He is damn good! I was catching seven to eight pound Bonita when I was seven years old while my grandfather was holding on to me. We were fishing on the second barge out of Redondo Beach during the mid 60's. Then on to albacore. That's why I know he is damn good!!!

Great video Dan! The very first off shore video I ever saw (a VHS tape!) was about 30 years ago, and it was one you put out on Albacore fishing. That's what got me hooked. Thank you! I've never fished on one of your trips, but I gotta make a point to do so. Jeff

I look at that boat and she looks so much like the boat I grew up fishing on in Redondo Beach...I miss them days. this is one thing on my bucket list is to go offshore fishing out of Redondo one more time.

I have only caught Yellowfin (PR is 175 pounds) which fight harder in your opinion Yellow or Blue? (I fish alot in Quepos Costa Rica).

I'd suggest a 30, 40 and 50 pound outfits

if you only have 2 outfits I run a 25 & a 50. You wouldn't believe how many 30+ lb tuna I have caught on 25# test. Just remember the lighter the line you have to finesse the fish.
