Gosh, hadn't thought about scrapple in decades. We usd to butcher our own hogs and mom would make scrapple. One year dad made an arrangement with a grocery store to pick up their out of date dairy products and fed it to the pigs. Best pork I ever ate. Had to laugh at your pig in the cauldren, 🤣

Scrapple is actually quite delicious when cooked correctly. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. And you eat it with ketchup and hot sauce.
@jbs256 Жыл бұрын
Awesome Danny! I kinda figured scrapple would turn out to be something Tung would like! I was right. Take all the other parts, cook and form them a\then slice and fry them. Really, have you ever asked what was in that breakfast sausage? Don’t. 🤣 You took one for the team and I’m proud!

Philly Girl here. I’m so proud of you for trying scrapple AFTER finding out what it is🤢. I, myself, have been living in denial of the ingredients my whole life. Although I prefer to fry my own pieces with variable thicknesses at home (score of 10), I still get excited when I see it on a menu. They could’ve done a better job presenting it on your platter. You should’ve made an egg, scrapple and grape jelly sandwich with the leftovers. Love your videos!!!

My Mother used to make "scrapple" combining breakfast sausage and corn meal mush. Let it refrigerate. Then slice and fry.....no liver or any other organ meats. Maybe not authentic but, oh so delicious. Call it poor man's pate.

Whoa, I'm going to admit that scrapple would not be for me, Just looking at it on your plate (or take out box) and I knew. The appearance of my food is important to me and this one did not look very appealing (I guess my mind can't get around something that doesn't at least look tasty). What can I say? I am sure I am missing out on some very delicious and tasty treats, but I am old and it's too late to change me now. Good on you for giving scrapple a try! Thanx for another fun and interesting food review Danny. BTW, I would have been fine with the rest of the food you had with the scrapple.

Im from Maryland and my husband and I love scrapple. So we buy it in a package and cut it as thin as you can without it crunbling than put it in a frying pan and fry until crispy. That makes the difference. Also, dip it in ketchup like some people do eggs. Yummy.
@lilliputlittle Жыл бұрын
I live on the west coast and finding scrapple in a store is a rarity so I buy multiple frozen blocks. Scrapple, eggs over medium and buttery toast - yum.... It is essentially scraps of pork made into sausage and mixed with corn meal. My dad always said it was everything leftover from hog butchering but the oink. Unless a person grew up eating it, like I did, it mostly is an acquired taste. But my west coast husband enjoys it when I cook it up.
@roamwithray Жыл бұрын
😅 Scrapple isn’t for everybody but it’s always fun to see people try “new” food for the first time. Commercial scrapple is mostly made of liver, cornmeal, buckwheat flour, and spices. Scrapple can be complex. Different brands using varying spices, method of cooking, and also condiments will drastically change its taste. Thanks for being a champ and trying it out. Loved the video, I was smiling the entire 9 mins and 14 seconds. ❤️

No. They are different. Excerpt: Put them in a pot with pepper, salt, and cloves or allspice, and cover with vinegar." Where scrapple is usually a dull brown color, and while headcheese features clearly discernible chunks of meat amidst the gelatin, souse is usually a dull gray, flecked with the black grains of pepper.
