Believe it or not, the determined pattern work on hats and NOT fucking up around 10:00-10:29 is probably the most hard and intense piece of this. That takes soem fucking MAD concentration and self-metronome timing. I won't even get into the feetsworks of the DanMan. (Y) @Dan Presland, up the fucking irons, mate. INCREDIBLE use of kit, patterning, power/regulation of blasts and bass drum work. And best of all, served with delicious cymbal work. PRIMO, man.

2:43 was that an intentional crescendo on the snare or was your wrist getting tired? Also big props for those perfect rimshots in the soft part and the elegant ride hit at 5:58. It's in those little things for me! And although you didn't look very pleased with it, I once again have to point out that the accidental hi-hat hit at 11:32 actually ended up working quite well!
@DanPresland8 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's an intentional crescendo blast. And thanks, it's a great ride to do small crashes on like that. I don't think there's any rim shots in this song?
@BlackEmperor8 жыл бұрын
Dan Presland There's not? Have to admit, I listened through my laptop speakers so I went by your hand movements mostly, looked like you were doing rimshots back there. But listening again with proper headphones it is indeed the sound of the snare that just happens to sound similar to a rimshot on mine! Well, that does explain why they sounded so perfectly consistent, haha. Not that I doubt that you could do it if you wanted to though!

Some hardest parts of your arrangements seems to be very close to the limit of human being's motoric skills. i think you have prepared a kind of extremely hard-to-vanquish trap for yourself, which is already waiting for you somewhere around year 2030. Do you believe that you will be able to play songs from "Citadel" album when you will be more than 40 years old? But, thinking in such categories would not be favourable base for music quality you create :-) ...and the music you make is really outstanding and THE FUTURE will not forget about Ne Obliviscaris - that is for sure. The children of my granchildren will to be impressed by your albums, perceiving them as a masterpieces in the category "classics of extreme music from the early 21st century" :-)
