Dante's Dungeon - Wildwood NJ's Last Classic Dark Ride

On this episode we travel to Wildwood,NJ to ride Dante's Dungeon....formerly known as Dante's Inferno located on Morey's Piers. It is the last classic style Dark Ride left in Wildwood.

My favorite ride on the whole boardwalk! I love how it just really seems real, bringing you so close to the monsters that it makes you slide back from the seat a little. When i was younger my father would be quiet when we got on the ride, and then he would scream in the middle of it and it would scare the daylights out of me. This ride never ceases to amaze (and scare) me.

I remember this ride as dante's inferno, back in the 90's up until 2000's last time I rode this was back in 2015, also check out the ghost ship walk through on mariners pier

Ghost Ship is closed this year due to staffing issues. I believe it was last open in 2019.

Great video!!! I remember (not too much tho)when I was younger, my uncle would take me to wildwood every summer in the early 2000’s. I would walk by this ride all the time but only went on it once but I remember it when it was Dante’s inferno when the demon was green and they had the artwork of lost souls in hell with he upside down demon head. But I haven’t been back since like 2009 so thank you for showing it off in its updated version!

my brother and I rode this and at every single full body animatronic we said “is that Dante? Dude I think that’s Dante” and we continued on like this for the entire ride

When I was younger, there was a 2 part Haunted House Ride in Wildwood, NJ, the first part was a haunted boat ride, the second was a walk through, both were good, but the walk through was scarier

Yup, I remember that one too. I did the boat ride a few times as a kid after mustering up the courage, but dared only walking thru once lol I think i was 7 or 8. Good memories!

Born and raised in Wildwood. All the best dark rides are long gone. Wacky Shack, Pirate Ship, Gold Nugget Mine, Draculas Castle, Dungeon Boat ride, Monsters Den. The Moreys have no idea how to create the classic vibe. Fyi.....back in the early-mid 80s, the devil above the ride held a pitch fork in one hand, and the other hand held a woman hanging by her hair. Too offensive I reckon..... Also......there are some left over Tracey props from the old Hunts Pier rides inside.

Thankfully there's a handful of amazing ones left...but scattered across the country....there's so many classic ones from the early days I wish i could have experienced.....I've read about Monster's Den but have only ever seen one photo of it....how was that ride??

The Gold Nugget was bought and revived by Knoebels as the Black Diamond.

When did you film this? It has a new look this year inside and out. They did a refurbishment and fixed broken stunts, painted the front with a new mural, etc. It's a shame that Hunt's Pier later Dinosaur Beach is gone as well as Castle Dracula and Dungeon boat ride, and the Haunted House on Morey's Pier which existed from 1972-1984, and a second one floor one from late 80's to 1991. And the Ghost Ship is closed due to staffing issues. And the pier once known as Fun Pier from 1957-1985 lost most of their dark attractions like Lost World, Crazy House, and Castle Frankenstein which was open from 1978 to July 1982 burned in two separate fires on August 13 and November 24, 1984. Morey's renamed it Wild Wheels Raceway and Adventure pier in 1992 and now it's just Adventure pier and they removed the Curse of the Mummy 3D and Jersey Junkyard after 2011. Nothing scary or horror on that pier anymore. I read that the Chamber of Checkers maze is gone now with the room of doors. They moved it and took the outside maze part away several years ago.

This was filmed last summer before the new updates....I'm planning to go down there again this summer to film it again and check out all the new additions! I wish all those classic dark rides down there still existed....I've seen bits and pieces of them but to actually have been able to ride them would have been amazing.

I miss the Dante’s Inferno from the late 80s - early 90s. That had some awesome props.
