, yes, they are quite overpriced and expensive. However, to my knowledge (specifically speaking about the Zephyr) there is no other boot out there with a similar spec, look or feel, it is truly a unique experience no other boot will give you and they are an absolute work of art. With that said, I would advocate for yourself still giving Russells a chance if you are a true moc enthusiast, but only if you are looking at their "unique models" (think the Zephyr or the PH), since you wont find boots like them anywhere else. If your attention is set to the Backcountry or similars, definitely wait for the JG mocs, you will be getting essentially the same boot for probably 1/3 of the price.

The only reason I hadn't already ordered them was they had none in stock and I didn't feel like waiting for the production period. Seeing how they are made I don't think they are particularly overpriced.

@@TommyNitro I have 2 pairs of Russell's. Yes they are the most expensive boots I own in a pure stock config. The quality and comfort is there. Maybe not $750 worth, but they are my boot equivalent to Adidas Boost comfort level. I think the JG Meander is gonna put a hurt on ANY moc toe that is below the $500 price point. Especially if they allow customization once it comes out. Finally bought my first pair of JG's to get my size down in the STC'.

Very different products. And cost of manufacture is very different. Save up and buy one Russel Moccasin and one Jim Green. You'll definitely appreciate them both.

Team Meander!! Love the oringo in the African Ranger in a US 9, so a moc toe version of that is awesome to switch between the two being familiar outsoles and even padded collar. The leather lining is an excellent touch which I'm glad you added.

With the Meander I would definitely prefer a lug or tyre wedge sole over the oringo, I think the added traction is very necessary in slick grass and snow

I'm team Meander any day! The padded collar makes them look great for when you wrap the shoes laces all the way around the boot. I would change the shoes laces to camouflage colour for slightly more pop in colour. Am size UK7.

I’m so happy to see a South African company taking a true moc toe boot design and production seriously! I probably walk more miles per year in truly tough conditions than most people do in their whole lives, and thus I wear through boots at a rate of knots. With most of my clientele being American citizens, and me doing my homework too, the obvious suggestions for solutions have been the big names like Russell’s and Gokey’s too. I have a few moc boots at the moment that I rotate between. I personally just prefer the feel and wear of a moc toe boot for all of my work in the mountains and bush, and I’d be even happier to support a local (South African) brand as well as not have to worry about sizing issues when ordering online or on the phone with the big US names mentioned before. And let’s be real too, the cost for us South Africans when purchasing these US boots with added shipping costs is not petty cash for us either. Both boots look like they have merit and strong points to hold them in good stead - I like aspects of both variants. I seem to lean more towards the Meander, and I seem to prefer the tyre wedge sole on it. My vote would be Team Meander, and I am a UK size 9. Thank you Jim Green. Ps, my first ‘real’ hunting boots my father bought for me as a boy were Jim Greens - I think I was around 9 years of age. I still have the many photos out hunting with those boots as memories. uk 11, when the African Ranger first came to Germany, i got one and still love it for hiking through the forrest. Also got Razorbacks for my brother and father for Christmas. In Germany you cant get any Boots that can compare. Great Value!

I am team workhorse, Size 11.5 / 12 US. I have the African rangers that I use for work, I work in wastewater treatment. I have put these boots through hell and back and they have proven to well built and durable. I would love to try these moc toes to see how they hold up. Only complaint I have with my rangers is sore feet from standing on concrete and asphalt all day during the summer months. With the leather midsole and the lug wedge you have I think the workhorse would eliminate that. Thank you for Producing a quality boot that is truly cost effective for the quality!

You are correct, the white/beige sole is quite common in America. I love the white stitching with the beige sole that you all put together, very clean. In addition, the extra lining and leather midsole is really what sells me on these boots. It really checks all the possible boxes yet stays seemingly traditional in nature.

😂😂😂❤❤❤ Man, I love you guys!!! Your hard work IS paying off. I am a fan of you guys, so much! I bought a pair of custom Buffalo Hide Stockman Chelsea boots a couple of years ago, and they are still going strong, I wore them today actually! 😅 I forgot how comfortable they are. The break-in was a bear, but I did it and now they are perfect. I'm a disabled US Navy Veteran who has had a bunch of strokes, and I got the Diabetes from my last one, and my feet swell off and on during the day, so during the break-in period I was still able to use the boots for a few hours a day. Then I got the Numzaan boots in Walnut Veg-Tan much easier to get them broke in, I just loosened the laces way up!! Plus I ordered them a half size to big for the swelling that I knew was coming! 😢😅😅 So I have been waiting for the Moc-Toe from you guys ever since I found you on the KZbins!! 😂 the price and quality for your boots is amazing, and the customization you can do, is totally awesome too! My custom Stockman boots with all the leather you added... I got for 209.00 US or real close and that was with shippin!!! I know that those days are gone now, but compared to most US made boots, you're still way cheaper, but with as good or even better quality. Please consider me for the Moc-Toe giveaway!!!
