One of the most interesting and original voices in British media over the last 40 years. Wonderful.

A gem. I used to listen to Danny (and Jeremy Beadle) when none of my friends did. I guessed they were just there for me. Clever, fun, real people that talked naturally. The antidote to the Pat Sharp era.

Just finished Danny's third biog, Going on the Turn, it had me laughing and crying in equal measures, from his hilarious anecdotes like the 2000 Euro fiasco to the heartbreaking story of coping with a devastating cancer diagnosis and harrowing treatment. Danny you are and always will be my favourite writer and broadcaster, please bring the tree house back, the air waves are poorer without it. 2 hours on 5live is not enough. Stay well Danny, you are a true national treasure

I read all the books and then when I finished the last one I went back to volume 1 and experienced them via audio book being read by Danny. So, so funny.

Went to see Danny on stage last week, absolutely brilliant, Christ the man can talk. Had to catch my train home so unfortunately had to leave after two hours: DURING THE INTERVAL :)

working class hero - a rare breed these days. His upbringing was so similar to mine. What he said about his old man and uncles having a tremendous strain of confidence was spot on. My dad and uncle's were all duckers and divers, chancers and borderline petty criminals who got suited and booted every weekend and lived life to the full. They all worked but were all at it when they got the chance. Like Danny I could write a book about their exploits but they all looked after their families and gave us a confidence when we grew up that a lot of kids now seem to lack.

I don't know how to explain my love for Danny. When I lived abroad and used to think about home Danny was as much an image in my mind as the Tower of London was. When he got sick I really felt it and cried when I learned he was fine. This sounds like I'm in love with him, but living with him must be a nightmare. Does Wendy ever win an argument? I love him in a different way. So glad you're well Dan and one of my new hobbies is watching you slowing get drunk in Twitter some nights - actually, too many nights. Take care old friend. X

Well said Lucy....Danny's TV and radio shows was always part of hour house.A real natural.Just read the second book and I don't laugh at books,but had to spit me tea on several occasions. I wonder if he knows how much he's loved?

popeyenick Nice to hear from you. I am waiting for the audio version of Pt 2 to be done because I know how great it will be but even better for him to read it to me. I don't know if you know, but he does a Saturday morning show on BBC 5 and has a live webcam. Its so interesting to see a radio show being done and the different wig-hats he wears. Take care.

Big fan of Danny Baker . JMW Turner , the great London painter , was lauded for his genius paintings , but the minute he opened his mouth , his rough Cockney accent gave his class away and was looked down upon by other middle and upper class , albeit less talented painters than him , because of it .
@kernowarty7 жыл бұрын
You cant compare Baker with the genius of Turner!!
@ThefightingCelt7 жыл бұрын
I'm not comparing the genius that was Turner to Danny Baker . SIMPLY making the connection that both had / have very distinguishable working class London accents.

It's Freddie Mercury I can't stand. Brian May too. Not that keen on Taylor. John Deacon - hmm, he's not all that, really. Apart from these few gripes, they were excellent. Danny Baker seems like a great guy
