About 25 years ago I used to make prototypes for an inventor guy who was the retired stuntman for Lee Majors (The Fall guy). He looked just like him. His name was Tom Sutton and he invented the "ball cap buddy" a hat washing cage for washing hats in the washing machine so your hat wouldn't get all messed up....Dude was crazy and wild with a million cool Hollywood stories

The truck on the TV programme was a 1984 GMC High Sierra LWB. It has to be a 1984, because apparently the grille changed the year after after only a couple of years with that design and light cluster. In fact they got through quite a few trucks, because as you can imagine, the stunts etc were hard on the vehicles. In the opening credits you can see one bust through an obstacle, before the front axle promptly collapses. The engineers on set ended up fabricating reinforced chassis to reduce the number of trucks they were writing off. Great programme, loved it as a kid and a lottery win would see a truck like that on my driveway.

Nice job. A little trivia. In the show opening, when you see the truck jump, you will notice the engine is located in the middle and just behind the driver. It can also be seen in a couple of episodes. Pick-ups are front heavy and it would nose dive during a jump.

Looks amazing Danny! I can see Colt Seavers and Howie chasing bad guys and jumping over things in your gorgeous truck. To this day I don't understand why Ertl made such crapy versions of T.V. and film cars. They made the best farm equipment diecasts on the planet and you'd think that they could do the same thing with their other castings. I remember when this was released and was so disappointed that I didn't buy one. But after seeing what can be done by a talented builder as yourself, I am wanting to find one and try to make it look as good as you make yours. Just wish I had the equipment to make the decals like you do. Can't wait to see what you build next my friend. Have a great weekend!

the real truck was an 81 K2500 GMC. This model is pretty close. Bit of trivia for you. The stunt men on the Fall Guy got tired of waiting for a new truck to be brought up after every atempt at a jump or what not, so they made a jump truck. They took the front drive axles out, and made a plywood cut out to make it look like it was still four wheel drive. Then they moved the engine back, most of it was under the tool box in the back, a little extended into the cab. I don't recall what else they did, but they did a lot to lighten it up especially in the front end. In something like 40 jumps, they broke one bolt. Saved the company a lot of money too, but did they get any credit for it... naw... they're just the stunt guys. Stunt guys party like there's no tomorrow.
