Galaxy supporter here: Columbus came to L.A. in 2018 and there was a Crew fan roaming about the North End, trying to get the attention of members of the Angel City Brigade. I sat very close to them and was familiar with the leadership, so I told him I would help him out. He was a little drunk but thanked me and told me that earlier in the week, he had tried the same with the 3252 LAFC supporters and they harassed him and didn't want to listen to him. I told one of the ACB capos about him and they brought him front and center and announced to the ACB section that we would support our brothers and sisters from Columbus. So, they started a loud "SAVE THE CREW" chant and the rest of the North End joined in. It was awesome. The Crew fan stayed with them the rest of the game and I saw him give someone a Save the Crew scarf. Just goes to show that MLS is a family... except for those LAFC orcs.

Even growing up in Maryland I've known of the Irsay's lying to the public that they're not moving so the Hate still lingers in Baltimore. So when I heard about the Crew it was immediate that I supported it. When Atlanta hosted their first Playoff game against the Crew we Marched with the Crew Supporters until some assholes told them to leave. The Scars of the loss of the Thrashers were still there and we were not having it. Thank you so much for making this video. As a Crew supporter it was a weird nostalgia trip and you really did the movement justice. Legitimately brought a tear to my eye. As a side note, MLS was (and maybe still is) citing attendance based on what it is at kickoff and so at MAPFRE Stadium they were 100% stifling attendance by doing things like not maintaining facilities, making strenuous and time consuming entrance policies, and on MANY occasions, they would only have 1 or 2 of the entrances open so that people couldn’t get into the stadium in time for kick-off. It was extremely frustrating.

I live in Pittsburgh, so Columbus is the closest team to me so I've always been a Crew fan. Plus the black and yellow speaks to me for obvious reasons. Thank you for making this video it showed how much the team and sport means to people as well as all the negative things that are part of the American sport climate. I got into soccer when I was a kid so the mid-90s about when the MLS started and while I've watched MLS on and off for years I've always liked the crew. And I'm going to be honest here, #SaveTheCrew got me back into the MLS. The passion that Columbus showed made me remember why I love soccer and I was heartbroken that they were going to move because I had finally been able to afford to go to MAPRE for a home game and I wasn't going to actually see it. Movements like this are why sports are so important to people. They are a sense of community and identity that brings pride to a city when they win. It brings joy to my heart that the Crew was saved and they were able to win the Cup so quickly afterwards.

I remember seeing it be a trending topic on Twitter for almost the whole timeline. It captured my full attention that summer. Seneca said that “Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.” This quote applies to their presence at College Gameday. I remember seeing all the signs in the background and was more focused on them than the pregame itself. Being a Browns fan in a family that has had season tickets since their return to the league from Columbus whose mother was at that final game before they left, I feel had he succeeded, Precourt’s antics that led to it would have been EVEN WORSE than Modell and the Browns. For one, Art did not have a clause when he bought the Browns that let him move the team to Baltimore and only Baltimore, did he? My father could justify him to an extent since the stadium was trash and never truly got on the exact same page for a new stadium with Mayor Michael White whilst wishing he was more upfront and transparent with the city, but not Precourt. Leslie Pool is now a personal antihero to me; she was just doing what she did not for her gain, our gain, or anyone else’s. She just GRILLED him and I laughed HARD. Even though we won, I still will never forget and never forgive. Why should I?

I was at the rally at City Hall. It was purely throwing caution into the wind. I don't think many of us that day actually thought it was going to change the result. When's the last time a pressure campaign stopped the relocation of ANY American sports franchise? (Cleveland Browns, Oakland As, Houston Oilers, and on, and on, and on...) But d*mmit, we weren't going to go down without making a whole hell of a lot of noise. The feeling at that rally was one of family, and community, and camaraderie. In my estimation, those qualities are exactly what gave us the fuel, and moral high road, and ultimately led to our eventual success. It took a whole helluvalot of work - basically, a corps of volunteers ostensibly taking on a second job on a pro-bono basis, and the City's support at our backs. But it eventually broke in our favor. I'm not sure I've ever been prouder of anything in my life.
