Nah - one of the phone cases where you can dangle it around your neck. Or maybe one with a working magsafe - there's even a magsafe tripod with fairly strong magnets my missus got - which on a stick might make it easy to pick out again

Joe that was some impressive navigational work whilst towing and dodging all of those obstacles!! Your drone shots are also really coming along! They helped us get a good idea of what you were really dealing with. In your live you mentioned being embarrassed that some people are going back and watching your older videos. I’m one of those people - I recently found you, and I’m working my way through your boat conversion series atm. You have nothing to be embarrassed about. Whilst your style has improved, your earlier work is still better than a lot of people could do! And it contains you and Danni, which after all is why most people watch your channel!

Joe have you heard about Wet and Forget? You just spray it on your canopy or roof with a garden spray on a dry day and it gets rid of the green algae/mould. It's non toxic, so dare to use on canals and rivers. When it's dry the green disappears like magic! xx

Hi both, we find that if you open the padle on the SAME side as your boat, the water will hit the opposite side, then sweep towards your boat and keep it in the same place as it raises. We did 21 Hatton locks on the way to Stratford and it worked like a charm in the large double locks. Try it and see how calm it is! Good luck. Love your videos 👍

I'm sure someone will have said that when locking up in a wide lock,you should open the ground paddle on the same side as the boat. The water will bounce off the far side and keep the boat close to the side you started on

Danni just a tip from an old 81 year old fart on dieting the key word is moderation just eat what you like and small amounts and a moderate amount of exercise pay attention to your cardio and and the most important thing is enjoying your life together that is the key . One of the things I did this year was to take all the bits from after my fire cider was completed, dried them and ran it through an herb mill. It is the best herb mix that I add to food.

IV started solo narrowboating on the K&A and totally agree with your description of it though I would add the amount of ledges and shallow edges at so called mooring spots on the K&A are a pain in the backside that said I do find it very peaceful and I love mooring in Bradford on Avon

When you fill a lock open the paddle on the same side as your boat. The water then rushes across to the opposite side and holds your boat against the wall. I think you have it backwards.

It's better to have one boat behind the other and not side by side. It's faster, easier to control and uses less diesel.

Just out of interest do the CRT allow cleaning your boat on water points? I know here on the Thames with the Environmental Agency it’s a definite no no. Great channel btw.

Yeah it seems to be universally accepted on the canals, I’ve seen many people doing it even infront of volunteers. Funny you should say that about the Thames - actually saw a big GRP cruiser owner washing his boat with a pressure washer on a water point on our way down, right in front of the lock keepers. Whether they turned a blind eye or didn’t want an altercation I’m not sure! 😂

Hello guys , Berkamstead is a lovely town you will go through there and then after berko you have Northchurch,,there is a Tesco at Northchurch after that is dudswell my favourite winter mooring , then after that is cow roast , at cow roast by the lock is the waterpoint and elsan as well as refuse bins , so at cow roast you are really getting to be in rural country after cow roast is Tring , I think you will like Tring the reservoirs are pretty , berkhamstead has a great cinema and some lovely pubs the water point is opposite the moorings as you pass under the bridge and berko has a mooring for Waitrose and marks and Spencer a very old English town which has an old castle which is a nice walk and next to berko train station is one of the best fish and chip shops in Hertfordshire.
