Hi I am about to purchase from your website but. What medications for quarantine should I have on hand before the fish arrive? And how soon after acclimating should I apply medicine or wait a week to apply medication? Thanks !
@DansFish Жыл бұрын
Our three main meds are IchX, Praziquantel, and Levamisole. We treat livebearers and wild caught fish for parasites, but the rest we just observe and treat based on what we see.

Great video Dan! I'm curious, how did you train them to eat the repashy? I noticed mine picking at it. Maybe that's the subject of another video.
@DansFish5 жыл бұрын
I just put a chunk in everyday for a few hours and then removed it (so it did not pollute the water) for a week or so until they realized it was food and started eating it. I do this with lots of foods. I'll put a small amount of whatever the new food is in the tank. If the fish don't eat it, I remove it and put in what they are used to eating. I find that if I do this regularly, they will almost always learn to eat the new food over time.

4K! It's a long time coming, but we did it, Baby!!! What I like about triple sulfa is that is treats gram negative bacteria AND is safe to use (even synergetic) with Ich-X. So, when things come in with ich, it is my go-to.

Great content. Can you do a follow up on this? It would be informative, at least for me, how much you're dosing, as well as how you remove the medications from the system.
@DansFish5 жыл бұрын
I plan to do a follow up if/when the last few skinny ones fully recover. For dosing, I follow the instructions on the meds containers OR I go here: www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Aquarium_Medication.html Most of these meds become denatured after a little while in the aquarium. What I do is wait a couple of days, then I put hydrogen peroxide in the hospital tank to sterilize it and to help denature any remaining meds. Then I change 100% of the water and fill the tank up for the next round of fish. Activated carbon is also useful for all the meds I use EXCEPT copper. Some copper meds can be removed with carbon, but chelated copper, which is the one I use, needs to be removed with Ethylene Diamine Tetra Acidic Acid

Deserves way more views! GREAT Video. Only thing though, their beeks grow super super fast... You should adress that in the video. That people need to be breeding pond snals, and ramshornsnals separately... And yes I keept them. Kept about 6 different freshwater puffers, these are the weakest bite, so they cant eat trumpet snails. They are to hard. And the beeks grow super fast. But it is the best video I have ever seen about how everybody should treat their Wild caught fish when they come in. In my opinion no mather if they look healthy. Good Video. But do another one on e the beeks. They get big, and the beek thing is why there is not a single video on youtube on a 5 year old adult....

He covers a lot here. Dan has Amazon Puffer vids.. If anyone is searching, he has them.. 🍻 I know what you are saying, though... I have Fahaka puffers, a Green Spotted and a Figure 8. Those guys seem to eat tougher meats and grind their own teeth. Meanwhile, I will soon start an aquarium channel with Shorts, addressing my puffer issues and Solutions. So many puffers die, due to a lack of info. Not all the meds can be used on them. Not all parasites are killed by the most common meds. Even the products Dan uses here... are not really available to everyone. But, he has the best meds vid, right here! 🎯🍻

You are a gentleman and a scholar. Get Gills can't calculate shipping until it knows what is being ordered. If you put what you select what you are interested in and go to start checkout, it will then show you your various shipping options. One day, we'll find a better way. But that is how to check shipping costs as of now.

Heather, I generally have tight lids on all my aquariums. Out of curiosity, why do you ask? Is there something about covering a tank that helps Levamisole treatment?
@heatherleelovejoy96905 жыл бұрын
Dans Fish yes I seen a few other videos where they say to cover the tank with a towel or blankets for the 24 hour treatment that the medication is light sensitive, so I was just wondering how you did it because I’m torn on if I need to or not, I prefer not to put any more stress on them then needed
@DansFish5 жыл бұрын
@@heatherleelovejoy9690 Interesting. I do store it in the dark due to its light sensitivity, but I never thought about light denaturing it when it is in the water. That is worth checking up on further. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Dan just curious if you put the meds in the water column or do you put the meds in food? I’ve heard that General Cure isn’t readily absorbed through the skin.
@DansFish5 жыл бұрын
I put the meds in the water column. It might be better to put certain meds in the food...you may be right about the metro and prazi in General Cure. The Kanamycin, Flubendazole, and Levamasole I use, however, are very effective when used on the water column because they are absorbed into the fish's skin via skin and/or gills. I tend not to use medicated food because I generally use meds during quarantine and I don't usually feed my quarantine tanks as I don't want any ammonia developing in those non-filtered quarantine setups.
@Ourfrenchiegirls5 жыл бұрын

What did you use for the eyes? You mention they have clear eyes. I have one that its eyes are getting blurry. What can i use to treat ? Its not eye rot, looks like some sort of a brown/green bacteria slowly covering its vision, making it blurry or disturbing its vision.
