This southern gal fell in love with Sorrel at a young age visiting family up North during the holidays. I’ve had a few cultures versions Trinidadian, Jamaican, Mexican and Senegalese. All delicious! I’m currently growing a plant for the 1st time

@@027Star SO good.... AND effective. I don't get a long enough season for a substantial harvest of calyxes, but I grow several of them every year to stock up on the leaves!! I love hibiscus tea. Such great 👍🏼 formation Dan. I bet if you steamed fish in parchment paper and added the hibiscus leaves, it would hold in all of the flavor and turn a pretty color. A chef once taught me to cook fish in parchment paper and I loved it.

We have a bag of dried sorrel, not that we grew, but that we got from family, and we have to make some sorrel drink soon. My wife definitely had it growing up. We haven't been back to Jamaica for a while, but I know you aren't kidding about the popularity. Great video as always!

Now that you mentioned about having Roselle tea in Jamaica I am hoping I get my little plant going and then I will send some Calyxes to my former bosses. They were English Jamaicans and used to love finding Scotch bonnets growing as a decorative plants in Boca Raton, where I used to be a Bridal Consultant for their Bridal business. That’s to you I know that the leaves could be eaten and the roots. Growing up all I knew about was the drink for Christmas. Hearing you say you don’t want to eat no bugs reminds me of my cousins daughter, you can never get her to eat green leaves vegetables, she said she doesn’t want to eat the bugs🤣

Oh my goodness, I am swimming in zucchini. I am making fritters, bread, everything. Sorrel is really good in chicken. I don't think we can get the cranberry hibiscus in my neck of the woods.

Zucchini is a prolific producer... Will be growing a few plants next month If you get 2 months of Summers in the high 80s ... you will be able to grow it .. ( Roselle/Cranberry Hibiscus ) Thank you so much

I decided to try growing roselle in a 17 gallon pot. I think I may have planted too many seeds in there. The plants are short and are just now starting to flower. I planted two different kinds. One is called Thai Red Roselle and the other St. Kitt & Nevis Roselle. I don’t know if there is a difference or if this is just where the seeds originated.
