Great self-reflection and analysis. Good showcase of how much prep and homework it takes ahead of these events to battle with the best. Glad you enjoyed the broader experience and atmosphere.

when you got into your 25-30, unmarried, no kids, more free time... wow did that hit home for this 35 yo with 2 kids who has become a much weaker battler since having less time. Thank you for making me feel like less of a scrub

Great video and insights! I would love to have more team building series for each league, like the one you did "live" ahead of this event. Was super interesting to see the thought process live. Dont give up just yet Dan!

I would love it if you did a video and broke down some of the top team comps from the tournament! I love the content, and I really appreciate the effort you put into making content for all of us dads the love pokemon out there!

On the comment about players struggling to open the app. I definitely feel that. I think the schedule really hurts, I don’t want to play these limited meta cups for weeks in a row. It feels like I spend half the time playing these cups when really I just want to play open GL

Yeah it was 1000% stacked. Which was great for watching tbh. OMG you were paired with Mr tryhard multi regional winner LyleJeffsIII!?! His bro Blobb did well. You versus Yasser would have been cool.

Playing pvp sometimes make me overthink as well - I get too busy trying to be smart and completely mess up my own game. I just recently entered my first local tournament. I remembered what you, Dan always say to do - and chose pokemon I know how to use. I think that is why I did okay and managed some wins against much more experienced players. Lesson learned: Do as Dan says.

I think an easy resolution to Pokémon go regionals is for GO to be allowed to do Swiss rounds like every other Pokemon event .

I made similar mistake last year in Charlotte. This was the first regional post annihilape release. It was clear the top players did not bring Annihilape because they prioritized the pokemon they were comfortable with and were familiar with the matchups. Lessons learned for next time.

I told myself I was going to take this season very seriously (GBL-wise) when it started recently. Unfortunately, part of my enjoyment of video games comes from playing with friends. My friends have either sold their accounts or drastically reduced the amount of time they put into this game. So I'm someone who was going to take the game more seriously, but am now rethinking this decision. I'm also a father and work 1.5 jobs.

Seeing Lyle in losers round 3 is rough. But yes your critique of your team nailed it too , not flexibile enough. That’s a good learning. See the positives.

I like the vlog style! Step up your camera work and get an external microphone to limit surround noise. I would have loved to see how the actual games are set up. Where do you enter your six selected pokemon? More behind-the-scenes footage. What I don’t get is when this is a regional tournament, why are international players allowed to compete?

Next time if you team build a week or two prior and scrimm it against some friends or channel members in a stream, I think you’d have more confidence and could easily make a run my man. Insanely stacked regional though wow 🤯

I think you’re not giving yourself enough credit - you actually have a decent chance against some of these people imo. Like you said you still played relatively well and it sounds like you could’ve beaten some good players if you didn’t mismanage your team building. I don’t think you need to dedicate insane time to get good results, you’re already up there! That’s just my take though.

Yeah, bad ideas abound😅 ive learned over the years playing s6p3 that meta wins most of the time. Also using mons your not confident in or newly built and never used is a bad idea

Any event is going to have people competing for the title and a lot of pack fill. If you want to better, you probably have a better idea than most on how to do that. But those big players are spending way more time, money, and attention on the game. Do you really want to do the same to compete with them? A lot of events will do side events after players bust out of the main event. Maybe PoGo will do the same. Manage your expectations for next time. And yes, seeing the "pros" roll into town for those Worlds slots had to be discouraging. I've entered a lot of events with no expectations of winning. Hope you find your place in these events. Or would you rather just cover or commentate on the event and the meta at the event.

You went in without Clodsire, sh Drapion or Gatr? You always have said do as you say not as you do, lol. The good news is team comp isn't something I expect to continue to be an issue with you. You absolutely keep your priorities in order but we all know you can churn out a winning team while changing diapers and watching a football game. And you didn't embarrass yourself, you beat someone.

But isnt that part of his point? The guy who's job it is to play the video game is better than others at the video game? Plus you have to remember...outside of the top 0.0001% like pokedaxi and mystic and those guys, Pogo is not a full time job for anyone with actual life responsibilities. Dan is probably in the top 5% for content creators and he said himself he makes at most $50-$70 per video. The bigger guys like Jonk and HomeSlice maybe make $100-$150 a video. Even with daily releases that's ~$3500/mo pre taxes. No shot people can have a family and live off that.... And those are the top PvP content guys. His statement rings true. A 25 year old with no children no mortgage and no spouse will be able to A- more easily support themselves with a POGO PvP full time job that pays monthly what most 35 year old family men make bi weekly. B- have more free time and expendable income to travel and play these events.

Again You Over Think ThingsTo Much My Friend! Lol As for the Tournament it is all about one’s mind set! If you are going to have FUN or TO WIN! In the end the only real winners are the Tournament Organizers, Pokemon Comp, Volunteers ( to some extent) they got more out of this than the participants! Lol As for the argument of the Top Players Not Having Responsibilities Am Been Able To Go Anywhere… Life Is Big Am Long Rd… They’ll Not Going To Achieve Nothing Worth Remembering In The Future… So Let Them Have Their Fun… See How They’ll Be Doing In 10 Years From Now! Lol
