There are countless analogies to go with this. For metal to be purified it has to go through fire, for a diamond to me made it has to go through intense pressure, for a baseball glove to be usable it has to be beat and broken in. Basically, just what your father said. For something good, let alone great, to be made, it's going to be hard. I'm so glad you pushed through the trials of filmmaking.
