You both worked so hard and with such team work it's was really easy to watch. I was dreading watching cos everyone else was so disorganised (not judging, I'd be exactly the same) well done! TRULY

I always watch your videos but on my TV so I never get to comment, I've just been crying of laughter at Joe cutting his own hair 😂 when he grabs a chunk of his hair to cut and the scissors are so blunt the hair was bending! Honestly love your videos!! ❤

That was the smoothest DIY blacking job I’ve seen! And the coolest way to get the boat out of the water! At least it seemed to stay level at all times! Well done crew. Is it not a problem that there’s a section of the base plate that missed reblacking as it’s covered by the beams supporting the boat?

Bless you both for all your hard work getting Lady Pennybum blacked and adding new anodes. So great to have you both back together again. How cute was your site inspector 🐶 I can see that at some point you will have your own fur baby 🤗🤗

That was an epic job! Well done to you both. The boat is looking beautiful and it will be well protected for another 3 years. I need to do mine next year and I think I will go the DIY route. As Joe said, it's a right of passage.

In the "next time" file.... there are tools for removing tile/linoleum flooring that look like a large, solid scraper blade with a broom handle. Not suitable for the fine bits, but for the initial scrape of large areas while still wet I think they'd do a treat and you could cut the handle down to your preference. Great job, great work. That's a lot of electrons being sucked out of the hull, eh?

Part of me thinks, while still wet, instead of taking the bulk of the weed and crud with a scraper, you could have saved time and just used the pressure washer straight away? No matter, looks like all your hard work will be paid off. Lovely to see Dani

Yes. Here in Norway when we take our boats out of the water, it's high pressure wash immideatly, before it dries.

Hi Joe and Danni, you should get a brush for your angle grinder instead of your drill it is a lot safer and you can put some good pressure on it , keep up the good work. The boat is looking good. Cliff from Australia

New sub, i came across your channel because it came up in my recommendations after looking at narrow boats to buy, im thinking about getting one. I've binge watched alot of your videos, and its alot more work than i initially thought. Fair play to you both, you have both worked extremely hard.
@peterbell64254 ай бұрын
Good work guys, underside of the boat and lower hull look in very good condition. Blacking is a real pain to prepare for and to apply but at least your work area was first class never seen a narrowboat raised onto stands like this, a definite back saver. Would you do this yourself again when the time comes?.

Hi Joe, Danni You guys did sooo well considering it was your first attempt and how quickly you got it done. Many boat owners do say that they would never do the blacking by themselves, second time around, due to the amount of work involved. Joe if you guys were to buy another boat would you go for a larger one when considering the internal space? Did you install the magnesium anodes or some other type? Next time, if you were to have someone do the work, would you go for the 2 pack blacking even though it costs more? Regards, Mark Alberta, Canada

Now, when you removed all that weed and algae on the bottom, I guess you will reach 4,5 mph at the same rev that you before used for 4 mph? 😇☺
