Hi, a little hint about top-gates opening again and playing their own game: open the paddles on the bottom gates just a little to get a stream through the lock, guess you already know that though.

Heidi, The Narrowboat Pirate, does something with her barge pole (don't be rude. She uses her barge pole to lock the lock gates closed. It saves her from doing the Dannie shuffle.

Next time you come across a lock where the top gates won't stay closed, partly open one of the lower lock paddles which will allow the water to flow through the lock, which will push the top gates closed

@@ItsOhJoeCheck out 'Cruising Alba' with Miles and Marina who usually wild moor every year on the Thames. They have some lovely favourite spots which are free - but I'm not certain about flooding times??? PM them to check? 'narrowboatwill' is currently on the Thames and doesn't like paying for mooring unless he absolutely has too. Might be worth asking him as he's a very friendly and helpful solo permanent cruiser?

I wouldn't worry about the non tidal Thames (above Teddington), it just flows a bit :) I helped take a Historic 45' BCN tug from Brentford to Limehouse and back many years ago, and that was interesting. We had to sandbag the front doors as it's a bit choppy, especially under the bridges.

Hi Guys, Like so many others, I wish to express my appreciation for the time and effort that you put into producing your videos. Your efforts have given me much enjoyment and taught me many things about both your life as “canal gypsies” and England. It now saddens me to inform you that I will no longer be watching your videos. You deserve an explanation and here it is. Just recently You Tube informed me that I had to drop my Adblocker in order for me to watch the videos. I did that, and in doing so I got to watch as many as 4 ads during a video. I do not watch your videos for the ads but, as mentioned before, for the entertainment and education. Thank you again for sharing your adventures and if things change then I will be back. Have many years of safe boating and adventures. Mark Alberta, Canada

@ItsOhJoe Жыл бұрын
I’m just winding Danni up as she really doesn’t want me to get a chainsaw
@daveash9572 Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for replying. That makes sense to be fair. I have a small electric one and it scares the wotsit out of me 😂, while my lathes, bandsaw, milling machines, circular saws, table saw etc do not. For me the only reason I own it, is because it allows me to make certain cuts not possible with any other tool. Chainsaws do just seem more dangerous, so I can understand her concern. One of the reasons I find your videos compelling to watch is the obvious care between you both, and gentle p*ss taking. It's sweet. Thanks for clarifying. Matt Gray made a similar reference to a chainsaw license in a recent video and so your comment threw me.

At the moment with sun only a few months of the year a generator is still the better option than these powerbanks. I mean if you are ccing why bother having a generator to charge an ecoflow when you can just use the generator .They are not practical to carry to take them to places to charge for free it is to much of a struggle .There fine for a few days camping but I just dont see how they fit in with fulltime boat life
@ItsOhJoe Жыл бұрын
We basically use our alternator to charge it whilst crushing (once the house batteries are 100%), then when moored up you can drain it down first before the house batteries + we don’t have to listen to a petrol generator running outside with the risk of it being pinched
