I loved Ainge. My 12-year-old self was heartbroken when he was traded in 1989. He was a loose cannon and he took bad shots but he had a nose for the ball, played his heart out and had a knack for often coming up with loose balls. He wasn't the greatest one on one defender but he played great team defense. I loved his hustle. Never understood why he was so hated. He was one of the more likeable guys in the league.

Most likeable??? That's funny

Because he played dirty. I remember in Portland later on, he delivered one of the biggest backhands on purpose I've ever seen, to another player's face. While pretending it was part of trying to get the ball.

Danny Ainge was money. And he was a perfect fit in that '80's Celtic's team.

Girls in my High School were in tears the morning after Ainge got traded. Kleine was a minute filler. Pinckney was efficient but only dunked and rebounded. This had more to do them wanting to give minutes to Brian Shaw who Jimmy Rodgers for some reason was starting over Ainge which was an insult. Shaw had a good career as a role player but he was no Danny Ainge. They also wanted to give rest to Parish and McHale but it wasn't a good move because Bird was hurt that season so they weren't going to win anything that year anyway. Ainge was part of the sole of that team on top of it being a bad trade talent wise. They'd have been better off trading Shaw for those guys even though he was younger and cheaper but he had some value.

In LA, I had the hook up to get into the Forum. 15yo and GOP to the little old man by the side door. Let me in when I mention the manager of the roast beef sandwich shoppe and in i went. Cool.

Ainge should not have been traded. No brainer. Something was going on we don't know about.

Danny was the most successful 2 pro sport athlete in History, and nobody even acknowledges it. The guy was Amazing. He wasn't even playing basketball when the Celtics brought him in. And he started on the best team in History to that point. The Guy is a pure legend, and people ignore him because he's White.

@@onestopfunstop317 Jackson played 8 years in ML and 4 seasons in the NFL. unlike Ainges Bo was a ML all star in 1989 and was selected as an all pro running back with the Raiders in 1990. I don’t recall Ainge achieving anything similar in both baseball and basketball.

At a preseason game in LA vs Celtics. Ainge steps up to Maurice Lucas and shoves him. I could read this lips, "Do it again!" Ainge pushes him again and before his arms got back to his body, he got knocked tfo!
