What is known by "Midwest Emo" is nothing but Alternative Rock with questionable real emo influence. When people try to argue that bands like My Chemical Romance are not real emo, while saying that Sunny Day Real Estate is, I can't help not to cringe because they are just as fake emo as My Chemical Romance (plus the pretentiousness). Real emo sounds ENERGETIC, POWERFUL and somewhat HATEFUL. Fake emo is weak, self pity and a failed attempt to direct energy and emotion into music. Some examples of REAL EMO are Pg 99, Rites of Spring, Cap n Jazz (the only real emo band from the midwest scene) and Loma Prieta. Some examples of FAKE EMO are American Football, My Chemical Romance and Mineral EMO BELONGS TO HARDCORE NOT TO INDIE, POP PUNK, ALT ROCK OR ANY OTHER MAINSTREAM GENRE

It's not true ! Almost every band tries to play radio firendly, pop music. But years after years, money after money....they will find out that they would be nowhere without their real, old fans and they want to favor them again. That's just one reason. They shouldn't be the band they were about 2009-10, they need to be between From Death to Destiny and Like House On Fire. That wouldn’t even ruin his vocal cords.

Even with if they don't make a heavy one ever again, this stuff is good enough to satisfy fans who are loyal to them regardless of sound, and bring in new ones. That being said, I wouldn't completely count out the possibility of a heavy album in the future. Look at BMTH. They went full pop, and 2020 saw the release of their heaviest album since Sempiternal. We'll just have to see how things play out.

Danny wanted to be a 80's rockstar after Reckless & Relentless. People forget that Ben wrote most AA's first 4 albums, not Danny. Danny's biggest influences are 80's rock bands, so when he came back, they changed their sound.
