I prefer to get paid straight away, especially when dealing with a new customer, the last thing I want to do is be chasing customers for payment. Card payment machines are great way of ensuring payment before you've left site.

If I were a one man band I would probably have a card machine, but I think deposits work well too. However many of my old clients were not homeowners so many were landlords or commercial clients so card payments on site weren't an option. Plus I had a team of guys working for me.

Do as you're told. I've asked cowboys to leave the property. Ripping units off walls smashing stuff tends to piss customers off as well.
