well, current operating systems are gigabytes of memory, meanwhile ms-dos is just 6-8 megabytes. Combine that with other random crap that has to load on startup/boot and you get a boot time longer than ms-dos.

Try making less programs boot with the pc. Things like Skype and discord etc. Set them selves to do this and too many programs can really slow down startup

Back then, programs didn't take up so much disk space and RAM, so for the most part slow boot up time wasn't a problem...then again I am a zoomer going off of what I know about computers.

If I ever made a virus, I would create it so it first puts itself in the startup program list, then makes a backup of every file on the system from directories such as downloads, desktop, pictures, and then at some point delete all of the originals. Then it would make a popup saying: "All files successfully deleted" and shut down the computer. On startup, it would put the copies back where the originals were and then delete all traces of itself.
