I love her older sister XD "She's a little awkward, but she tries her best!" Kind of pointing to the fact that she still has stuff to learn, but she's come so far! Such a cute moment~ I also love how they mention the relationships between her official older sister and her okaa-san, I think it shows how important the pillars of the community are. But yeah, the narrator seems to be confused with what this is in modern days, it's the ties they're cutting as well as cutting some extensions free, not the actual hair ^^ Still, very beautiful video ^^

Patrick Harlan do your homework, the hair is not cut, they just pretend to cut it . They never do it for real, they just undo it , because from that day on she will be wearing a wig and not her real hair . In the past some locks of hair were cut by her patrons and most important sisters and Okaasan , but most certainly not today . Other than that , great footage and very good choice of music Furyo was an amazing film .

hrm, Komomo had her hair cut, and she even talked about it being cut during this ceremony and then she went to have it styled and cut evenly the next day.

What okiya is Fukuhina from? Is she still an active geiko now?

Fukuhina debuted under the Takemoto okiya in Miyagawa-cho. Sadly, she is no longer active as a geiko.
