Cinderella waited around for a rich guy to rescue her? Who played Elizabeth Swann, a Disney damsel in distress, likened to a Disney princess? Keira Knightley. Who made a pirate's fortune. Maybe Keira should give all of her money back for the 3 Pirate movies?

Snow White was a kind, naive young girl that accepted the apple from THE ONLY OTHER HUMAN BEING in the middle of the woods after an attemt of murder for god sake. Cinderela with her cleverness talents and kindness made it to the ball, dance with the Prince that she didn't knew who he was. Aurora was cursed maybe she is the only victimised Princess... The faries and Phillip rock though, Ariel wanted to go on land before meeting Eric he was A plus. Belle was selfless. Jasmine wanted to be independent and a good leader by facing the problems of her kingdom going out undercovered. Pocahontas became a bridge of peace, Tiana worked hard for her dreams, Mulan fought for the greater good, Merida wanted to gain freedom... Men , this women can understand this obvious morals in the movies?
@mnomadvfx
@mnomadvfx 5 жыл бұрын
Cinderella? Cleverness, talents? I'm not sure you were watching the same movie we were, pretty sure that her natural looks and a fairy godmother made outfit and carriage got her to the ball in the movie. As for Pocahontas - you really should just stop right there, if Disney ever did any true miscarriage in story telling it was making that horrible work. Great animation, sure - but the story they based it on is a fictionalised account penned by the real John Smith. Written after he abducted Pocahontas from her people to forcibly take her back to England - which she never actually saw due to dying on route, and lord knows what she suffered on the way from Smith, though it doesn't take a genius to guess. Disney making that film was all but endorsing the fantastical and grandiose fictional account of the abductor and likely rapist of the real Pocahontas - it's as clear a watermark of any just how morally bankrupt Disney can be as a company.

In Snow White it isn't her beauty that is her power. The point is that the Queen is fixated on her looks... but her true power is her good heart that is as "Clean as the Driven Snow" (hence why she is the Fairest). Which kind of means she and Belle have something in common as they are both people who had people unfairly fixate on their looks.
@khfan4life365
@khfan4life365 5 жыл бұрын
They made that clear in Kingdom Hearts. The Queen was obsessed with looks, but she really was interested in the purity that Snow had in her heart. Why else would she tell the huntsman to bring back Snow’s heart? The Queen saw it as a symbol of Snow’s purity and goodness and she wanted it slain.

As far as Disney gals goes, my favourites are Mulan and Belle, so yeah, I don't particulary like Cinderella or Ariel. But yeah, Keira doesn't know what she's talking about. Keira, the parent thing to do is sit down with your kid and watch it together, then talk about it, if you feel you need to impart a lesson. How is it fair to judge old stuff like Snow White or Cinderella with modern parameters, anyway? It's like how people want to ban old books because they contain things that are now considered "problematic." Absolutely no sense of nuance or historical significance. Also, thanks for mentioning the original plot for Snow Queen. I was so dissapointed by the changes in Frozen.

Truth be told I really dislike the little mermaid, but that is for the fact that Ariel is a brat who gets everything she wanted in the end without consequences. However, I will argue against the whole 'she gave up everything for some guy'. She was always interested in the surface world, she always wanted to go there. Eric was just another part of that. When her father destroyed all of her treasures, when she was arguably at her lowest, that is when Ursula gave her the ultimatum............ one that she initially refused, until one of the eels knocked the statue's face to her. That was the straw that broke the camel's back............. it wasn't that she gave up everything to be with a man- Well, that's not entirely true. If Eric wasn't there she probably wouldn't have been as willing to go to the surface. It's like if you're going to a different country (or something), you would probably be more comfortable if you had a friend, or even if your friend knew someone there who would meet up with you. Just having someone you could recognize as a friend would make it easier to go wherever............... it's the same with Ariel. She wanted to go, and would have eventually worked up the courage to go herself, but with Eric there it just sped things up. Ursula would have tempted Ariel regardless of if the prince was there or not, she just realized how much easier it would be to tempt her with those feelings she had for a human. Also this was really only possible because she was heartbroken by her dad's actions. That went on longer than I thought, and it might be more word vomit than anything, but I just wanted to throw in a small opinion of mine.

"Truth be told I really dislike the little mermaid, but that is for the fact that Ariel is a brat who gets everything she wanted in the end without consequences." Same! But yeah she certainly wasn't giving everything up for a guy lol. Don't know what movie they watched lol. She gave up her voice because she technically wanted to be a human cause she was obsessed with the human world. People make sacrifices all the time for their hobbies or obsessions in the real world, this is just an animated interpretation of this pretty much.

Exactly!! I don't like Ariel for the reasons you mentioned too, but to say she sacrificed her voice just for a man is absolutely ridiculous. And Kiera Knightly never got hired to do another job with Disney, Abc, Fox, Hulu, Netflix, Miramax, or Marvel movie ever again for virtue signaling against her former employer. An executive is thinking about how she did three Pirates of the Caribbean movies for Disney and how that made her a mainstream Hollywood star. Now she targets the most lucrative meal ticket the company has. Great thinking Ms. Knightly enjoy only working for Warner Bros, Sony and Comcast.

If they dislike the Disney movies they should read the original stories, they would really hate those. In one of the versions of sleeping beauty the prince does the deed with her while she's under the sleeping spell and gets her pregent. She wakes up after giving birth and one of the babies sucks on the finger she pricked on the spindle mistaking it for something else. In one of the versions of Cinderella her step sisters cut off their heels or toes to fit into the shoe but each time someone notices the blood. In little mermaid the prince married someone else after thinking they rescued him and her sisters make a deal with the witch that if she kills the prince she could keep her legs. She doesn't have the heart to do it so instead she turns into sea foam.

Its definitely sad to look at those stories that way. As something so negative that a parent doesn't want to show their child. I mean, I used to watch old Disney movies with my nephews and niece all the time and yeah while they do have faults, we do still get a good laugh at what can be perceived as a negative message. And you know, I like this when it gives one the opportunity to address different view points on that(little mermaid is an example where to some, they see it as bad that Ariel gave up a lot to be with her prince but at the same time, relationships do require a sense of sacrifice to the other)

I feel sorry for Disney Princes. Most of them are bland, effectively talking wallets. Outside of being useful to get the woman out of trouble. I gotta add on to this: Cannot Kiss Someone While They Are Sleeping. So, essentially, any woman who kisses her sleeping husband and/or children awake has just committed a sexual assault. It's not sweet, it's not romantic, IT'S ASSAULT! Oh and Ariel? You forgot one tiny thing: Her goal in the movie was to see the surface world. That she met a handsome man in the process is incidental. And you know what make him a real man? He was willing to accept her without her voice. Ursula used Ariel's vocals to mesmerize him under a spell, because she KNEW that he would have chosen Ariel over her. Also, Didn't Ariel SAVE HIM first?

I feel like so many people form false beliefs about movies that they themselves haven’t actually seen as an adult. So many people imagine cinderella and snow white to be these passive characters that just sit around and wait for their life unfold around them. However these are showing the power of traits that people would normally underestimate. Cinderella was able to go to ball because she still had hope left for a better life( thats why the fairy godmother showed up) and she was willing to defy the rules of her step family. In the end when is locked in the attic she isn’t saved by the animals for no reason they save her because she was consistently kind and caring to them so they felt the need to help her in return of her kindness.

Also, Ariel was literally manipulated by Ursula to give up her voice just to get legs. And Ariel accepted not just out of her love for Eric, but also because her racist father literally provoked her anger by DESTROYING all of her prized possessions. Keira Knightley and Kristen Bell are LITERALLY karens who don't do their research 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 And Snow White.... Kristen, if you checked the scene VERY well: It was the WITCH WHO HANDED THE APPLE TO HER. Cinderella is one of the best princesses because she was abused her whole life. Cinderella even if it's not obvious, saying that she's too girly and didnt stand up for herself and she needs to grow up , and "why doesnt she just leave the house?" first of all "shes too girly" that's sexist. Second, stand up for herself, she did. Third grow up, ok so this is stupid dreaming and singing kept her from not going insane and possibly going through depression . Lastly, "why didnt she just leave the house shes a grown adult?!!" WERE THE HELL WAS SHE SUPPOSED TO GO TO SHE WAS GOING TO BE HOMELESS!! FYI she didnt ask for a mans in her life she asked for a day out and a dress.

About her leaving the house. You see at the start of the movie that she was conditioned and abused from the age of 5-8. It makes the victim co-dependent on their abuser from that age. So saying she should just leave cuz she’s a grown adult actually blames the victim for her own problems.

A princess is a woman in a position of power, not just someone to be pretty. You can clearly see that in Aladdin when Aladdin was being apprehended by guards and Jasmine attempted to use her authority to free him. She was essentially trying to save him. Just because you don't see these princesses use their power 24/7 does not mean they are not powerful. You know the old saying "don't mistake kindness for weakness"?

The last "Disney princess" movie that was good was "Tangled" (I do not count "Brave" as it is a Pixar movie and not a Walt Disney Animation Studios movie). Disney's obsession with "strong independent young women" is both quite boring and contradictory (mostly they just turn them to ungrateful and whining douchebags). The same with their terrible remakes that they insist on doing (apparently it was not enough to make the movies once for the greedy bastards). In their remakes they destroy everything that was good with the old movies and those who had great classic evil female villains are in the new "just misunderstood" so you can blame it on the "patriarchy" (why can a female villain not be allowed to be a female villain, it's just stupid). In addition, their remakes are usually just a useless pile of shit when it comes to music as they are obsessed with having famous names (like Emma Watson) who obviously can not sing so they have to drown the crap in a lot of fucking autotune so that it sounds horrible.

Snow White: A girl who was able to make the best of her situation by being kind and worked hard to be able to live with the dwarfs. Aurora: A girl who had the miss fortunate of being cursed as a baby. When she was told to marry someone she had never met right after learning she was some princess AND does what the fairies say because she trusts the fairies and feels a responsibility to her kingdom so she shuts up about her problems for the greater good of her kingdom. Cinderella: Because she was kind and always believed things would get better or whatever and because of this the fairy Godmother and the mice were able to help her and she ended up with the prince. yay. Ariel: A girl in her moment of emotional weakness was used against her to implement that true love would save her and give her what she wants for the benefit of the manipulator Belle: Chose to hold onto her beliefs and had enough self-respect to say no to a guy that, although looked good treated her bad. She also helped the Beast as repayment of gratitude for saving her life and in return saw a side of the Beast and fell in love with him. Jasmine: Someone who will not take sh*t from anyone, she is independent and although she is sheltered and does not understand the problem of her people still does her best to understand and help her people Pocahantas: Sorry haven't seen the movie in a while, but she is very peaceful, when she saw a war she did everything she could to stop it. She is in touch with nature and is curious about the white men. She doesn't force her beliefs but instead tries to share them and learn about other people's beliefs Tiana: Worked hard to archive her dream. When she realized that she had fallen in love with Naveen, she asks that they end up together because he made her happy in a way she hadn't been felt for a while. Mulan: ok no one cares about the fact that she saved China, THE REAL HEROIC thing was that she went to war to save her father's life. She hadn't planned to save china only her father's life, even tho the punishment was at the cost of her life Did I miss anyone?

Ariel is one of my favorite characters because I thought she was not some dumb damsel in distress who needs others to save her. But, how I got back into her and the criticism she's been having is the problem. I got back into her after seeing her kick butt fighting heartless as a party member in Kingdom Hearts and many people tend to bully Ariel for being a weak and helpless damsel in distress who does nothing but wines and wants a man to solve her problems. It's been hurting me because I feel like I'm loving her the wrong reasons.

@@danielgilmore14 What about her being a weak and passive damsel in distress (Even though she fought a shark and saved Flounder along the way and saved Eric twice in the movie. Yet, people still continue to look at her as weak and helpless like it's not enough).

Thank you for this video, I am happy I am not the only one who thinks about how people are changing Disney Princesses now (let alone the girl in EVERY animation franchise). I look to the past princess as relatable to me, feminine, kind, generous, pure, and full of hope and love. Sure, these new princesses are "okay" (Elsa I can relate too), but all this talk about taking charge up front, wanting to fight physically and be even more close to girls than boys, gets me worried they might lose sight of how girls are seen. Sure, we can be in charge too but is it wrong to be kind to the world or even dream of having a boyfriend. And with these new "theme songs" of Disney Princesses, I think they forgot the original first best song for Disney Princess "If you can Dream." Thank you again and let's never forget how girls can show they are best with showing how caring and loving we are.

Welp. Looks like Anna's voice actress didn't even need to do much acting in the studio. She is an airhead too. Maybe that's why they've picked her for the role in the first place.

That's for sure. KB's character of Anna made a lot of bone headed decisions. For instance, Anna abandons her kingdom with no food, supplies, water, a plan and proper attire. Then leaves Hans ( a guy she just met) in charge and not bothering to use her bodyguards or servants to know Elsa's location.

Great point, Elsa comes back, shows her abilities and then everyone loves her. Instead of facing her problems and trying to fix them which would of made for interesting stories for a tv special or F2

Also snow white is one of my favourite Disney princesses. She's got a crazy bitch out to kill her and she's lost everything she loves but she still makes the best out of her situation and helps everyone around her instead of sitting and whining about how horrible she has it. All these new Disney princesses who whine about their privileged backgrounds and run away from their responsibilities are no different than Ariel and Jasmine. The old princesses had no choice. They were pushed out of their privileged situation and had to built themselves up from the bottom. Pretty interesting how these movies came out during depression and war times while these newer ones came out during times where people are living pretty co.fortable lives and have never seen the shadow of war and poverty. Interesting how the better you have it the more you whine about what a oppressed victim you are. Lol

Stupid people take whichever bit from a movie they need to fit their narrative, in a positive or negative light. Just like they quote "Thelma & Louise", the whole scene about men never believing women, how they always take the rapist side, despite the fact that that's act 1 and by the end of the movie...... YA KNOW!

The little mermaid is not about selling your voice for a man tho. The original story is about teaching kids to deal with unrequited love in a non-toxic manner. Little Mermaid the novel has the little mermaid sacrificed her all for the prince only to realise the Prince will never love her back because love can't be forced even if you saved him and sacrificed a whole lot for him. The movie tries to give it a good ending. But it's just dumb to summarise everything to the little mermaid is selling her voice for a man.

Anna in the moive tries to get into two guys pants to and the good one had to correct her thinking since her parents didnt. The evil guy was had a hoard family who he felt left out who wanted to be something but lost his ways to being a little evil because he was abused by his parents being freaken rabbits sex crazed looms for having that many kids. While Elsa having crappy parents made her nuts in the head because she felt unwanted vecause she was cursed. Like what a great moive! Good job disney!

I disagree on Frozen being anti-romance. It was more anti-"become engaged to someone you don't even know because they could be a complete monster underneath their kind facade." Y'know, stranger danger. Plus, are you forgetting Kristoff? Not only did Ana fall in love with a man, but it was a far more rugged working class dude.
@dionysos46
@dionysos46 6 жыл бұрын
In the movie context where the sisters are self claustrated since 13 years, showing that the first guy which you try to be engaged is a murderous manipulative psychopath shows how the filmmakers are totally paranoid. Kristoff is a nice guy, indeed, but God's Hand (Lee-Buck-Lasseter, whatever) decides everytime he can't save Anna or even Elsa, because "it's a sister movie". And the sister's love plot development can't goes the distance with a claimed minor Tinkerbell Movie...
