What a beautiful song.I lost my family.This song calms the hurt.I ve seen hurt as a combat medic in the Southafrican defence force in 86 and 87.I lost my dad three weeks ago.He was a submariner from 1950 till 1959 in the british navy.he fort in malay.When we had the wake.We stood up and said.Officer on deck.We saluted Him.A gentleman and a officer.

I bought this soundtrack as soon as I could find it after the movie came out (on CD, in 1994!). I've misplaced it and was so glad to find a few bits of it here. I was reminded of it watching Wednesday on Netflix!

He hung for his neighbor farmers so they wouldn't be financially ruined by the contracts he drew them into under the name of Sommersby. If his true identity were to be revealed, the contracts would be invalidated. It had nothing to do with his love for Laurel, except that I'm sure he would rather have stayed with her.

The famous actors in this movie were in their youthful prime and had palpable chemistry together. That, combined with this beautiful, emotional music, made the gut wrenching ending of this implausible story feel so real. Well done, all around.
