Hello EVERYONE!! Before I dig into Queen's catalog I had to experience Bohemian Rhapsody (in concert) for the first time. Obviously, I heard this one on the radio a bunch so I wanted to see how it stacked up. Should I do "Somebody to Love" next?? Please send your suggestions and experiences with this band down below! Thank you and much love to all of you!!!

Yes absolutely do Somebody to Love at this same concert, Montreal. It is Amazing! Brian’s guitar, called the Red Special, was built by Brian with his father. He used the mantle of an old fireplace a friend was throwing out, an old table,his mother’s knitting needles and all sorts of other bits and bobs. I think they took two years to build it, and Brian still plays it to this day. The amp you were talking about is the “Deacy Amp”. John Deacon was an electronics engineering student when he first joined the band, and he found an electrical circuit board in a skip bin (dumpster you call them haha) and he made the amplifier that Brian used to make all sorts of weird and wonderful sounds with his guitar. Different people have tried several times to replicate it, but never had total success. This band is made up of highly intelligent and highly educated individuals. Freddie had a degree in graphic design (he designed the Queen crest) Brian has a PHD in astrophysics and has worked with NASA on the New Horizons Pluto project. Deacy, as I said has a degree in electrical engineering and Roger has a degree in Biology although he started out doing dentistry. Not your average backyard band jamming in the garage. If you would like more suggestion for live performances I suggest anything from Wembley but notably Love of My Life, Under Pressure and Another One Bites the dust. Freddie had 80,000 people in the palm of his hand, obeying his every whim. Welcome back to Queen, I’ve been hoping you would do some more because I enjoyed your last reaction. Keep them coming, you won’t be sorry

The absolute best band EVER!! I'm now in my seventies and I still listen to their music daily. My kids grew up listening to Queen and they too are huge fans. We lost a true genius when Freddie passed away!! Gone but not forgotten as long as his music is around.
@johncampbell7564 жыл бұрын
Brian May built that red guitar himself. He is currently an Astrophysicist. So, the band had some smart guys as well as everyone being excellent on their instruments. And never forget, every single member wrote hits for the band.

Bassist John Deacon has a degree in electronics, and designed and built one of the amps Brian May uses with his guitar (which he built when he was 17 with his father...and still isles to this day).

If you want a closer look at Roger Taylor live on the drums, which he is under rated as a drummer, because he is AMAZING, there is a video, just search "Roger Taylor drum cam live at Wembley" and it should pop up for you. It shows you the stage from behind Roger so you can see his drumming skills. Deacon was under rated as well, he was one of the best bassists out there. I think Deacon didnt like to stand out by choice though, that's why it was always a treat when you'd see him really get into a song and start bopping around the stage...lol. They all are and were legends in their own right, they can't be duplicated. Bands can "sound" somewhat like them, but the chemistry and passion they had was of another world and no one as far as I know has matched it!

Queen was harshly attacked by critics and yet proved that the real judge is the people on the street. They ignored the criticism and made Queen one of the most legendary bands in history. This was another of Queen's great legacies. It doesn't matter what the critics think. Don't let anyone tell you what you have to like or what you don't. There is no better judge for a person than oneself. Long live Metal 🤘 and God save the Queen. We miss you Freddie. A hug

The amazing part about the harmony in the middle part is that is all just Freddie, Roger, and Brian. I loved that they held Roger's high vocal and let the others fall off. There is a great break down of BoRhap studio recording with Brian (where you can hear the different parts).
@DannymikReacts3 жыл бұрын
It's funny because I never knew the breakdown of who's voices were in that part until I did this reaction... Roger's high pitch vocals really rip in that part. Thanks for the suggestion, view, and comment here 👏
@geomarierock30613 жыл бұрын
@@DannymikReacts They once explained why their voices sounded so good together in interviews. They said Roger could hit all the high notes (he technically is not in falsetto) and had a raspy voice. Freddie had a crystal clear tone with tons of vibrato and could go low. Freddie described Brian's voice as warm and fills in the middle. Brian's voice tones down Roger's rasp and those two's voice blend with Freddie to give it more depth. Between the three of them, they had a 5 octave range.

Hi from the Uk...Both of my sons are 27 now...and they are both amazing talented drummers...they started drumming at home when they were both 14....so we are talking about 13 years ago now...THIS was the song they both played along to the most...just think...it was the time teenagers were into Eminem and that kinda music...but MY sons wanted to be the best...and Queen even at 14 yrs old were the best of the best to them...They had heard Momma (me) playing songs like this one and ELO songs..and PRINCE's Purple Rain etc...so by the time they were to a certain standard of drumming i never ever complained about the unbearable noise in the house where all light fittings on the ceilings were shaking and swinging due to the drumming x 2....It was their passion and i got to hear MY cool dudes strive to be as good as this Band's drummer...WHO would complain about being a part of THAT right ?!? Queen are arguably the best live band of all time. Freddie Mercury was the greatest front man of all time. No one can touch him live. This band was comprised of so much talent within just 4 guys. Every one of them were multi instrumentalists and Roger Taylor and Brian May are incredible vocalists as well. Roger Taylor had a band on the side that he fronted called The Cross. His raspy rock and roll voice is so good. You Will have to react to Im in Love with my Car live from Montreal. He sings lead and slays the drums at the same time. Its a song he wrote and they used to put in in a medley of songs live. His voice will blow your mind. He also is responsible for high harmonies you hear in the backing vocals on stage. If you react to Somebody to love Montreal 1981, pay attention to Rogers vocals. Then you have Brian May who is one of the best guitarists in the world. He has a totally unique and distinctive sound because of this homemade guitar. It can't be replicated and many have tried. He and his father built it out of scraps around the house and they built it to Brian's specifications. He wanted certain sounds out of it that you can't get with a store bought guitar. It is responsible for many of the classic Queen sounds that you hear in their songs. John Deacon's base lines are so crazy good and between him and Roger, Freddie said they keep time better then a metronome. They all 4 write songs, which is why Queen has so many different genre of music within their catalog . There is definitely something for everyone. Queen was the first band to have all 4 members inducted into the song writer's hall of fame as well as the rock and roll hall of fame. John Deacon Built a special amp that helped create special sound effects. They named it The Deaky Amp. It's also one of a kind. All 4 had college degree's . Roger Taylor had a bachelor's degree in Biology, Freddie had a degree in graphic design, John had a degree in Electronics First Class and Brian May had a PhD in astrophysics. So technically he is Dr. Brian May. This band did everything democratically, They were 4 equal parts, no one claimed to lead the band so they had to always work out disagreements among themselves which is why they managed to stay together so long. This band is absolutely the Gold Standard of bands and have definitely influenced so many artists today, and are now enjoying being able to bring Queen to a whole new generation. No matter how you feel about Adam Lambert, and i understand completely people's feelings, He has enabled them to not only keep Queen's music alive but Freddie too. Adam was a big fan of Freddie and he said he influenced him so much and that he knows he isn't Freddie and could never be what Freddie was. He says he feels honored to be able to keep his legacy alive. Anyway, If your going to take this journey with Queen, hold on to your seat because it is a wild, wonderful ride. Please react to some older Queen somewhere in your list. You will love White Queen live at the Rainbow 1974, You take my breath away Hyde Park 1976, In the Lap of The Gods live at the Rainbow 1974 ( there is another version of In the Lap of the Gods from 1975 which is good of course but the 1974 version is the original one and Roger's backing vocal sounds angelic. Liar live from the Rainbow 1974 is a good one as well. I just recently subscribed to your channel and i really loved your reactions to Queen. Thank you for doing them so enthusiastically and respectfully.

The bass guitarist, John Deacon ('Deaky) made the amp for Brian soon after he became the 4th Queen. They say it is used to this day - and Brian's celebrated guitar you speak about, I understand, was made by Brians Dad and Brian when Brian was a teen.

Theres a Danish coverband called Queen Machine. I don't actually know if they ever tour outside of Denmark but honestly their amazing, it's almost like you're in the presence of Freddie at the concerts 😍😍

Brian May's guitar is custom built from an old oak fire place, he built it with his dad and it's called old red.
