They are essentially volunteer. They live in camps which is also where they receive their training. The program helps them to reduce /shave time off of their sentences and gain real world job experience. I highly doubt that they would jeopardize this opportunity. Also, this program produces more than enough people to assist should any of them choose not to perform their duties.

But that 46 billion gets spent mostly because of recidivism (inmates reoffending because they are poor, not because they’re inherently violent) But if you were willing to take just 1 billion of that and convert it into a system of pay for inmates, who do work, you can even restrict it to critical work like firefighting, and you would have plenty to pay inmates who will have more change in their pocket when they get out and thus be less likely to steal or turn to drugs when the got out. The only problem with that is that you are so consumed with spending taxpayer money on punishment, you can’t see that we could spend a fraction of that on rehabilitation programs and have less inmates to deal with. 🤷‍♂️

It's the other way around. It's ppl in prison learning a job, which is fire fighting.

A lot of those people who lost their stuff are filthy rich to shut it! They got plenty of money & we’re living lavish lifestyles so it’s almost impossible to feel sorry for them!

Kim like most people can care about multiple things at one time. She can advocate for inmate firefighters and the victims of the fires. And she doesn’t have to think the same as this guy. Keep talking Kim!
