Hello, I hope you read this although I think my comment could get a little big. Even if it is big just read this first sentence. So Your Reaction was great I loved it. I'll write all the Band members and what they do and some extra stuff I hope it'll help you a little. (I finished this comment now and of course it got big but if you Really want to get knowledge about Queen then read this 😅) Freddie Mercury: Lead Singer, Plays Piano, Greatest Front man on earth. (he is not the Leader of the Band, they don't like to have a Leader and Freddie himself also said that.) Brian May: Lead Guitarist, Background Singer (he also sings sometimes Lead) he is also an astrophysicist. Brian Build his Guitar with his Dad when he was 16, his Guitar is pretty Special and sounds very different to normal E Guitars. His Guitar is called The Red Special and he still uses that one till today. The Guitar is build out of some random stuff he found at home with his dad. So to that, there was a over 100 year old firewood he said. So His Guitar isn't actually 57 years old, it's even over 100 years old. So The Red Special gives Queen that Special ''Queen Sound''. Roger Taylor: Great Drummer, Background Singer (also sings sometimes Lead) He is the High Singer of the Group, He is a High Tenor and he often did some great Falsettos. (I think the note he actually very often hit was the Note A5). People say he isn't a Good Drummer but I really think they didn't see everything of him. Well yeah so he sings and drums at the same time in the Background. He really is a Great background singer for Freddie because when Freddie needs to catch a breath or forgets the lyrics or something Roger really helps Freddie and of course the same thing just the other way around. (when Roger for example needs to catch breath) Roger said catching the next breath while singing and drumming is the hardest thing for him. So I really respect him, but not just him THE WHOLE BAND IS TOO AWESOME. John Deacon: Bassist, he is the quite guy in Queen, He is an Engineer and he Build Special amps for Brian. He is the only one that doesn't sing but he sung very very Occasionally. All Band members have written more than 1 Number One Hits. All of them can also play Many More instruments but they mostly play it like I have written 👆 They are 4 equal band members in their own right. My experience with Queen... Idk how to explain, but they are such an Legendary Band because they don't stick to One Genre, they already were _everywhere_ but still they are a British Rock Band. They have inspired MANY People, such as the drummer from the Foo Fighters Taylor Hawkins, He also has the name Taylor in it because Roger Taylor (the drummer from Queen 👆) was one of his Role models, Queen also heavily inspired Michael Jackson, for example his performances, his songs, and even his Glove. What also makes them Special is how they create songs and how they Harmonize with their Voices and instruments. Freddie was a really special one, He loved Opera and made an whole album with one of his favorite Opera singers. Freddie can actually sing just as high as Roger but I'll tell it to you like this, since the beginning of Queen Roger always was the One making the high notes and Freddie was just ''figuring out his Voice'' until it became the absolute best. In 1982 Roger lost his Falsettos and it of course was already 9 years since Queens start and Freddie's voice really improved. With that being said after 1982 Freddie was actually the high singer. But no matter if he was the high singer, Roger still sang a bit higher when they still harmonized their voices, Roger is as I said a High Tenor and Freddie is a High Baritone with makes his Voice deeper as rogers. Probably a big reason I love Queen so much is because they are like 4 Solo artists in One band which makes them just the number 1 of bands that could ever existed (of course there are more great bands but I think you get what I'm trying to say) But really I think one of the main things is that Freddie really did sing his butt of till months before his dead. He really loved his Fans and he loved music. He did everything till he couldn't anymore. Here in the Show Must Go On (which is my Favorite Queen Song) you can really hear what a Great singer he is. He couldn't even stand up anymore and he was still singing 1000% better than today's healthy people. Freddie was just one of the Greatest singers. Brian May wrote The Show Must Go On and he wrote it in the situation with Freddie so this was actually about Freddie. Have you ever heard a dying mean making such an Angel High Note ( at 6:33 he hit an D5) and the last thing before I write my last thing is I want to talk about their Voices, Freddie's is really smooth and _GodLike._ Brian's sounds a bit like Freddie's but not that much, he has a nice Voice too but idk how to really explain. Roger has a Rock Raspy Voice but his Falsetto's sound Angelic. So the Last thing I want to say is that if you heard We Will Rock You and think that is something special from Queen... it is not. Imo it is not even catchy. It repeats itself and has a short guitar solo. They could have done so much better than that, But they actually have 😂 They have a Fast Version of the song. AND THAT Really fixes everything for me so please react to _1. We Will Rock You (fast version) - Queen Live in Montreal 1981 [1080p HD Blu-Ray Mux]._ Just a reminder please give it up for the Whole band and not just Freddie. You already did it right but I just wanted to remind 😅 They have tooooo many great songs. Just One thing from them doesn't help to understand them. You will get A LOT of request to many stuff from them. I think for the start I said everything that had to be said. Sorry again for this big text.

the QUEEN catalogue is huge. you´ll arguably find their core/best studiowork inbetween 1975 and 1978 and their greatest live-performances in the 80ies. start with: 1) Somebody to love (live montreal 1981) 2) Queen Live at Live Aid 1985 (full 20 minutes). if you want it rougher, look for "gimme the prize", "sheer heart attack" and "tie your mother down"

Isn't it a shame? Freddie was like good wine, he got better with age. He quit smoking and touring due to AIDS, which helped rest and smooth out his brilliant voice. The results are his best vocals on his last complete album. A dying man with better vocals than most other vocalists in their prime. Freddie was truly special.

There is reason Brian May's guitar has a unique sound. It is a unique guitar, it is called The Red Special and he and his dad built it when he was a teenager. It is made out of odds and ends, including an old mantelpiece, a tabletop, mother of pearl buttons, a knitting needle and all done with hand tools! Also he uses a unique amp, built by their bass player John Deacon out of scrap he found in a skip, called the Deacy Amp.
@mori1bund4 жыл бұрын
One other great guitar player who's friends with Brian May (I think it was Eddie Van Halen, but I'm not sure) said once, he switched guitars with Brian, but when they played Brian still sounded like typical Brian (even with the different guitar) and he still sounded like himself and not like the typical Queen guitar sound. So there's probably more to it than the Red Special and the Deacy Amps alone. :-)

This was written by Dr. Brian May the guitar player. This was his goodbye to Freddie who was near death at this point from Aids. The band decided they were going to keep making music until Freddie was dead so this is Brian saying goodbye by fulfilling that wish "the show must go on" A lot of people think this is Freddie's goodbye song, it's not, that song is "Was it all worth it?" on The Miracle album.

That is Brian May on guitar. One of the best guitar player in the world. Freddie will go down as one of the best frontmen that ever lived. And he is always in the top 5 as the best singer. Try Mother Love it was the last song he ever recorded. Actually he never finished it. He was so sick he told the band he would come back and finish it. He never did. Brian sang the last verse. But if that song doesn’t send chills up your spine, I don’t know what will. You really need to keep digging into Queen. You will not be disappointed. One of the best bands ever, ever! And Freddie was such a perfectionist. Nothing got recorded unless it lived up to his expectations.

Yes Freddie was very ill when he sang this, so much so they had him propped up on the mixer in the studio. Brian wrote it, but Freddie being so sick was afraid the high notes would be to strenuous on him and offered to re write at lower notes for him, Freddie downed a vodka and replied "I'll fucking do it darling" and is said was done in one take. If you are just starting the Queen journey, keep in mind they were ALWAYS better live than what was produced from the studio, so if there is a song you "think" you dont like, revisit a live version before deciding. I was not a big fan of radio gaga until I watched the live version and is now one of my favorites...lol. Yes they were better than any editing machine. It actually took away from their talent instead of helping it like it does for other artists. But then again Freddie has been called the human auto tune!

About this song, Brian May said: "It was unspoken at the time. We did not sit around talking about Freddies illness. Nobody wanted to. But it was very much out there. Casting a shadow over the studio. ... We were messing around with some chord sequences, and the song just lept into my head. So vividly that I sort of questioned whether I'd heard it somewhere else. @@DannymikReacts Since you say you're a metalhead, and since some say that Queen didn't know how to rock hard, you might well enjoy "Sheer Heart Attack", "Stone Cold Crazy", and "Hitman". I recommend all of them. Queen made an enormous song catalogue, they could and did do anything and everything. "The Show Must Go On" is from their last album made while Freddie was still living - Innuendo - a masterpiece of an album. You're starting at the end. Innuendo was the next-to-last album. Their final album was "Made in Heaven". Freddie died in 1991. Deacon, May and Taylor, still grieving, reconvened in the studio in 1994 to work with vocals Freddie had laid down prior to his death, the resultant Made in Heaven album becoming probably the best-crafted bow-out by a band ever. (Best to leave that album for after you've gotten to know the band and their life trajectories.)

When watching live performances be sure to watch for drummer Roger Taylor singing - phenomenal! Thank you for that really good reaction! I loved that you didn’t try to analyse the lyrics too much and that you commented on the quality of Freddie’s voice and the music it’s self. Brian May is the only guitarist in Queen. He made his guitar when he was young along with his father, out of wood from an old fireplace and that’s why he had such a distinct guitar sound. He writes most of the “rockier” songs, two of which are “It’s Late” and “Gimme the Prize”. I’d love it if you could react to them. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Freddie recorded this months before passing away. He was in a lot of pain and could barely walk or stand for long periods, as he had lost part of his foot by that time. He was very thin, weak, and frail, but all he wanted to do was to keep singing and making music. He asked the band to keep giving him things to sing, even if there was no time to record instrumentals first, because he knew they would finish producing the songs later (and they did - that's their 1995 album "Made in Heaven"). This song was from the last album Freddie did get to see released ("Innuendo", in 1991). There were many rumors about his health, but no, it wasn't confirmed until the day before his death in November of 1991. The vocals on this song are incredibly difficult, and the guitarist Brian (who did write this with Freddie in mind) was worried he wouldn't be able to sing it, sick as he was. Freddie propped himself up on the recording table (he could no longer stand and sing), took a shot of vodka, and said "I'll f**king do it, darling." You'd never know he was dying from the sound of his voice here. Definitely a song we can all listen to and be inspired by now. I wish all the best to you, your wife, and your family!

He still uses it, and it has a very recognizable sound. There are too many songs to suggest any, just know some of the best gems are hidden in albums and didn't get played on the radio. Maybe listen to the entire Jazz album one day. Awe, listen to it all. 👑

I Love This Song!!!! The story I've heard was Freddie knew he was dieing... and just wanted to make music.. Brian May (guitarist) Wrote the song.. Presented to Freddie and asked if he could do the song.. He knew what the song was about.. Said Darling I can fucking sing anything.. Leaned against a table, drank a vodka on the rocks and sang the song in ONE TAKE!!! On a personal note his fans didn't know he had AIDS... I was excited about the song when it was released because I thought Queen would do another tour to support the song!!! A couple of months later he announced he had AIDS, and died the next day.. As a Queen fan since I was ten, I was totally heartbroken... I have seen Queen and there current line up and when Paul Rodgers sang with the band.. I saw Queen and it's original line up in Phx Az on September 10, 1981 and is by far the best concert I have ever had seen!!!!! This is the first reaction video I have seen of yours... Keep up the good work!!! May the Creator watch over you and your family... Especially your wife... I have a cousin who is a CNA in PHX.. she is under self quarantine right now because of and exposure incident in the rehab facility she works at.. Take Care and Good Luck..

As a diehard Queen fan, you earned a sub from me, Freddie is perhaps the greatest frontman to ever live and thanks to the music that he, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon his music and vocal superiority will live on, Brian May and John Deacon were the guitarists, Freddie, Brian and Roger wrote most of their music.

This song is one of the few sings that has helped me through my depression and still does. Its an emotional song on so many levels for me on a personal level. Also Brian May was the one who wrote this. You should watch and react to the music video as well. Edit : he still killed their performance when he already had Aids. Killed it when he had problems vocally because of his sickness. And no one new he had aids until he publicly announced it. I love the respect you showed for Mother Mercury even when your not a big fan of theirs. So much respect and always love your reactions.

Brian did write this with Freddie in mind but also a bit about himself I think, because Brian admittedly has struggled with depression at times in his life, and watching his friend's health deteriorate was very difficult for him. At the same time, the fate of Queen as a band was not optimistic. With Freddies impending death, even the band was presumed to be slowly dying, none of the members could even imagine Queen without Freddie. So in my opinion, this song hits hard on a lot of levels. Brian May is not only an outstanding quitar player, he is a solid song writer, as well. Brian really didn't expect for Freddie to sing this song, but Freddie kept coming into the studio and asking his bandmates to please give him stuff to sing and then they could do whatever they wished with it in the future. I think that the impact of Freddie singing this song really sets it apart in so many ways. This song has become very popular as of late and has had many covers due to the current situation with Covid-19. Several musicians and theatre groups have also put this song out as a way to raise money for all those who help them while they are recording or touring, roadies, techs, costuming people, performers, etc. who are struggling at this point because most are self employed and not eligible for assistance and of course that part of the industries are completely shut down. So once again, another Queen song experiences another resurgence.

Hey fellow NYer, I’m down in Long Island. Give your wife an extra hug. Queen has a huge catalogue & this is toward the end of their time with Freddie. 💔 Brian May wrote this for his dying friend. And for the end of Queen itself.....at least as it was originally formed for 20+ years.

I saw Queen live twice. The second time at Wembley stadium in July 1986 on their final tour. Freddie was the best front man of any band ever. Have a look at the video, the opening was as good as you'll see. Lead guitar is Brian May, one of the best. The guitar you hear was home made by Brian and his father from various parts around the house. For example, the body was from part of an old oak table. Have a look at These are the Days of Our Lives and Mother Love, two of the last songs Freddie made.

I was a Queen fan when I was a teenager during the 70’s, showing my vintage now...but I lost them during the 80’s when I got married and had my family. The Bohemian Rhapsody movie brought them back into my life and I’m so grateful for it. I can suggest a couple of live performances right off the bat that you should not miss. Somebody to Love live at Montreal 1981 and Under Pressure live at Wembley 1986. The have an enormous catalogue of music, so diverse and as a rule their live versions of songs were better than the studio versions. Those two songs will get you hooked though, and from there you can dive in. Thank you for a great reaction. It’s a nice change to have a reactor actually listen to the lyrics and make some intelligent comments, so I’ll subscribe just for that alone, but if you watch more Queen, I’ll watch with you! I hope you and your family stay safe during this crazy time. I live in Australia and our government were pretty quick to close things down so we are starting to ‘flatten the curve’ as they say, but I see on the news everything that is happening in the US and elsewhere in the world, so I wish you all the best.

This is one song I would have loved to have hear him sing when he was at his strongest. Freddie started to struggle with his voice due to the illness on the magic tour thats why you hear Rodger doing more vocals to support him .Freddie knew on that tour he wasn't going to be able to carry on much longer with the live shows. We were all robbed of one hell of a performer taken way to soon RIP Freddie Mercury .

Since you are a metalhead, I think you should like some older Queen stuff. For example "Stone Cold Crazy" that you probably knew because Metallica covered it. Or "Ogre Battle", "White Man", "Death On Two Legs" or "Dead On Time". This is all 70s stuff. Or for the 80s/90s (Freddie died in 1991) "Gimme the price" or "The Hitman". These are the heaviest that I can think of. I think you could also enjoy some Queen greatest hits like "Innuendo" or "Under Pressure" (with David Bowie, you probably already listened to that) or some fan favourites like "The March of the Black Queen" or "Tie your mother down". Well, actually there are so many that I can't really suggest only a couple.

thanks for your reaction, perhaps this was posted by others, but anyway: "credited to Queen, but written mainly by Brian May. The song chronicles the effort of Freddie Mercury continuing to perform despite approaching the end of his life, although his diagnosis with HIV/AIDS had not yet been made public in spite of ongoing media speculation claiming that he was seriously ill. Mercury was so ill when the band recorded the song in 1990 that May had concerns as to whether he was physically capable of singing it. Recalling Mercury's performance, May states; "I said, 'Fred, I don't know if this is going to be possible to sing.' And he went, 'I'll fucking do it, darling' - vodka down - and went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal".

Great reaction! It is impressive how you have actually looked at the history behind the song before doing the reaction. This is the last album Freddie Mercury did. The Show Must Go On hit number one on the UK charts a month before Freddie's death. The band was quite close and Brian May (lead guitarist) wrote to the song for Freddie, it is somewhat of a goodbye song from the band to Freddie. Luckily Queen is not very strict when it comes to copyright. It would be good to check out some of Queen's live performances. You should check out Innuendo another song from Queen's last album. Freddie's voice was at it's best right before he died.

Listen to the album ‘Queen II’. Remembering that the band only has one (6 string) guitarist, the sound and note precision these four guys generate from that album is underrated to this day.

Freddie has the unique ability to use both vocal folds which gives him that fast vibrato that only a few singers are able to do. One aspect of his singing and performance that makes him brilliant
